Domestic Assault cases in Missouri are often one of the most misunderstood areas in the law because of the stigma associated with the concept of domestic violence and abuse, but also because of the State’s interest in prosecuting it to the fullest. Unlike a typical assault charge, domestic assault carries with it specific elements and has unique consequences.
Many times those who are accused of domestic abuse don’t know where to start and don’t know how to best approach their case and deal with the consequences it has, not only on their own lives but the lives of their children or oftentimes a significant other. It is important that you have someone on your side who is experienced in domestic assault cases. At the Krupp Law Firm, we have are experienced in this area of law and know how to approach your unique case.

I was assaulted annually for about a decade by the Ex-, usually during her visitations. She was of equal size, weight, and strength. She often used weapons (pogo stick, baseball bat.) I reported every incident to the police and to the courts. Several times the police took confirming photos of sizable bruises. Despite the evidence, the DA and the court repeatedly did nothing. When our daughter was in the third grade, I asked her where she would like to live if something were to happen to me. Her two choices did not include Mom. I figured the best witness to her choices and reasoning would be the court counselor. The counselor apparent asked about her relations to her mother. She told about a fight she had with her mother on the school grounds several months earlier. At the next court hearing, the judge on his own initiative issued a permanent restraining order. Several months later, the Ex- came by, wanting to borrow some money. She had stopped payment on a prior check, so I refused to loan her any more money and went back to work. She kicked me in the genitals. I landed on the ground in a fetal position and was wiped out for nearly two weeks. The DA finally took action and the court issued an arrest warrant. They made no effort to execute the warrant and dropped the warrant in less than a year. The Ex- was never inconvenienced for any of her antics at any point. The daughter has wanted nothing to do with her mother for over thirty years now, but gets along fine with all her other maternal relatives (and me.)

What you said it’s not exactly the truth. I was assaulted, I had several punches in my face and a kick in my face . I got in the bone around my eye a fractured line and I lost color in my eyes for 2 months. There were 9 , 911 calls from the neighbors. Two jurisdictions came, sheriff and police and nothing happened to my husband. I think he gave money to the police and nobody press charges. I was admitted at ER in a hospital and the hospital records said assault, my eyes were black my hand was black to stop punches in my head and I was in sock medically. They couldn’t stabilize my temperature. You tell me why he was not arrested? A simple dispute and I ended in ER. I tried to find out about the sheriff I went to the DA and all dismissed me, you know why, because I am a minority immigrant and I guess even though I am us citizen nobody give a shit about me. White rich men get away with a lot in US.

As a woman working to help women and man, the police favor the women over the man. My father was abused by my mother so I have the unique opportunity to advocate for both men and women. I believe you because you are speaking out against your injustice. More than likely she was narcissistic. You need to educate your on narcissists so you are better prepare to make the right choices in your next relationship. Be careful out there.
