Is God’s Chef Really the Worst Moral Orel Episode?

- This episode is often considered one of the series’ biggest low points, if not its lowest. Is that fair though?

This is probably one of those episodes that was a lot funnier in the writer's room.

or funnier to teenagers. I first saw this episode when i was in the 8th grade and couldn't stop laughing.

@@PresbianTier Exactly. And there's nothing wrong with that. It's repetetive perhaps. But the basic joke is so brutal and without chill. Delivered in a hilariously lighthearted tone. Especially because it makes an innocent child into a serial rapist of adults instead of a victim. Which would be funny to me as a teenager because It reverses the expectations of society and the media on youngsters like me at the time.
What I really hate about gods chef is that it’s the second episode of the show. Whenever I try to get my friends to watch this show, every time I’m like “I swear to god the rest of the show isn’t like this please keep watching”. Really sucks that this episode ends up being one of people’s first impression of the show! It’s such a disgusting concept.
Yeah, this is why I stop watching the show (this was the 4th episode I see)
Lmao same with BoJack Horsemen. Please please watch all of season 1 it’s totally worth it

How they okayed God's Chef with no issue but the episode with Bendy and others was too much, blows my mind a little.
Ong bro they’re allowed to joke abt r@pe light-heartedly, but god forbid it’s taken seriously?🤨
personally, i think the first few episodes were supposed to be extra crazy and exaggerated. it pulls in people wanting to enjoy some dumb stupid comedy, but then goes 360 with its dark and way too realistic themes. it goes from "haha, that kid is getting punished for making the zombies nude instead of starting the apocalypse" to "oh dang.. that kid just got shot for trying tell his abusive, alcoholic father that he was drinking too much"
Hello.
I'm that person who actually loved Holy Visage.
It's one of the first episodes to indicate that Orel might turn out okay. He's not ready to do a complete 180 on what he's been taught, but he does seek to at least passively give the guy who his beliefs end up victimizing the means to help himself. Orel's maybe not ready to admit to himself that he's starting to see some cracks in the ol' foundation, but subconsciously...
Honestly the satire of holy visage is much more on point, almost to the point of being on the nose.
Holy Visage is a REALLY good episode tbh
i loved it too!! i was so surprised to find out it’s technically the lowest rated episode
Agree I was surprised it wasnt that well liked.
The only episodes I don't like from this show are, The God's Chief episode, the pee episode, and the Zombie episode. God's Chief because it essentially turns Oral into a rapist. The Pee episode because it just feels a little too dumb to me. And the Zombie episode felt like it broke the rules of the universe because aside from that episode the show is relatively grounded in a world without supernatural things happening.
The Zombie episode is one of my personal favs.
I personally love all those because outside of what Moral Orel is at heart it can be just a fun dumb comedy show too that is more akin to the likes of South Park and other Adult Swim comedies. It doesn't devalue the overall message of where the show leads and it's more just about them having a dumb comedy while also leading into telling a truly gripping story.
Personally I would’ve put courtship as one of the episodes
Yo same! Those three are my least favorite too! They seem out of character for the rest of the show.
ngl i didn't really like most of season 3, probably because 1. they had to rush it 2. the comedy just didn't hit that hard considering all the other depressing stuff that was going on
Irony that in Geniusis, Putty wears a "God's Chef" apron
I’m sorry but the smile he has when the girl catches him is absolutely hilarious. Had me dead. 🤣
Also Clays's ,,Why? I mean... Come in!"
Don’t apologize, this episode is legit hilarious
I like how no one points out that janitor just barged right in the stall of a kid in the bathroom while he's going number 3
I know right? That was beyond fucked up!
