For some people, most people, it takes a lot to be happy and content. The truly blessed can find that happiness anywhere and with very little! This is a perfect example of "life is what you make it!"
Much respect, Jenkem! I flip-flop back and forth if this sort of content is hard for Jenkem to find. On one hand, this is so isolated and hardly skate adjacent, and on the other hand, there's such a widespread community of Jenkem followers that i feel like people hit them up with these lil golden nuggets. Either way, this shit is sick, unique, and masterfully executed/produced. As long as you guys are creating content like this, i'll be happily following along, cheers!
@@filmbuff4 Yes. slab city is unincorporated california territory very near Bombay Beach. Bombay Beach is registered with the state, the people in Bombay probably own their property and pay for water and electricity. It's also a one of the few places you can observe active volcanism in the US; there are boiling mud pots, as well as active sea mounts under the surface of the lake.
Thanks for the visit to my area! Slab city is a true trip like Pioneer town, Joshua tree. Just to name a few out here in SoCal. I love the peace in my area it's better than LA. We are starting to see an influx of city ppl before NOVEMBER. The water in bombay became polluted by the illegal dumping by the Martinez Torres tribe. They took bribes from corporate companies for dumping. Also, Bombay was a test site for bombing. Just some fun facts ✌️❤
john from slab city has his foot in his mouth. I suppose the cahuilla people start the fires and poison the lake, too? do they also eat babies? cause earthquakes? use your brain.
One of my favorite places to road trip to when I lived in Oakland. I miss being able to be in the desert in 7 or 8 hours. Ski Inn has good food and cheap drinks too!
I was born and raised my whole life in socal. In my 20s I moved to a rural area in the PNW. First night sleeping I heard silence for the first time ever. I wasn’t even aware that I had never heard it. You get used to the humming, created by the cars passing on the streets and freeway, the airplanes and helicopters flying above, the sirens and sounds created by your neighbors.
you all continue to solidify your spot at the top of skateboarding and skateboarding adjacent media. i'd love if you go to other places like this off the beaten path. feels pretty in line with the sadly shortlived earthers series
“The skate obstacle wasn’t very skateable “ Dylan Clark was doing solid lines tf u mean lol id love to hit a front pivot / disaster / smith stall on that thing, someone send me the addy lol
reminds me of a tamer slab city. i absoluteloved my time there, but it was too sketchy and loud at times for my liking, especially near the end of me being there. this seems way more relaxed, but still the same type of vibe. and having a police force there as well helps, im sure. as much as i don't like police, sometimes they can be necessary, lol.
Of course policing has been a necessary thing since the beginning of organized civilization. Even small tribes have their forms of police. That doesn't mean they have to be like the Punisher though.
love the expansion from just skate journalism in this one!!!
instead of skate journalists they're more like journalists that also skate. (don't mean that in a bad way)
@@Inexpressable that's probably how it should be, the world thru a skating lens vs just the skating world which limits your scope.
we love ian ❤
That lady was cool as fuck.
Indeed! ❤
A lot of people got it down in this world, you just never hear from them unless they're selling something/selling themselves for followers.
I found it to be kinda cute the way she said, I'm always in here "rehearsaling" music! 😂
shes eating life up
Lol her music kinda reminded me of Mario Judah
Why? What was cool about her lol.
She's black she might have magic powers lol
i like how that lady likes to be there because it's quiet and then is unpleasantly loud to her neighbors lol
Lol
mechanic driving a box, politician with skeletons, therapist that's crazier than most of their clients. as are we all

hahah XD oh jeez, sounds like fun! :3
not a bad plan tbh. mushies will have you do repetitive tacks with ease. I've chopped wood for hrs straight on mushies before lol
@turtleboypurp haha! So true! We will be tripping, and I dissappear, only for my friends to find me in the garage on the belt grinder. LOL!
wish this one had been longer. I could easily watch an hour long doc on this kind of thing. y'all are good at telling stories
Dope sound track, love the stone in focus.
fantastic track by AFX
kept expecting Trevor from GTA V to come driving through cursing at them and crashing through a fence. 😂
harmony korine could only dream of a small town like this

@@JonDalysMiniFridge I would live in the IE if there was Haitian food man have you had that Oxtail?

So sick to see Clayton on here, dudes a diy legend! 🔥
Is jenkem the best skateboarding channel that exists? Hell yeah keep doin what you're doin
Straight out of Fallout. Lovely art and that Aphex drop added so much to the video
🎵YOU KNOW I'M A DREAMERRRRR.... WITH MY HEART OF GOLDDDDD! 🎶

Like Sandy Shores in GTA V!
Good eye! Sandy shores is based off of Bombay beach and other areas around the salton sea.
I was just gonna put wander if Trevor’s home 😆
That whole map is based off La and surrounding areas
Yeah GTA is so popular that they created an entire beach based on the game 😏
Reminds me San Andreas too
This was dope! Definitely expand from that wave to quarter pipe!!!!!
You gotta go back and help them build some proper ramps. Such a good video
Hell yeah with the aphex twin song with the old vids
You guys do an awesome job. Highlighting these kind of places and stories is art.
@4:15 ah, some surprise aphex always makes the day better

beautiful track to reflect on
There used to be a pool at the Salton Sea Yacht Club that people would skate - I think it's gone now though?
Yeah it's been gone for probably 10-15 years. Shame because it looked like a good one.
Slab City skatepark still going strong though!
as a french canadian I never though about being a snowbird... but seeing this place, it might be a cool idea for sure
I Love Jenkem
You gotta go to the Slab City skatepark
my one complaint about jenkem videos is that they aren’t longerrr
yooo ian another banger my G
Didn’t McCrank explore this place on “Abandoned”’ back in the day?

I guess Ssippi wasn’t there that weekend.
You guys were super close to slab city. They got a park my friend Carlos built up there
That park has been there for decades with cement work added through time, Carlos just added to it within the last few.
the gorillaz went so accordingly. kudos
