ROC mining is probably the strongest argument for a PIT interface with the ship that allows us to open/close the ramps or elevators from the seat of a ground vehicle. A garage door opener, in other words ;)
Cool idea......I see a lot of issues if you have two ships spawned though 🤣.
engineering gameplay and the new mobi will offer every bit of tech they would need to remote control doors...lets just hope they allow us to do that.. most likely we are pressing a button on the mobi to do that, ship selection is already there.

You can open the ramp from the pilot seat before you get up after you land, alt f open all doors

Whats really cool is if you have a buddy in a prospector who can tap the rocks with his laser, they pop so quick its not even funny. Then you can scoop them up while he finds another patch to pop.
Been ROC mining for the last few days, made a tidy profit whilst working a team with a friend; A quick tip about the ROC mining laser not clearing the door: Turn on and off mining mode, this fixes the arm, and never power off the roc completely. For some reason powering off causes the arm to stick up straight, it also makes the ROC unstable in a ship, constantly jittering back and forth. Made over a Million over the last 2 days (divided in 2 for the both of us), gonna try to do some more tomorrow, just to see how much we can make. EDIT: Never made it to the part where you explain the arm bug lol.

Press F and turn the ROC off manually clicking the button to solve the arm problem.

1:55 if someone is having trouble to fit the ROC in cutlass black, this is the cause.
These days I've spent over an hour trying to fit, logging off, claiming, trying again until I gave up.
Days later, trying to fit it one more time, I've noticed this laser position (up) hitting the roof.
Just activate the mining mode and deactivate again, it'll return to normal position (pointing forward, folded) and then it fits easily.
You can also fit two rocs in the Cutlass which is nice as well if you have a partner.
Month late but it’s still bugged, arm resets after it goes to mining mode.
I'd appreciate it if you did an updated Roc mining tutorial video! 😊

Just in Case, If you get a Error Message while selling. Go into your inventory, Split your Stack into multiple Stack of 3 Units and try that sell again. That fixed it for me.

Top Tip to reduce the ROC breaking down upgrade it with 2x Defiant coolers & 1x Tepilo power plant both sold at microtech ... also full power to shields !

Nice video. Got me hyped to try ROC mining. I bought a ROC ingame, went to magda, mined one deposit, sold it, made 17k profit. Aaaaaand my ROC is broken since. Can´t activate my laser because i´m supposedly in an armistice zone. In the middle of nowhere. Typical Star Citzen. Okay cargo hauling it is. Nope the cargo grid on 3 of my ships is "full" and it cant buy anything on moons, except scrap and waste on planets... Maaaan i just want to have a chill evening....
Sounds like you are having the normal SC experience for sure. It's an extremely broken game.....but pretty. I just posted a short today where I fell through the elevator 😞
@@MrSlvr2000 Yeah, it´s a shame. Performance is really good otherwise, compared to previous patches, but the bugs that totally break entire game loops are wild. I hope 3.23.1 and .2 come really fast. Have a great day.
That issue with the Roc arm is a known problem, basically the arm will bug out and point straight up. You can fix it by getting in the roc, and entering and then exiting mining mode, as you find out later in the video.

Perfect! Might just spend an evening doing this to earn some money. Ever since 2.23 dropped I have really struggled with making any money besides doing salvage.

@@matteobarbarini3120 no, most of the time that's a hot spot for pirates so I normally stay clear. Not worth the risk IMO

Just spent 2 hours renting equipment, finding and mining rocks, flying back to landing pad to sell. Then suddenly my character catches on fire and burns to death inside my ship and respawn in hospital.
@@GoodCitizen. Honestly it sounds like a normal Star Citizen experience
The mining arm sticking up is a bug that has been present for a few patches now. If you cycle mining mode it will snap back to place, but could randomly stick up again. Keep the ROC powered up, but turn engines off, and the arm will stay down.

You have to activate the arm then turn it off again to get it the ship. The arm is partially open.