I just binged the entire show a couple days ago and to be honest, I don't really have any major problems with any of the episodes. Some are weaker than others in my opinion but none of them are bad to me. In fact, I say it is one of the best things Adult Swim has ever done. The characters are interesting, the setting is serial yet relatable, and the stories poke fun at how society views religion. It really is a gem that you have to watch at least once in your life if you like dark comedy.
agreed, there wasn’t a single episode that didn’t make me wanna watch it anymore
I think God's Chef would be a good episode if they didn't go the rapey route. Sexual repression and demonizing is something some religious people do (Obviously not saying everybody is a religion participates in it) and would be a good topic if it sticked to Orel's character. I think most people can agree that Orel would never willfully r@pe somebody. If they changed what Orel did with the thing Clay told him it would be a good episode. Like if he made cupcakes or something it would be a solid enough episode and could have some sort of message. Thus sounds rambley but whatever.
Yeah, I agree. This was the episode that made me not watch most of the show. Can't get over the rape bits, and the fact that there's no real consequences or discussions of all the children he would have fathered... that's just not funny to me. Making cupcakes with his "glaze" would have been way better.
Yeah like South Park and Butters' sports drinks he sold 😭😂
Many people with say a paraphilia of some kind become a priest as a way to not have those awkward _why don't you have a girlfriend/wife_ questions not be uttered, as a way to stay hidden, much the same gay people have did in the past, and as we have seen paraphilia+sexual repression=a very bad outcome.
Even good natured people can do horrible things with the right amount of repression and desperation, they're still solely responsible for their actions but I understand that coming from a place of irrational thought caused by that desperation you aren't really going to think as clearly.
I know it would've been extremely controversial to have a discussion about paraphilia but it's oftentimes a topic very few are educated about, it should be discussed more often and done so in a mature matter.
Omg that's way better make orel repent through baked goods
@@missconstruct6968 they basically did that in waste but with pee
I didn't like God's Cheif because it turns Orel into basically a rapist. And since the whole town is really religious these pregnancies will be brought to term and all those families will be permanently traumatized. In my headcanon, this episode didn't happen.
As for the other two episodes you talked about, I am actually kind of shocked you/other people don't like them because I think they are pretty good. Turning the missing link into a conservative talk show radio host and denying the proof in front of their face and the ending result being the whole world in the future doesn't believe in science, was really good satire.
The same thing goes for the one about the guy being impaled. Denying medical care in favor of faith healing is representative of those really crazy religious people who go to one of those, mega churches where the paster screams about healing someone and the sick person feels better for a moment. And throws away their medicine. Or those crazy "Christian Scientists" who don't go to the doctor because god will save them.
My favorite thing about Moral Orel is seeing how people lie to themselves and contourt the truth so they never have to change.
Side Note: I really like how the Jewish guy rearranges the medicine to look like Jesus so the townsfolk will use the medicine. And I also like how Oral does the right thing (bringing the medicine cart to the Jewish guy) but in a way where he can pretend to himself that he did it for a different reason to preserve his faith.
As for the show's stance on religion. I don't think it really hates religion just when people use religion to suit their own agendas. It's pretty much a satire of the super religious right that was more prevalent/relevant when Bush was in office.
Yeah, God’s chef was disturbing to me, I can’t even watch it lol
I have to think it's in part because he's religious that he dislikes the missing link episode

This is a good comment
Well I think you're forgetting this show is from adult swim and early to.
God chef in retrospection is probably one of the lowest on the list and just like the zombie episode kinda muddles the canon a bit. Orel has like at least 6 children that are never referenced or seen again. also does not really seem like a logical jump for orel to make in my eyes. I laugh but it's such a one note episode it's just gotta be in the bottom three.
Wdym? Beforel Orel, and quite frankly most of the show, shows that Orel is incredibly suggestible and willing to believe almost anything at face value. So him believing in "God's Chef" and that him being able to reenact that role would allow him to masturbate morally is totally believable for his character.

“House Fancy” is mostly a boring SpongeBob episode, and I feel like people mostly remember it for the infamous toenail scene.
It’s probably the sole reason House Fancy goes on people’s worst lists. There are still a lot of stubborn people out there who still put it in the same league as a Pal for Gary.
honestly yes that one scene is what makes it one of the worst to me. just, oh hey, below average episode of a kids show BOO HERES A SCENE OF A TOENAIL BEING GRAPHICALLY RIPPED OUT, ENTRAILS AND ALL, HAHAHA
you never go for the nails in slapstick man. never.
