  • 2023 Peugeot 3008 has 48V hybrid system now with 136 HP. The Peugeot 48V Hybrid system consists of a new generation 1.2 PureTech petrol
engine (136 HP), the battery (~0.9 kWh) and new 6-speed dual-clutch electrified
gearbox (e-DCS6) that includes an electric motor. The electric motor, built info the gearbox, develops a peak power of 21 kW (28 HP).
It allows the vehicle to be driven
in electric mode for low torque
    requirements and assists
    the combustion engine
    to reduce its consumption.
    During deceleration,
the e-motor acts as a generator
    to charge the hybrid
    system’s 48V battery. WLTP figures: 5.6 - 5.8 l/100 km.
I checked Peugeot 3008 2023 Hybrid on a trip with city driving, country roads (sub-urban), also on highway. Finally I achieved 4.7 l/100 km (50.1 mpg US, 60.1 mpg UK) on ~66 km (41 mi) distance. See how this system works and for how long the combustion engine can be completely switched off.

It consumes less fuel than the 225 or 180 plug-in version with empty batteries. An interesting proposition for much less money. Is the new dual-clutch gearbox as smooth as the EAT8? Or is it at least more responsive?

Thanks for the video. Also as far as i know, brand new 3008 will come with this engine at next year.
As an owner of 2021 model 180 hp 1.6 3008 GT, im wondering how does eDCS6 performs after EAT8. Performance is good? I mean i know it cannot be like my 1.6 180hp but its important for me. Because im in love with my 180hp :) Does it performs well in terms of speeding, acceleration etc?
I’ve heard that its much much better than 1.5 130hp diesel engine in terms of performance. Another reviewer said that its performing well than diesel engine. What’s your opinion about it?

I have already tested 5008 with 1.2 136 HP AT6 and I have to say: it feels much stronger than it is in reality during daily use. But, 136 HP is still 136 HP, so the performance during strong acceleration is like 136 HP.

Thank you for this video, it really makes me thinking whether Toyota's full-hybrid actually worth it or is this mild-hybrid is good enough. You didn't seem to do the highway-only test-drive at constant speed with this engine, but I think it doesn't matter, as all energy comes from the petrol, so at constant speeds I think the consumption will be the same for both full-hybrid and mild-hybrid. So it all boils down to lower, variable speeds when the deceleration energy will be stored in the battery and reused at acceleration. Unless you descend from higher altitudes, you don't really need big battery. As every deceleration will be followed by an acceleration, so a mild-hybrid can consume similarly as a full-hybrid. This video proves it. Someone wrote below a good reason beside full-hybrids is that they also power the AC when you stand still. Maybe another factor is that Toyota hybrid engines doesn't have a turbo charger, as their electric motor is stronger. So their ICE starts/stops rarer than this one's. But then this engine is smaller, probably starting up easier. And if a full-hybrid engine doesn't run for a few minutes, will the oil sink and when it restarts the engine might wear? Well, well the equation is not that simple, there are pros and cons beside both of them. But I think I'll choose this mild-hybrid, thanks again!

    • @1001cars
      @1001cars  5 месяцев назад

Yes, I did not have a chance to test fuel consumption highway, but I tested Peugeot 5008 with the same drivetrain and you can see the difference in all conditions: ruclips.net/video/AAoBu99B11M/видео.html
In reality, this Hybrid from Peugeot is a full hybrid system, like Toyota. It is much more advanced than Mild Hybrid systems. Also: at high and constant speed hybrid system does not give you advantage, but the thing is to lower the consumption in a city and MHEV is not as good as full hybrid with that.

hi, I have 3008 mild hybrid since January 2024, and when weather is not very hot, the consumption is very good (in my case, style of driving, etc, is around 6l/100km or less). Now that is very hot (more than 34-35 degrees), the consumption is more like 8 l/100km. The Air Condition, in hot conditions and if you are driving during midday, keeps the engine running longer, which increases consumption

Assume that time is proportional to distance. If the average consumption on the whole trip was 4.7 l/100km, then the consumption while the engine was running was 3 times higher, which is 14 l/100km. That's a lot. Even if it's a smaller value, it's still a lot. With this type of hybrid, it is better to have the engine running all the time, and the electric motor only handling the accelerations and decelerations.
