2024 NYGP at OVRP - Heat 1 - 6hr Endurance Race - #44 Team Shake 'N Bake

This was the longest endurance race I've done so far, and the first time I stayed overnight for a race.
I was excited to kick off the day with a Le Mans start, but I was immediately disappointed by our Kart #44 shortly after.
The kart was underpowered compared to the karts I had during practice sessions. This was my first time here, and I still set a faster time during practice with other karts than I did throughout the rest of the entire day in this one.
We were supposed to swap karts twice, which is supposed to even the field a bit, but unfortunately people were destroying the spare karts, and we had to refuel ours in place when the time came.
I was disappointed to lose so many positions in the first lap, which was partially my own fault for a mistake at the top of the hill; but I at least drove decently well across the whole day, and managed to avoid many accidents and spins.
Overall, I had a great time and I was happy with how well we functioned as a team.
Moments:
0:59 - way too late on the brakes at the top of the hill in the first lap costs me a lot 😔
1:40 - start a battle with #21 that carries on the rest of the heat
6:50 - another successful divebomb by #21
7:10 - failed divebomb by #55 , luckily i saw it coming and could avoid the crash
14:27 - #55 goes for it again, and forces me out of the way this time
16:40 - I get distracted when the flagger tries to tell me something and I drop speed because of it, leaving room for #21 again. The next lap I give a 👍 and he does the same, so I assume it's nothing? 🤷‍♂️
22:55 - I have a chance to race with Andre for a bit, but mess up T1