Is that the same episode where squidward accidently rips the skin of his eyebrow off? Or that a different episode
Honestly I always liked that episode, there is just too much good for me to put it off because of the toenail
House Fancy is hilarious what
Your discussion about the IMDB score vs your overall thoughts got me thinking about certain movies that have been hyped to hell as "the worst thing ever," yet you watch it and are somewhat underwhelmed by the fact that it's just run of the mill bad. The Emoji Movie is a pure example of this for me.
Yer nothing can truly be an acurate depiction quality, the only person who can decide that is you and your own thoughts on it even if you dislike something years later you can go back and like it, then suddenly not like it again. It's really just depends on moments and feelings.
oh god i forgot about the emoji movie 💀
This is the episode that got me hooked. I was very interested in Orel and how his innocent view on the world could end up being completely twisted and turn anything relating to religion into chaos and showing the flaws of living a life based only on religious beliefs and how there needs to be some sort of balance. I also thought the concept of the “lost”Commandments hilarious.
I almost wish they used the lost commandments gag more often
9:36 I loved it! I think it was a great episode because of how it was resolved; Orel actually solved the problem through pretty unique means. To me, it’s a big sign of character growth, and a major shift for him.
I’d say my least favorite Moral Orel episode is Geniusis simply because it bored me. I won’t skip over it, but I definitely don’t think it’s up to par with the other episodes. Its just…average. The other episodes are generally above average and really good, especially in season 3, but that one just fell flat. My favorite episode is by far Numb. As bad of a person she is Bloberta is my favorite character and having an episode like that that expands on her character more is really nice to see.
I agree
Numb was honestly one of the 3 episodes that disturbed me the most. The other 2 being Alone and Grounded.
I didn't like geniusis as well it was too boring
yeah that one definitely bored me, i was spacing out and not really caring to keep up with what happens throughout the whole thing. its just one of those episodes that makes me feel like its a waste of time after and during i watch it
Genusis and Elemental Orel are probably the two most boring episodes in the series... but I agree with you that Numb is pretty amazing. Whenever No Children plays in that episode, I get chills. Especially that final shot of Clay and Bloberta just lying separately
Watched the show waaaay back when it was still being aired. It was a terrific show that got the King of the Hill treatment imo (kicked around by the network and eventually cancelled to make way for shows that were not near as good). I remember the God's Chef one being one of the highlights of the season, just for gross creepiness, but didn't care for the zombie one or Genuises, which seemed a bit by the books and boring.
Like you said in the video, season 1 was where the show was finding its voice. It went from a show that mocked moral absolutism, where Orel could be easily led to the most disastrous actions, with a Looney Tunes continuity (no further consequences after the episode ends) to a stunning and chilling Southern Gothic character study.
I don’t really understand why you thought geniusus was more vindictive or mean-spirited than the rest of the show. It points out the way people react to information that doesn’t fit their world view: Smashing it and reshaping it until the square peg somehow slots into the circle hole. The town tries to reshape the evidence of evolution into evidence for young earth, and the moment the cracks start to form they turn off their radios and ignore it.
The only episode I always skip unless showing someone the show for the first time is Holy Visage; I don't find pain funny and it actually grosses me out a bit. There are a few good jokes in it but the nasty bits just gross me out too much for it to be worth it. The wound looks very realistic after it gets infected honestly
me too. not just because i don’t find it all that funny but it’s just so nasty, i hate how detailed that wound is… just makes me feel sick and bad for the doctor
I still like the episode, but for reasons other than that. I agree with you that the whole wound gag is disgusting and unfunny, but there's still a few good jokes, and the ending was the first time I genuinely felt super proud of Orel
Definitely. So gross
The thing with the geniusis episode, is it came out at a time when there was a massive amount of right wing Christian radio hosts, right wing Christian pundits, and pastors/priests were making the news by spouting full on creationism, not “science explains creation” creationism. So it’s extra ham fisted like the other episodes you mentioned from other shows at the same time.
