Diarmuid a long time political agitator was active in London from 1967, in part two he talks about the Save Moore Street Campaign the scene of the final battlefield of the 1916 Easter Rising. The campaign started when the National Graves Association was alerted to the removal of the commemorative plaque from the facade of No 16 Moore Street. Diarmuid also talks about his involvement with Marxism-Leninism and Anarchism.
We Only the Want the Earth" by James Connolly from the James Connolly Song Book, edited by Connolly and published 1907. No air or tune was indicated and it has been put to a number of tunes over the years.
Diarmuid sings it to the air of a "A Nation Once Again" by Thomas Davis in the 1840s, which also supplies a chorus for others to join in. Diarmuid first heard it sung to that tune many years ago in London by a group of musicians and singers including Cornelius Cardew, of the CPE (m-l), who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in an incident without any witnesses.
Diarmuid Breatnach was active in the Vietnam and Rhodesia solidarity campaigns, Anti-fascist mobilisation, Solidarity Ireland, family squatting. In addition the campaign against the Prevention of Terrorism Act and the 1969 Peoples Democracy march from Belfast-Dublin.
