I'm diving into my first set of Zenith Strombergs for a friend that has no carb experience. I've learned a lot in the last month from books and videos. I much appreciate your expert tips and will remember them as I work on these on a '74 TR6. It had many problems with flooding, not starting and fuel in the oil pan. I hope to solve them all. Thank you from Texas.
Great information! ZS 175 cd2 - When re-installing a main jet into the body, how far below the bridge area should the top of the jet be? I saw several people say .110" measuring to the inner recess where the needle enters...Does it matter what engine the carb is on ? mine will be used on a '75 MGB that I will "de-smog"
John, Thank you for the comment. The jet is matched to a needle for various applications. But once I saw a list of combinations across various makes and models, and there are not that many variations. I was surprised. Your use on a MG…I am not sure but I would give it a try. Practically speaking, a mixed needle orifice set up would muddy the situation. I would use the recommended setup. Joe Curto can set you straight and send you the correct parts. Inexpensive. Take advantage of his vast knowledge. The .110 is a starting point. I find it too lean on my TR6. I’m likely .20 I’m using his adjustable jet and really like it. Hope that helps. Reed
Many thanks for subscribing. I’m hoping I can improve someone’s situation with a few tips from my lifetime of fooling with tr6s. If you are rebuilding carbs, I suggest you buy parts from Joe Curto. He’s got good stuff, likely every part in existence, and he’s very good about talking about your individual situation. I use his adjustable jet assembly and it’s a real performance boost. Many thanks again.

Thanks for the tips. Looking forward to the paint video.
Good information for these troublesome devices.
Can you show how you put the new axle sealings in?
