I always check the color guide whenever I can, it's a neat feature especially since I am a self-taught. and you can also make those color to be shown at the color palette for quick access when you need multiple choice of compositions
To create more quickly spot and process color, only drag color in swatched window, press command to make spot color or press command + shift to make process global color and release.
I'm not a graphics designer but I do love playing with these small tips in these videos cause it's really fun to see the possibilities that can come out of hidden features (that stroke gradiant one is maybe my favourite, so Imma mess with that next 😁)
Nice little tips. I see so many of those controls in my day-to-day with Illustrator, but I just have never bothered to mess around with most of them. Thanks for demystifying them.
Besides pucker & bloat, zig-zag is also similarly useful especially for making memphis-style crooky lines and certificate emblems. Appearance panel is gold if you're familiar with it. For align to artboard, I set an action shortcut to align centre vertically + horizontally for our pre-press designers. Together with Trim View shortcut, they're so convenient for print designers. Besides V, you can also press enter/return to do basic move/duplicate. Once you're used to key in numbers & using shortcuts, other people will be so impressed looking at you working like an accountant but in Illustrator.🤣 Good video! If you don't mind, could you please make a video tips on Select menu? I always learn at least one new thing from your videos.👍🏻
Amazing tips bro... I wish i should write it down everything, to better remember doing it while working and with time to blend it in my workflow... Amazing vid dude
Satori, I have a hard time with coming up with a consistent layout and graphic that compliment each other. Can you give any insight with how to create a cohesive piece of work?
Do you mean layout in your portfolio, or in general? Your projects don't need to all look the same, the style and design should fit the brief of each individual project
@@SatoriGraphics I would relate if Purple means like: you make an awesome logo, maybe a good pattern with it, and now,.. how to apply to some layouts to showcase it?
As the commenter above suggested, try other file formats. I recently posted a design on Instagram where I used a freeform gradient for the background of a design, and it looks so crisp and clean. That was saved as PNG
Just select the color panel from the window and choose a cymk/RGB color while gradient is ON on the stroke... Then it will remove the grey scale only option... Don't know if you got the idea... Let me know if there is any doubt regarding that
here's a question, considering everything you can do on photoshop these days, why do we need illustrator anymore? there's really just 6 softwares you need from adobe, premiere, after effects, photoshop, lightroom, audition, dreamweaver, and acrobat, everything else just needs to be merged with the other softwares
The original reason would have been because many deigns need to be vector as to retain quality at any size, but now Photoshop has that function to vectorise work. However, people like myself who have used Ai for ages are so accustom to it's interface and layout, that I feel right at home here. I would never ever dream of designing a logo in Ps, even with it's now built in vector function. There are certain tools in Ai that you will not find in Ps too, and those tools are essential for being precise and mathematical with things such as logo designing.
These features are awesome I only knew about the align feature.. Rest are all new to me.. I never knew the live corners have options when we double click it! Thats amazing.. and the last one making different patterns using ellipse tool is so cool.. Thank you so much for teaching this.. I am far behind n missed so many of your video tutorials.. my Internet connection is not working properly these days..
Muhammad Qasim seems like a BIG ask, since it's hard to find good work unless you're advanced/ have good connections. I'm not in the business but it's what I heard from a friend who has been doing flyer designs and stuff. I'd say fivr is a good place to start because it's cheap work and can help build your reputation and portfolio, as satori showed many videos ago.
Each person will have a slightly different route. For example, someone who finishes at university may get contacts from work experience, and go straight into an in-house position. Others will start freelancing and so forth. If I were you, I'd firstly address your portfolio, skills (niche?) and try and make a website for yourself. You can try and get work by contacting people and leveraging social media, as well as using Freelance sites. I personally started on PeoplePerHour, but I have heard Upwork is ok, but I've never used it
Hi Satori....MY OPINION - Photoshop allows easier importing when it comes to growing and maintaining gradients for future work....any tips on how to keep and maintain your favourite GRADIENTS backup for Illustrator. Using libraries? i have a small collection of mini artboards....just want to compare workflows.....THANKS IN ADVANCE
You're not comparing apples to apples. Photoshop is a raster-based program, whereas illustrator is vector-based. So the way they handle gradients is completely different. However, both programs will allow you to create, save, and export gradient files which you can keep in a folder on your computer for future use.
Actually my channel grew on Illustrator tutorials, I think that is where the majority of the followers are from. So I will keep making them for sure :) Have a good day
Hello sir, how are you. I like your video. But sir, there is a problem. You talk about the video quickly and if you go to any option, it is not well understood. If you go to the option, if you show a little gently and the option. Then we would benefit. Thank you
this video is basic enough so you should understand, but anyway 1- make a basic rectangle/square and then press A 2- pick a corner and you can make selective rounded corners 3- if u want rounded corners for the whole shape, press V and select the shape, on the top panel you can control size, position, and border radius
Hi Satori Graphics I am sorry to ask you that I have already submitted the typography design for the competition but I came up with new design recently I want to submit it instead of it please can you consider this.
How many of the 6 did you already know?
yes i do, i am using to make it on my own design materials.
Color guide only
Everything but the free form gradient lines - very cool
nice
Just the free form gradient! Awesome tutorial! Thank you very much for sharing! ❤

yeah colour is really important in design, and that tool / function really aides in getting things right 👍

I've never used the color guide but I'm definitely adding it to my WF
Thanks for the feedback Mike, much appreciated!
The corner thing pisses me off that I haven't stumbled across that on accident...

How have I ignored the "effect" menu this long. There is so many cool, fun, creative ways to make nice designs in seconds.....

This is so useful. Thank you. But showing everystep (the shortcuts) on the video might be more effective. Sometimes i miss what you said.

What are your color settings?
Hey how do you change the color of your artboard?? Background??
that was introduced years ago
ctrl+K > user interface
and pick a color

i stray away from freeform gradients because svg cannot support them. when i go to export it it rasterizes the texture.
use png?
As the commenter above suggested, try other file formats. I recently posted a design on Instagram where I used a freeform gradient for the background of a design, and it looks so crisp and clean. That was saved as PNG
Satori Graphics im scared of exporting as raster without a backup vector copy. is the .ai file the only vector file that supports freeform gradients?
@@shybound7571 dude you dont lose your .ai file when you export. just go export for screens and set it to png
The last one I didn't know, it's very useful and fun, thank you for sharing!
An awesome video, Illustrator is so versitle!
"Apply gradient along stroke" is grayed out for me , any reason why? I"m only able to select "Apply within stroke"
hmmm, is the shape connected? Is it a stroke only? Can you take a screen shot and upload it to imgur, then paste it here?
Just select the color panel from the window and choose a cymk/RGB color while gradient is ON on the stroke... Then it will remove the grey scale only option...
Don't know if you got the idea... Let me know if there is any doubt regarding that
@@SatoriGraphics Restarted illustrator and it seemed to fix the issue.