Oh man, I remember those days. Those were some dark days. I'm so glad that the creationists lost that battle.
You know what? I now actually wanna go back & check out geniusis again. I only saw it once, & don't remember much. All this talk about it, makes me want to check it out again.
Also, worst SpongeBob episode for me? A Pal for Gary, no contest.
I'd say the one where they try to make Kamp Koral kanon...err...canon and have that character Narleen come back to visit Spongebob was far worse. Among other things it was just freaking dull. It felt like a mandate from Nickelodeon to keep shoving the KK series down the audiences' throats, and besides, Narleen's a pretty skeevy character for a kid's show. She gave the camp goers essentially G-rated moonshine in one episode and in another guided them to a nude beach. I'm never one to clutch pearls at a cartoon show, I've seen and enjoyed far more risque stuff, but there's just something about the character that screams "shouldn't live within 100 feet of a school" that SOMEONE should have questioned in the writers' room.
I see your point and I raise you: One Course Meal.
Eh, no. Was Mr. Krabs completely out of line? Yes. Didn't Plankton try to enslave the entirety of Bikini Bottom in the movie, so technically he kind of deserves it and would totally do the same thing to Krabs if the shoe was on the other foot? You better believe he would. And frankly, it's not nearly as deep and disturbing a psychological torture as what Patrick does to Squidward in Ink Lemonade. The bit where Squidward sees an elderly version of himself still working at Krusty Krab? Ouch. I'd rather be eaten by a whale.
For me, comedic sociopathy is at least interesting and makes me feel something. I'd much rather a mean spirited episode than something entirely forgettable and boring. That one with Narleen is just boring, bad, and it feels like Nick forced the writers into making that episode to awkwardly tie in to Kamp Koral.
@@mightyfilm Never seen the one with Narleen or Ink Lemonade, I'm assuming they're recent? To me what makes One Course Meal horrible is not only the suicide jokes in children's media or Krabs' joy in driving Plankton to that point. And it's not being done in reaction to Plankton vilely wronging him in that episode or anything, either. Krabs is just some guy who happened to find some information and is doing this for the hell of it. If Plankton had gotten himself into some life-threatening situation with a third party and Krabs was in-different or took pleasure in it, it'd be a lot more understandable.
@@onettaviator5396 Very recent. The Narleen one, I reiterate, feels like it was a mandate to integrate the worst character from the spinoff into the show. By comparison, Patrick's parents made a recent appearance, but it was identical to their previous appearance on the show, not even utilizing the designs from the Patrick Spin-off or even Cree Summer as his mother's voice actor. You can tell which Spin-off is getting more love from the network.
Anyway, Ink Lemonade is FAAAAAAR worse than One Course Meal. You can at least blame Krabs's actions in OCM on his frustration with Plankton trying to constantly sabotage him and the fact Plankton is indeed a bad guy with a history of malicious intent. Ink Lemonade is Patrick and Spongebob (but mostly Patrick) torturing and terrorizing Squidward so he shoots out his own ink, and selling it as a drink in a stand outside. It's also basically a thin plot that really just utilizes a series of gags of various ways in which they scare him, so the structure isn't quite as solid either.
*"God be praised!"*
I was hollering back then and I'm hollering now 🤣 this episode was a nonstop rollercoaster from start to finish
God's Chef definetely doesn't give the best impression to a newcomer if all you heard from Moral Orel prior was the reception from other people
It has that "South Park feel" to it. Season 1 in general has that overall tone that Adult Swim absolutely loves. Raunchy (borderline) edgy black humor that has little to no continuity to it all.
Season 1 is also hard to binge (as all episodes are available on HBO Max) because of its repetitive formula, even though it'll take less than two hours to actually watch all ten episodes.
Even so, Season 1 has a lot of good episodes and it is still worth watching, just at a slower pace as you can quickly exhaust yourself watching the ten episodes all at once.
