@@lilplayboy98 Lui Kang and Shang tsung in the original MK was the same actor also Ho Sung Pak. THE UNMASKED Sub Zero in MK3 also played the MK3 Shang Tsung as well! Same goes for Kano and Baracka... Same guy played those 2 characters

Optical illusion. It's the contrast of his black and grey pants with his leg. You don't see shadows on his pants. That's why it might look a little odd.
And the guys and gals doing this had no idea just how far MK franchise would go. Nice to see history and one of my best childhood memories in the making.
Playing this game as a kid, I never would have realized just how painstaking and time consuming it was to make this awesome game, especially the motion capture parts. That alone looks like it must have taken them a year just for that.

That's what made it special like no other game back then. It looked real and the fatalities were surreal. Once it went 3D polygon, it lost its uniqueness and fatalities are uninteresting and looked fake.
I remember reading some old magazine in 90-s, where it was said that Kano's implant was a last-second improvisation by Boon who could not decide how to make Divizio's character not look plain and boring. Then he found an old Mardi Gras mask in his hoard and inspiration struck, he cut mask on pieces and that was it.
This might be one of my favorite videos on RUclips, or hell, one of my favorite videos ever!! Everything down to the thumbnail, the slowmotion, the un-included moves, the variety of oponents, the good audio(Most of these videos just have blasting music), the credits, and of course, the video quality, make it awesome! It's an awesome concept to begin with, too. Nicely done! If a part two or an extended version could be made, I'd love it. This is almost perfect: It could have used some more videos, like the Test Your Might ones, and maybe a few more bonunses, perhaps. Either way, amazing!!

@@TheGamerking247 They were actually in the process of doing exactly that, but then Midway folded and WB canned the project, releasing the Arcade Kollection instead. There are some photos floating on the net showing the new actors in costumes and all that.
I heard somewhere that they all felt silly doing all those moves and stunts. Then the MK team started putting everything together and they were all amazed on how well it looked. They knew they had something really awesome before it exploded bigger than what they were expecting.
At 5:13 you can figure out that ot is not the same take of johnny cage's high kick, because in the set he has his left arm extended and in the videogame cut he got his left arm down.
I'm all for technology evolving over the years, but it's a real shame stop motion isn't used any more. It really is a dying art but gives a real finesse and "raw authenticity" to the final product.
This is digitizing, which is when the game developers take videotapes and pictures of real people and turn them into video game sprites. However they did use stop motion to put Goro in the game, since a human being with 4 arms doesn't actually exist.
The video we are seeing is the secondary camera, not the primary one. That one took higher quality shots, otherwise the images would have been much more blurry.
@@RygirIt's the quality of the video here. The video is clearly VHS, and not the SP quality either. They were using something higher end for the digitation process. Why we don't have the footage? Probably wasn't uploaded anywhere. I've never seen the proper footage, though I have seen stills taken from them, and they are SO much clearer than this video.
This was the only arcade fighting game wich I mastered all characters to the point of being almost invencible with any against any. Still my favorite MK wich I think it looks better and is more violent than any other MK, probably because to nostalgia, but I do.

They had the guy in the Scorpion costume do Sub-Zero's moves, and then they change the colors on the actor's costume on the computers from yellow to blue to make him look like Sub-Zero after they film it.
Damn I miss the days when they would take pictures of real people or models, and use them as video game characters. Then again I also liked it when they had FMVs in live action or 2D animation for the story parts. For some reason I thought that since all the ninjas were played by the same guy they just had him wear a blank outfit, and then digitally made him different colors but apparently his costumes really were those colors.

So basically you're technically killing real people in the game.
