Hi everyone !! Saw a lot of people dismissing Flat Attack so I had to put something together to clear it up, haha ~ hope it was helpful! Aaaand I forgot to mention it in the video, but the values used for substat comparisons are a "mid roll" - which is 9% for Bonus DMG lines, and 50 for Flat Attack. FLAT IS JUSTICE Edit: Flat attack ranges from 30-60, not 40-70 ! But, 50 was on the lower end of the previous range and now is a bit higher than the average roll value (45), but despite that, the conclusions don't really change ~ If you use a Flat Attack value of 40 in the maxed Encore example, it still matches Basic Attack damage - and this is a low roll we're comparing ! In every other situation, using a Flat Attack value of 40 still far outweighs the alternative bonus damage options.
Another interesting question is how ATK (flat and %) buffs compare to Bonus DMG deepen from outro skills. I've been wondering how worth it is to build a mortefi if my dps don't even use Heavy attack, so those deepen outros have been on my mind.
You are SO GOOD at explaining things and showing the actual numbers without over or under-hyping it. Seeing the gain comparison in bar graphs is so helpful so thank you for taking all that time to do the math and editing!
oh wow just found out you play wuwa, I am so happy to hear the math queen makes content on a game I play again, I'll be able to watch all your vids again :D much love from a tof era viewer coming back
Loved your work on ToF back when I was playing, and I'm so glad you're covering this game too. You're the most objective youtuber I know, so I'll keep following what you do!
Really interesting vid, looked forward to this! I had a gut feeling Flat Attack wasn't a dead stat, also your code looked clean, you were locked in :D Hope you find more time for this kind of content & twitch streams around other obligations.
In conclusion, Crit, crit dmg, atk%, flat atk substats should be your standard in term of maximizing echoes. Good to know that flat attack is still better than a specific damage bonus even for a focused damage-type character.
I am one of those people who from previous experience would have thought Flat Attack is bad in Wuwa too. And I have TC experience in Genshin and HSR. So it's cool to see it's different for WuWa. Especially with having higher roll values. Just looked it up. A maxed out substat for Flat Attack on a relic in HSR gets you 126 Attack. Nobody is every going to want a piece rolled into only flat attack, so at best you will see like 20 - 40 flat attack per piece minus the gloves. That's like 100 - 200 flat attack. On a 3000 attack character it's a 6% increase. Ok but nothing earth shaking. For the same amount of rolls you can 25% - 50% attack and now we are getting 250 attack - 500 attack on top of a Firefly with her LC who has almost exactly 1000 base attack. So since I am used to seeing such huge gaps in efficiency I never even thought about games where this is not atrocious. Nice video. Thanks for the insight. By the way have you thought to take all this logic and put into a web application instead? Your spreadsheet is really cool. But naturally it's reach will be limited compared to a link that can easily be shared and indexed by google. And of course a website will win in the mobile department hands down. If you need help I could volunteer as a react/java/php software developer. Would give me the chance also to learn the ins and outs of WuWa a lot better.
DPS calculator in the comments? That's a subscribe. I can't believe it took youtube so long to recommend your channel to me, but I suppose it did eventually.
Cool to see the actual math implications that it is useful. It’s something to remind yourself that although Atk percent looks better because it’s a percentage, you have to look at how much it’s actually increasing by. In most cases the percentage is just a little more than flat attack so flat attack should be given more respect than it gets.
Thank you for being the only person who says both why something is better and the reasons behind it with on-screen examples Your explanations and damage calculator was the difference in me getting 1 star against Memphis in the tower, and all 3 stars Always looking forward to your next videos
great video. I did notice that my Calcharo with both 50 flat and 10% atk buff, was arguably better than my other 3c echo with a very low crit roll and other useless rolls. this video puts into perspective that flat atk is to not be disregarded, thanks for the info!

oh thank u for the feedback ! and honestly im a bit surprised that it took this long for someone to comment on the audio - i actually expected a comment about it earlier.. ! i changed my mixing procedure this time around and think i went a bit too heavy on the EQ, it had me moping for hours because i didn't wanna re-record it and i accidentally deleted the raw voiceovers haha~ next run, i'll do better !!
@@Maygi great! probably people didn't comment because they were using headphones and I watched your video on a potato laptop. I'm eager to see your next videos. thanks for the content!
I had a feeling flat attack was actually kinda good but I was still discarding pieces that rolled flat attack early because HSR really conditioned me into thinking it's useless. This video is amazing, didn't know it was actually almost on par with attack %, and didn't realize damage type % was so awful.
I'll be real with you. Echo exp is so scarce that if I just get right main stat, at least one crit substat and enough energy rolls overall, maybe a bit extra to give more flexibility on rotations, that's good enough for me.
I wanted to say thank you for this very informative video in a see of very inaccurate ones (so far)! Hope you keep covering Wuthering Waves in the future. And, I would add: “Flat is for connoisseurs.”
Apologies in advance in case this comes off as an irritating nitpick At 2:21 there is text at the very low end of the screen, that says: "*Of course this isn't to say crit is stronger than crit damage it's just a matter of which one you need more" "**full substats being a mid roll of crit, crit dmg, ATK% and bonus damage on each piece (so 4 good rolls)" at 3:58 it can be seen again, but the graph still needs attention because of the data changes to it For as long as I keep the video paused, the media player control bar at the bottom will obscure that text, as opposed to hiding itself while the video plays. I have gotten around that issue by using the Lightshot app. Besides this though, the video is S grade. The lighthearted diminisher stacker segment was also a pleasant surprise. So much so, that more and more I think I underrated your editing last time... Not sure about flat being JUSTice, but it seems more JUSTifiable now! :v
Oh! I didn't even consider that part - I'll definitely think of some better place to put those little footnotes for the next one :3 Thanks for the feedback !
Nice video, this time it was a lot easier to understand and is reasonable, altough perhaps I missed it but I would have liked to see an additonal part that shows that higher ATK also means an increase in Bonus Damage multipliers because do to the damage being (All ATK stats added together * All Bonus Stats Added together), but also its important to have bonus stats or mathematically you will do less damage.
I knew it! One more thing is, wuwa forces us to do quickswap rotation, abusing the intro , outro, echo skills. So general atk increase is really beneficial.
THANK YOU OMG people are so blind after 44111 43111 crit stats that they forget that Atk is also important or, in some cases, it's the most important stat.

In addition, I didn't know the X dmg% like Skill or Liberation is added to elemental dmg%, I don't think that is a basic knowledge, could have said that they are added together and then say "so it is extremely diluted".
I'll keep a note of this, thanks! I did include notes for crit values at the bottom of the screen (crit and crit dmg technically have the same "value" but it just depends on your current stats) but I think it would make sense to address verbally next time :3
Ahhhh I was wondering how useful those heavy , basic, ult damage bonuses are, and I was also wondering how much they actually increase in different scenarios, since I'm too lazy to do my own research I never did any maths and just used whatever I had, well now I know the priorities thanks