Rape jokes are not funny to me, but I laughed my ass off at this episode because of how fucking insane the plot was. Its not good in terms of the canon of the series, because Orel is portrayed as a good hearted character, and him raping all the women in the town makes him worse than Clay, but I cried laughing when Orel got caught in the act 💀
As for me, the episode I dislike the most is Holy Visage, open wounds getting contaminated with germs are one of the few things that make me genuinely disgusted just from thinking about it, so that episode is a no-no for me
Billy and Mandy has the best rendition of them "Ape-Man Story", just out of it being Fred Flintstone.
I thought he said eggman until I read this comment
I don't dislike any episodes in particular, but I do tend to not re-watch the very early episodes as much as I do later ones. For me, God's chef was only ok, but I love the Geniusus episode.
I feel like I’m the weird person who genuinely loved this episode. Objectively it wasn’t the best, but I guess I just found it hilarious that he was just impregnating every woman in Moralton. Maybe the pure fucked up nature of it just resonated with me. Honestly, I got hooked on the show because of this episode.
I remember watching the first airing of God's chef, so in order with no expectations other than an adult swim show, it was hilarious in the way that everything moral did was too over the top and blatant. We were still learning that he did everything because someone in town would have some way of interpreting the bible and he was a kid with no idea other than "the right thing to do is what the adult Christians tell me."
Yeah i agree with this. The episode is so over the top and ridiculous that it's disturbing nature just becomes hilarious. It's like a John Waters movie, where it does something so offensive and in bad tatse it comes back around to just being funny.
Am I the only one who loves every episode? Even if a scene may have content that's kind of scuffed (like God's Chef), it's still funny as hell.
My least favorite episode has to be Orel’s Movie Premier, it was extremely boring and I had to force myself to watch through the entire episode
Are you kidding? Even with Joe's interruptions?

@@afriendofepicproportions the episode is boring and weak, joe is way funnier in other episodes
@@afriendofepicproportions Joe is exactly the bored part xd
Damn I could list like 10+ moments in that episode that made me laugh
I'm late to the party but I'd also argue Holy Visage
It kinda drags with Dr. Chosenberg's constant pain and near-death experience and the wound is _so uncomfortable_ to look at with each time it worsens
Otherwise it's not too bad in its humor
This was the only episode of season 1 where I actually laughed at. (I laughed only once at the ending where he was caught)
I think the only reason God’s Chef was even created was because maybe they wanted to show how masturbation is a sin or something like that.
Personally I thought that pee episode was worst because it just felt disguising and something you'd see in a kid's show but God's Chef is a close second.
gods chef makes me the most uncomfortable (maybe. holy visage is pretty gross) but geniusis is one of my least favorite because it’s boring and forgettable. all my opinion of course but it’s the only episode i forgot everything about after watching
I agree with pretty much everything you said, but my one issue that you didn’t mention is how God’s Chef is hypocritical to the rest of the show. When you look at Alone or pretty much anything with Nurse Bendy, the show takes the subject matter seriously. It cuts deep and you understand the hurt. God’s Chef just makes a joke out of it, and it carries over into the rest of the show. Like I’m pretty sure one of the headlines in Alone is something along the lines of “Serial ***ist on the loose, and it’s not Orel this time” - this serious moment is made either into a joke or made uncomfortable (depending on the viewer response). They try to have serious commentary, but you have the fact that Orel did this horrible thing once hanging over the town.
Now, to some, this may feel a bit poetic and like it works, showing that even if Orel learns he can never truly escape the mistakes of his past, or maybe they see how Orel justified his actions and understand how someone with more malicious intent could justify their actions in a religious society, creating context for how a serial ***ist could exist and go so long without being caught. Some may see this as calling out the hypocrisy in the world, taking seriously something that was made a joke early on and making people realize how messed up it was that they thought it was funny.
However, to me, God’s Chef is the worst episode because in addition to the flaws you pointed out, which usually could be chalked up to it being the 2nd episode and they’re still figuring out the characters, the flaws don’t end with the episode, and they cast a shadow over the rest of the show. To some, the shadow may make the rest of the show cut deeper, but to me, it just makes it uncomfortable, and I understand why some consider it to be the worst Moral Orel episode, and some don’t even consider it to be canon.
