    Loving my IPace. Jaguar has made some blips with all their cars, but if you've got a good example I-Pace (which is most of them), you're ok. Whatever car you want to drive, always join a forum. They're free and you'll learn about the biggest problems drivers have experienced.
    It's a pity they never offered a 2WD, a faster charger capability and another upgrade on the infotainment.
    Some great used examples about, buyer beware, as it's a Jaguar. Always pay for the extended warranty (or get it thrown in), the HV battery isn't the problem, paying for a headlight fix would be horrendously expensive. So due diligence on any vehicle! Good luck with whatever car peeps are looking for 🎉

    This is the first time I heard ANYONE say “why not just use the screen for climate” physical controls are always easier.
    Also you mention “various bits and bobs changing for aerodynamic”. What actually changed? I thought chassis is identical to the old one. They added the shield on the front is the only change as far as I know.
    Also for the sound, it won’t make a difference in slow speed.. it’s the same as if you had a v8 engine. You won’t really hear it unless you floor it. Just cruising at 5mph in a car park won’t make a noise.

    For all the reputation of Jaguar, some deserved, some not, I recently had a go in an iPace. It was fabulous. Super quiet, super comfortable. Really powerful. Honestly, I don't quite know why it doesn't sell in droves. Yes, it has some competition, but the only reason I can think of is that people treat the iPace like it's an ICE car. It isn't. It waaaay better.

    Have to say, not keen on the flattened-off front grille, and - bearing in mind Jaguar’s decision to can the i-PACE from next year, and it’s ageing tech and range (v competition) - I wouldn’t spend £70-80k on a new model.
    Perhaps a 2-3 y/o example, for half the price, with the previous grille, would be better-value and a much more sensible purchase?

    • @markjackson8035
      @markjackson8035 4 месяца назад +2

      2 to 3 year old i-Paces can be had for £23k from independents and £29k from main dealers - closer to 30% of the new list price.
      It would be Russian roulette from an independent however, without the full Jaguar Assist extended warranty. A new headlight is £3000. A new motor (there are 2 of them) £4000.
      If anyone is seriously considering a used one (as I am), check out the UK i-Pace Forum first for all the potential pitfalls (and plus points - it's a fabulous thing to own and drive when it's working as it should). I had one from new for 3 years and it had 4 dealer visits for repairs (under warranty thankfully) totalling 6 weeks off the road at a cost of around £8000 (to Jaguar).

    I think you've just explained why a touch screen with a sensible UI is no worse (if not better) than a complex manual control that you've still got to look at to check that it's in the right mode.

    • @davetrowell64
      @davetrowell64 4 месяца назад

      The huge advantage of the jagged system is that you can operate the climate and seat temperature without taking your eyes off the road. Simple muscle memory and the tactile rotary dial and bezel allow that whereas a screen has to be looked at to find the icon.

      @@Teribus13 The climate control isn't hidden. It's right there at the bottom of the screen.
      I switch between five cars at home, still have to look in each one to find the right manual control.
      Stalks which swap functions from left to right etc.
      I have no problem just flagging at the bottom of the screen to immediately tap one of two arrows depending on up or down, absolutely no difference to me than looking to see if I've got the right control in each car.
      Now, I'm not going to suggest that all interfaces are the same but those iPace controls look daft to me, given that there are three modes, first have to look to see what mode is in anyway.

    • @Teribus13
      @Teribus13 4 месяца назад

      @@djtaylorutube you have to take your eyes off the road with any touchscreen because you can't feel for the button, you need to look at the screen to see you're touching the right area. That's what I mean by hidden.
      Vital controls like the windscreen demister should be able to be controlled without taking your eyes off the road. Even with different dashboard layouts, it's possible to do that by feel with buttons and knobs. It's impossible with a touchscreen.
      As for changing cars, as a driver it's your responsibility to familiarise yourself with where the vital controls are before you set off, more so if you are regularly changing between vehicles.

    Jaguar said in 2017 it would be all electric by 2020, then in 2020 it said it would be all electric by 2023, they keep kicking that can down the road. I’d not be surprised if Jaguar has ceased to exist by 2025. They had a perfectly viable XJ EV and pulled the plug at the 11th hour, presumably out of fear it might actually sell. The iPace is a good drivers car but has been obsolete technically since 2020 on efficiency and rapid charging compared to the opposition - the refreshes are purely cosmetic. If you want to spend 60-80k, get an VW ID7 for family use

The Jag was in the garage every 6 months for build issues they didn't ever fix. 14 different faults were discovered and it still made a rattling noise above 100KPH. Terrible customer service from Jaguar-Landrover. The Tesla 2 1/2 years not an issue. For half the price of an iPace, beautiful though it is... Among them the journalist Giles Coren and the owner of the (twice) runaway car in Cheshire. Given all that, your emphasis on dog baskets and parking noises was just irritating.