Aphorite is still bugged. You can sell max 3 at one time. Not knowing that I had over 3k units of them .... over an hour to sell all of them click 3 at a time 😂😂

yes I also do mining with regular roc, I can get 800k from it, with roc ds it can get 900k if the storage is full in one go. Aberdeen has a lot of hadanite
I'm always too worried about 30 k's or game crashing to fill one all the way up

@@nicz7694 yeah I just wish it worked all the time for me.....recently lost a full load of prospector during a 30k and I've lost cargo on my vulture. All during this patch. So it's not quite perfect yet.
I have Virpil flight pedals with toe brakes that I couldn't figure out a use for so I bound the right pedal's brake, which shows up as an axis, to the mining laser power. So now it's more like stepping on the gas and letting off when I mine :)
Not a bad idea.....I originally had mine to a slider on on my flight stick
@@MrSlvr2000 I would have done that if my left and right stick sliders weren't my up and down, lol. There's actually little mouse-type wheels on both grips, but they only function as button presses. Had to be an axis to make it work properly.
You can rebind the power level adjust to just mousewheel so you can mine totally 1 handed
I actually considered that while mining.....there are a few keybinds in general I need to redo. Especially on my sticks
I do kind of wanna get into mining. But a prospector is expensive. This might be the way
I know it's hard to grind the game when they wipe all the time. But that's how they get people to buy ships and such as well.
ROC mining was always my go to money making thing in SC. ROC mining was broken for ages which is why I stopped playing. I usually do Aberdeen or Daymar with clusters of between 6 to 14 rocks, but might give Magda a go. Where exactly do you go, I assume under OM1 as with other moons?
I always go to perlman, head around 150 direction and start scanning around 100 out from it just to be safe.
You can also turn the ROC off and on and the arm will fix itself.

Freelancer Max, one of the best ROC mining ships there is. Easily holds 2 ROCS and is easy to get in and out of.
Yep! Great ship as well! I find the cutty easier for solo just because of the landing gear and such.
@@MrSlvr2000 I agree with the cutty landing gear, and I also feel like the hatch on the freelancer is a but more fragile, But the freelancer max is easier to drive in and out of, and is much easier to haul two.

I feel like i saw this video... 4 years ago. the 3D GIF of the ship looks different, the UI looks damn near the same. Same rocks even. So no progress in Star Citizen in 4 years?
I'm a huge critic myself most of the time.....but there has actually been a ton of progress in 4 years. Whole game loops have been added.
Whenever I take my ROC out on this patch when I’m driving it around it just comes to a stop and I have no idea why. Once it stops I can’t get it going again. Any idea I need help with it?
I've honestly not had that issue yet. Best thing you can do is claim it again so you get a fresh one and see if that fixes it.

@@Onceapilgrim that's a new one on me, the only thing I can think of is maybe try resetting the keybinds and see if that helps.

I wasn't able to sell my aphorite I don't know if that was just me or what but yeah didn't let me sell that gem but the other gems able to sell
So the comments say it's glitched. You have to separate it in stacks of 3 to sell. It was news to me as well.
The Last Time i Mined, I didnt find a single rock for the ROC. Only Prospector rocks
I have to be honest.....I've never had that happen before. Try Magda, where I was in the video. I find tons there

the only issues I am having is how the heck do you move gems from the ROC to your ship I have tired 3 times.
Like in the video it should pull your inventory up and you should be able to drop the cluster of gems and drag it from your inventory to ship

Except that the mining arm breaks constantly and you often can’t sell gems because of a price mismatch error at the terminal. But, ya know, other than that it’s fine.

I haven't had an issue selling rmc at all. If you check UEX you get the info you need to sell your rmc. Just play fair and don't dupe.