I still say God Chef is the worst, Orel way is too out of character and that particular type of humor is something out of a show like South Park.
Funny enough, South Park did an episode that did something Similar, but with a more sensitive approach lol
Holy visage and geniusis are some of mine and my partners favourite episodes. We love your videos and loved this one too but we're so surprised when those two came up lol. Still thought what you had to say about them was really interesting though. Can't wait for the holy visage video !
I love this show so much and I've been looking for videos on this, thank you for this content
I made a comment on a clip from this episode and a guy said that this episode wasn’t canon as “the first season isn’t canon”. Just because you don’t like a season or episode doesn’t mean it’s not canon.
The one thing that I wonder about is that no one ever acknowledges that theirs dozens of orals children being born or about to be born. What happened to them? Did the families move or leave town? We’re they born or did the pregnant women “fall down some stairs”?

The morel oral the better! Such an underrated adult swim show! But my favourite is still robot chicken. I’ll love it until the very end. Of whenever that ends of course…
The worst episode without a doubt is the episode where orel shows off his stop motion movie
What??! I really enjoyed that episode.
This is my favorite channel on RUclips. Oh my gosh! Keep it up!
I thought I was the only one who hated Geniusis. It’s not like a bad episode, but man it seems weirdly goofy and out of place in the second season. The show was starting to get very serious every episode and that was just so weirdly first season. And I didn’t like it.
God's Chef is not my favorite at all. It is, however, one of my husband's favorites. I found the writing pretty weak but I did get a few giggles out of it. Like when the woman wakes up and Orel is just smiling at her i lose my shit every time
This episode to me was hilarious and just overall very silly dumb fun like your typical Adult Swim shows, of course if you take the rest of the show it is really the standout in an otherwise Dark Comedy about the growth of a child in a toxic setting. But on it's own I still just get a laugh out of it cause it's just really dumb fun like many 2000's comedies.
Satan or Genuises is probably my least fav as well. But honestly I don't think any are outright terrible because I think comedy at the of the day is the most subjective of all genres and I think Moral Orel's comedy can be my type of Adult Swim silly humor like Sealab 2021 or ATHF.
Offensiveness is one of the most eHhhHhh episodes for me. The scene where the farmer shows Orel where eggs come from just completely ruined it for me. The very end w/ ms censordoll is so uncomfortable i hate it so much. My tolerance for uncomfortable situations is so low 😭
...how did you get through season 3?
@@honeycomblord9384 it was a struggle to say the least
I like Offensiveness, as it shows that when you picket & ban things, because they're seen as "offensive" in some way or another, eventually the group that is causing everything to be banned, that they deem offensive, will come for something that a member of said posse truly cares about. It's hilarious to see the one thing that that Ms Censordoll actually loves, be deemed as offensive, & end up banned. She was even hypocritical in trying to say that eggs were ok, even though they come from so-called "naughty places", just cause she loved them. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This was the first episode I ever saw of this show I was 13 and extremely unsure what the f*** I saw
I really like the episode where he keeps drinking pee and puts it into cups over and over again and selling it for a profit. Remember that one? His dad flipped when he found out! Lol
And the comments on this video show exactly why "Moral Orel would be a huge hit today" is not true. They barely got away with making it the first time; they'd never get away with it today.
the show would be canceled just for that episode these days, lmao
Oddly enough, this is the only episode I remembered watching when I was younger and what prompted me find the show and watch it now as an adult lol
My favorite Moral Orel episodes are the ones when the show fully embraces its own identity instead of trying to be like South Park which is what they tried to do in this episode
I can understand why these episodes lack. God's chef, sounds like your typical your parents trying to avoid that talk. Geniuses, the argument of religion or philosophy against science then use science to back your religion or philosophy argument. God's Visage, repeat what I said earlier. Not thought out. At least episode 2 has the defense of getting a footing, but doesn't apply with the other two. Forgot the last two so I can see why these episodes are forgettable.
