Thanks for the video, but I couldn't get Slax to run on either my 64 bit Netbook, or older 32 bit Netbook. Q4OS worked straight out of the box on the 64 bit Netbook, and 32 bit Antix worked on both Netbooks.
thank you so much for this video man. i had been struggling for hours, watching over 5 other videos and trying so many different OS downloads, but nothing worked until i found yours. you’re truly a lifesaver- i finally got slax linux up and running thanks to your clear and helpful guide. huge respect for making this, you’re a savior
Interesting idea, but I need to find such programs first and test whether they will work correctly. For example, I could not install all programs on this OS, but I showed only those that work stably (Telegram, Flameshot) When I have time, I will try to test other programs
@@AndriyTech there is no need to search about bundle of applications, 1 or 2 apps will be enough. May be linux based applications will capable for slax
I've got an old T460 w/I5-6300U and 16GB and looking at Slax if I can get it to work with my new TP-Link S3 802.11AC adapter. There are multiple boot options which allow you to boot as Read-Only, Read-Write/Persistance, and also Load OS entirely to RAM. I'd like to make one USB drive forced to load as Read-Only for banking. While I prefer Mint, Slackware/Slax is great as its pulled a lot of the server stuff out that I'll never use, and should make for a really quick, responsive machine even on this old 2016 model.
Knowing google nowadays, when recommending people to find something by searching, you might have to instruct them to be careful not to click any that are ads, since they could be malicious fake downloads made to look like the original site.
Got fed-up with Google and tried StartPage. Uses G for the Search but seems to delete all the SEO spam/Sales links that usually take up most of the first page. Also using Firefox.
Very cool, does it supports applications for video editing like OBS? Is it possible to save the changes to restart the pc with the application installed?
Hello, this OS supports only basic programs (practically the ones I showed in the video). At least I couldn't install many other software. But it's great for working in a browser. Programs and files are saved if you managed to install them. I did not install OBS
I tried to run Slax on an old ASUS EeePC 1005PX. Therefor I installed the 32bit-Debian-version on the USB-stick. The stick was formated with FAT32. When booting from USB-stick I get the message: "No EFI environment detected. early console in extract_kernel ... Physical KASLR using RDTSC... Decompressing Linux... Parsing ELF... Performing relocations... done. Booting the kernel." After that the process is hanging. Can you guess what the problem is? Thank you
Does the Linux Slax distro come with 'ethtool'? Just looking to do a quick mac address change and installing linux, even on a vm, takes a while and gigs of space. Hoping just a bare live cd that can do ethtool.
hey how can i fix my termminal download speeds, it took forver to actually download the chromium application and the problem is not with my network , how can i fix this
I tried it , and I downloaded the 32bit version and copied it to a 2GB USB Drive , it booted fine , when I went to connect it to my Wi-Fi Network it was kinda buggy , but keyboard function keys worked okay , I couldn't download Chromium when I clicked yes it popped up the terminal for a sec then closed without any reason, probably the 32 bit version is kinda useless , I will try the x64 bit version later
I have tried both Debian and Slackware iso but they are not booting, they get stuck on a black screen. I don't even get the clover logo. Both my computers have integrated GPU, no Nvidea. My laptop is T450, so you get the idea.
Been trying multiple lightweight Linux distros, and ran across the same on my T460. Far as I can tell, this is likely due to your BIOS set to UEFI vs Legacy/Both. Try changing it in BIOS settings.
Boot SLAX, and when you see the clover logo, you have exactly 4 seconds to press ESC and then you will see a little menu. Choose from the menu Persistent Changes and whatever you do inside SLAX will be saved to the drive where SLAX is.
Hey this video is great, I was just thinking about something like this. Is it possible to find an OS that is so small that all it does is mirror an external display through usbcam input? Like a lapdock that just mirrors a screen? Thanks 🙏

Been around for years it was amazing when base upon the original slackware :D Deb & Ian is it now?
So, most likely, Slax was initially based on slackware, and from this came the name Slax)
