Sunday Service 7/21/24 Judges 14 "When Jesus Came Part 1"

Why is this message titled "When Jesus Came" when it comes from
an old testament Book about an Old Testament character???
Here's why... Sampson, though he started well in chapter 13, here in chapter 14, has become selfish even to the point of trying to coerce his parents to do his bidding... But when God wants to work through someone, He always gets His way. Twice in this chapter, the Holy Spirit comes MIGHTILY upon Sampson to effect God's will.
When the Holy Spirit came mightily upon someone in the Old Testament, two things happened. It was temporary, and almost every time, someone or many were going to die because of judgment.
When the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus, it was for the salvation of all mankind, with those who believe in Him receiving that salvation. Jesus had to come because God's people refused to have a Holy King but instead wanted a man to be their king.
When the Holy Spirit came upon people after Jesus, is was so that they would be witnesses to Him, because now the Holy Spirit was no longer temporary, but living inside us working through us transforming us into His image to bring the message of His Gospel to a fallen world.
Christianity is the only religion that can claim our God lives in us. We reside with the Trinity. Where God is, there also is Jesus and the Holy Spirit. So when the Holy Spirit came mightily upon Sampson, there also came Jesus.