Favorite episodes. Necronomicon, crack, and alone.
Worst episode. Have to go with geniuses. Not that bad, but has a better visual of religion or philosophy argument vs science.
The crack episode is fucking hilarious!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This and the pee episode are the worst two imo
Gods chef for me is just meh although it was my first episode years and years and years ago when I was wayyyy too young to watch it lol but my favorite will always be charity

Isn’t it hypocritical that adult swim let this get away but not the season three episodes
I love this episode but that's more because it reflects how I was brought up and shows the logic of that kind of thinking
I'm so glad someone's talking about this show
I remember waking up in the middle of the night and this episode was playing I stayed up to watch it went to sleep confused
The episode I disliked was "School Pageant" and oddly I liked is "Sundays".

Bummer, I was waiting for some examples of how the characters in God's Chef were actually acting out of character. I just don't see that, I actually love the episode and don't feel like it's that out of place compared to the other first few episodes of Season 1.
I also find it strange that Doughey can be groomed by a rapist ice cream man for laughs and nobody bats an eye, but Chef's Kiss gets so much criticism. To me it's in the same vein as Adult Swim's weird issue with "Alone" despite their tolerance for Chef's Kiss. Just a bizarre double standard.
I actually really like Holy Visage
how can you watch that and enjoy it😭

@@pinkfeather1512 i personally like it bc it's one of the few times (before nature) that orel seems to know that the other moralton citizens are wrong, and actively goes against their teachings in order to do the right thing. the scene where he gives the doctor the medicine while pretending he's just giving him the jesus figure is very sweet, and i think it's a great moment of characterization for him to show how much kinder and more reasonable he is than the others.

God's Chef is awesome. NOT the worst episode... Worst is the Orel's piss is a Sports Drink...
I like geniusis because it did the "ohio expanding to become the whole of the US" joke with Moralton before the modern version with ohio and it was better imo. Also i have a soft spot for evolution vs creationism parodies because I literally had to get a permission slip to learn sex ed and evolution and I feel happy knowing I'm not the only person who doesn't think that was messed up
Gods chef always felt like they where doing 2 things. 1 seeing just how far they could get away with things in the show. And 2 trying and failing to make an amusing commentary on religious interpretations of masturbation. Unfortunately what they ended up producing was a really uncomfortable story and No jokes that landed.
I thought it was funny...till the ending. That was disturbing.
but I think they were trying to do a message episode more than a comedy episode.
Name one memorable or interesting thing from Elemental Orel. If you can't, you'll understand why it's my least favorite episode.
Orel: Gosh, my mom is treating those people like they're her family
Doughy: I don't know, Orel.. She looks like she's just ignoring them, and fed up, and not at all happy to be there.
Orel: Exact...ly
But I agree, the plot is weak and unfocused.
This episode was the episode my mom first watched and this tainted all of the show for her.
The thing about early Genesis is that it’s widely considered apocalyptic, rather than a literal account about the origin of the cosmos. People like Dr. Michael Heiser even pointed out that Genesis 1 is reflective of temple consecration and likened Earth to that. Furthermore, ancient Jewish culture was extremely present-oriented, and as such, they weren’t particularly concerned about protology or life after death; survival was the name of the game.
Young Earth Creationism is actually the new kid on the block in a relative sense. Various figures throughout Church history from St. Augustine to John Milton to John Wesley rejected the notion of the world being less than 10,000 years old; that notion, believe it or else, had its origins with Seventh Day Adventism, which isn’t considered part of Christianity. That position was latter adopted by John Morris and people like Ken Ham and Kent Hovind.
im glad its a fan-wide opinion that God's Chef is the worst one, it made me so uncomfortable in a different way to the rest of the show. i just feel like its one of those bits thats funny in concept but when put into practice its just kind of. weird. & offputting. not even in a thought provoking way LOL
Hey if you can you should get the DVDs and listen to the cometary. Their fun and have some insight. I like how you say the 3rd season is the best witch I guess it is. In the cometary, he says something about how he wanted to make the show about the people of the town and revolve around Orel anymore which the 3rd season does more or less. In fact, I think he said he wanted to make a spin-off called moralten or people of, something like that
I have to skip holy visage not because I hate it but I just remember the first time seeing it literally disgusted me. Seeing all the sick people coughing on that poor man and everyone just tying him down so he can't even save himself was upsetting to me. I watched it when I was still in high school so maybe seeing it now will change my view but it was just so very.
