As a long-since retired, but one-time professional CAD user in the aerospace industry - Airbus and Bombardier, to name but two - for many years, the appeal of FreeCAD was too enticing to resist (purely as a hobby, that is). It’s now 20 years since I left the industry, but always sought to, as it were, ‘keep my hand in’. Most free CAD softwares tend to have limited capabilities, but the ‘paid for’ commercial options are not geared for hobbyists so, when I belatedly stumbled upon FreeCAD when both my free Draftsight and free SketchUp softwares became unsupported and changes to terms of use started emerging, the discovery of FreeCAD changed things ‘over night’. The learning curve is still an issue - erratic use being largely to blame - but I probably understand the process better than many of those attempting CAD for the first time. The tree process is the biggest hurdle: my early years on CAD utilised a good deal of typed commands mixed with icon usage, which by the time I retired, had essentially removed the need to type commands at all. Keys were now called ‘hot keys’ and were shortcuts to executing commands etc. Whilst the “tree building” in FreeCAD is giving me some issues - “ practice and use”, I have modelled and detailed several machined parts to create a sphere turning fixture for a wood turning lathe. Have just finished building the device and hope to test in the near future: creating the models and producing the detail drawings was almost like being - for a short while - back in the industry. I owe a good deal of my introduction to FreeCAD to your channel. Your easy to understand style and measured delivery - explaining exactly why and what you are doing - is refreshing, and for that I thank you. Forgive me, but can’t help the feeling there’s a touch of the antipodean coming through in your narratives…………..

Ron, you may want to get on the freecad forums and give them a hand with their descriptive terms, things like height not being named depth are things programmers just dont get.

I am also a long time CAD user, I started with Prime Medusa on Tektronix 450s!!! - I appreciate your feedback and your journey. - You are detecting English with a slight touch of American which sometimes get mistaken for Australian. I have just been back to blightey and topped up my accent for the next year ;-)

You should add "boolean operation" to your video's title ✌️ Thanks for your great tutorials 👍

I thought about that but TBH with them being so short, I thought people would just look at it. Maybe not?

@Adventuresincreation It would be better for people, who are looking for "boolean operation" in FreeCad without knowing your channel

@@alexxustube I as well would sudjest to make videos dedicated to specific button/icon with funciton title and thumbnail. So if someone interested in specific icon, can find it quickly.