That's something I can't answer for the C1 as I've never even used the DS ever. We always just dual roc mine with regular rocs
I bought a ROC in-game and mined 210 Hadanite on Aberdeen. It only sold for ~60k, no matter where I tried to sell it. How do I get better prices like you got in this video?
Edit: It looks like you had 529 units as opposed to my 210, so that makes sense. Follow up question - how did you get 529 units from a single scan location? The one I mined had about the same amount of rocks as yours, and I grabbed every single Hadanite drop
There has to be more rocks to mine at a location, and the density matters as well

3.23 has made ROC mining useless for me - the ROC cant even climb a small hill!!!! Also finding next to no gems on Arial and Aberdeen. Cant load the ROC in my C1 or my Cutty black either, keep getting too many issues. Prospector FTW - they need to fix the ROC ASAP!
They do, it's an issue and they know. Just not a priority. They probably won't even tell us when they fix it 🤣

Been ROC mining for years now, and yes they really destroyed the ROC, it used to be fast and agile, now its just a worthless slug that cant climb hardly any hills or over any rocks, what a waste, been complaining since 3.18 but they dont give a crap about us miners. What I don't understand is the new scanner, on the right of the scale is whats called the "PIERC" and I think its the range of the scanner ie 360 degrees to 50 degrees scanning the circumference around your ship. Anyone know? I have been experimenting with it but don't make much sense to me, as usual they change stuff when it worked fine before. really pisses me off that they screwed up the ROC so bad after the ground effect change they did after 3.18!!!
I don't understand half of what they do.......it's in alpha, they call us testers but limit us in what or how we test 🤣. Like putting caps on how much can be sold. If I go to sell something and can't sell it ....yeah not doing that anymore 🤣. I think you nailed the scanner....and I agree it's the view around the ship that scans.
So this worked for me after getting the hang of it. But if it's actually correct I don't know..... So I scan 0 pierce so I get a 360° ping. I then scan at 100% on each individual marker this scans only that marker. If there is a cluster of marks once you ping I think or it seamed that that's clusters of rocks that seamed to big for it to mine. If I had a single mark ild mainly go for that. I'll ping again when closer and if it had like a light diamond kinda thing in the marker then it usually turned out to be gem clusters.... Like I said I could be totally wrong about all of this because it worked for me. Sorry about the essay;) gl
@@robertc642 no problem theres alot to be said on this, I tried it after my first post and scanned at 100%, 75%, 50%, and 0%, but will need to experiment more I think 50% is 180 Deg. not sure yet, one other thing, I hate mining in the dark so always try to keep the Sun high and head west, but now the compass no longer tells you NWSE, just numbers, so I figured out...I think, East is 0, and West is 180 on the compass, verify this if you can ok? Scanning the rocks now up close to tell what they are is really wonky, trying to keep still and keep the rock green, I usually just check for Pink then I know I got Hadenite lol Shit I could write a book on this shit lol. Been ROC mining since 3.15 and boy its been a battle to deal with all the constant changes they pull on us, and all the glitches and bugs with mining, but I am a gluten for punishment and keep going back cause thats all I like to do in this game, to many years FPS and tired of that.
How not to be exploiter in this game!? I flew and flew and detected nothing. No 'unknown' markers both Daymar and Magda. It used to be such a pleasure to find hadanite and mined it but now it's closer to impossible. Why do you cut the experience and showing only the mining? Why didn't you show the time till you find even one 'unknown'... I raged quit this morning such a frustration. Thank CIG.
The roc feels weaker than i remember. It can have trouble climbing inclines and clearing small obstacles

Easy just not super profitable. I love renting ships but rental prospector kinda makes a lot obsolete. You also need something else to carry a ROC
Prospector you can rent like immediately and make 100k a trip every 30min without trying. They should do a salvage ROC itd probably actually make money and be fun
With a prospector you need a ship to carry the cargo as well. So that's still two ships to rent plus you have to refine it then take it to sell at another location. Time = Money with the roc you can sell immediately at the same location you call the roc at. Just two cents.
Lol over an hour and not a single cluster of hadanite. Only to be killed by 3 npc ships... Awesome.
I’m new to SC and when I was learning to ROC mine I tried mining on Magda and could not find hadanite anywhere. Now I purchase the heat armor and I mine in Aberdeen and almost every gem cluster I find is hadanite. Hope this helps