I also hated Genuisus, I didn't understand the point of it. I know everyone was just hushing down the theories of Darwinism but it just felt very unfitting for the rest of the story. I feel like they could've gone about the idea another way but they just kinda slapped down the script and thought "yep this is it."
As for God's Chef, I understood why Orel did what he did but I also don't understand why he felt the need to do it..? Later on I know in Before Orel he feels like he has to prove himself to God so maybe thats why he wanted to be of 'use' to him in that way... But I also just didn't like the idea of it at all and it made Orel be very creepy and not the innocent kid we viewed him as.
Lastlyyyy! I hated the zombie one. I know it's the pilot episode and all and they were still figuring stuff out but I truly didn't like the cross into sci-fi. I feel like within Moral Orel they made it a point later on to kinda say that religion is fake and these fantasy things don't really happen, so with the dead people coming back to life it really just gave into the idea that God could be real and all these other things are possible when as the story continues it very much shuts down these traits.
Overall, the build up of the series is just something that I love, we slowly uncover all these character traits from all the characters and it really builds the town and how, we as viewers, get entwined within it and see in depth how messed up it all really is and how lost everyone truly is.
I'll go ahead and add my favourite episode if anyone is curious, but it's Sacrifice. I absolutely love seeing Clay spiral, his monologue in that episode is amazing and I whole heartedly love it, I also really enjoy his spiraling in Nature but its actually so mf sad seeing Orel cry when Clay says he hates himself so I try not to think about it too much. A very close second is Be Fruitful and Multiply, just cause I have parental issues and seeing the Reverend and Stephanie bond makes my heart tight.
God’s Chef is def the worst episode just cause it really shouldn’t have tried to turn rape into a joke rly. geniusus just sucks, but it’s not distasteful. Gods visage is mid, but I do like it
Fun fact: sperm only last ten seconds outside of the start, so the second episode is actually factually correct
This is truthly a "we did it Reddit" moment
If you ask me I think Honor is the worst episode, I’m still crying 😭
I wish they hadn’t ended the show before it’s time, and they had made an episode about all the babies that resulted from this.
Orel on some insane timing😭😭
I didn’t like the episode Love. Its more personal because I have had fellow Christians tell me dogs don’t go to Heaven. And that just reminded me of that.
love hearing some shrek extra large background music
Usually for Moral Orel for me at least I don’t develop many aggressive negative opinions I think that might just be the run time being a bit shorter than most cartoons I watch so if I see a stinker I’m already onto the next one
If this is the worst episode than that's how you know it's a great show
Because this episode is still Hilarious
Me and my gf actually liked this episode and laughed so hard at this, while the first episode didn’t really get us and we continued only after giving next episode a chance. Then we got hooked and finished it yesterday and oh boy what a rollercoaster of emotions this is. Love how it goes from chaotic comedy to paying attention at real life problems, like Sexual Assault analogy in one of the episodes in 3rd season about women of moralton.
I’ll be honest, I really love Holy Visage. I have admittedly only seen the show all the way through once, but upon that first watch, it did stand out as a personal favorite from season 2 for me.
In Czech, orel means eagle.
now why did you say u didn't find it disgusting that's not- 😭
Because I watch gross out shows all the time. It’s really hard to gross me out.
I actually really like God's chef while it's not as strong as a lot of these episodes from seasons 2 or 3 I actually think it's the best episode from season 1 maybe that's just me with a dark sense of humor idk but I think it's really good
The pastor's mug kills me. His "boss" is god.
Wasn’t this the only episode where clay kind of admits to his lies for Orel?
