Additionally, the closest divine beast is piloted by Revali, who has a penchant for showing off, he probably blew up the mountain to show how cool he was
OH MY GOD, if it was one of the Divine Beasts that did that, I want Nintendo to do a little thing in BotW where they add a new Memory with Revali testing his Divine beast on a mountain but accidentally shot its beam, and then Revalis like "Huh. @@OtakuTemmie I think those are two different places, the first is to the west of Tarrey town and East of the Akkala citadel and tower. And the second (where Link almost died) is south to Kakariko Village, east of the Dueling peaks in the Necluda Region.
The area beyond dueling peaks is whwre link made his last stand vs the guardians. Pretty sure its in one of the memories, and i thought there was a book that said something about it. Not sure tho

I'd like to imagine this is why there's no divine beast stationed there. Theoretically it would be perfect due to the difficult terrain that only a walking or flying beast could navigate quickly. Sadly though they didn't account for weather causing inaccuracies, so much that the divine beast melted the mountain it was using for cover.
“Vah Ruta, fired!” “Vah Naboris, fired!” “Vah Medoh, fired!” “Vah Rudania......” “....” “....” “....” “.....did you just miss?” “ GOD DANG IT, NOW MY MOUNTAIN HAS A HOLE” “Shut up, I’m working on it!”
I like this theory! I don't like the idea of a meteorite cutting through a mountain side though just isn't practical - the entire mountain would absolutely have exploded and rubble/debris would be strewn EVERYWHERE. DEFINITELY more evident of one of the beams like you stated, would explain the reason why there is no rubble/debris whatsoever.
Yeah I think, ignoring other issues, a meteorite would leave an enormous scar on the other side as well. Looking out of the hole in the continuing direction doesn’t give any indication of that.
And with all this in mind, the craters along the edge of the chasm are more likely either mortar or debris impact points from testing or the battle itself.
Yeah I had a feeling as soon as I'd seen the shape of it that I knew it'd be a Divine beast's laser. But dammit his voice is just so buttery smooth I had to keep listening. 😂
Can you do a video on Crenel hill? It has stumps from more giant trees in one place than anywhere else combined, and a lot of enemies of different types gather there.
The stumps may be a reference to Minish Cap, with Mount Crenel being the location of the Games second dungeon, and stumps being one of the many portals to the minish world.
I reckon it was that leviathan under Hebra Peak had a battle with a Ice Talus or it just went through the mountain... I mean it *did* have a pointy head.
At first, I thought it might've been Dinraal, since I once read a dialogue that suggested the twin peaks were separated as the result of one of the noodles flying through it.
A very insightful take on an obscure part of Zelda lore. I didn't even realize that Hebra Peak had that hole. I've been in that spot, but I never saw it from far away
Stone Pebblit: "A very young Stone Talus. Their bodies toughen as they mature, becoming as tough as boulders by adulthood. As a child, however, their bodies are light enough to be lifted and fragile enough to break when thrown." - Hyrule Compendium A pebblit would have to survive a fall from the universe, but they can't even survive being thrown by Link. Looks like they're just evil rocks.
It kinda looks like whatever caused this destructive beam originated from the Zonai ruins... Like, just look at 6:33, the beam aligns perfectly with that particular area, it's almost spooky. I also always found it a bit strange how the divine beasts were placed on the map, with there being such a large distance between Vah Ruta and Vah Naboris.
Visual storytelling made up for the lack of actual story in this game which I actually liked. I just wish there were more hints or places we could go to learn more on the land of Hyrule it's various lore. That's what I'm really hoping for in BotW 2.
Exploring the land and filling in the details of what probably happened is a lot more fun to me than forcing me to sit through exposition, not saying story taking the front seat is a bad thing cause it’s not but I like putting things together myself
@@ThatAnArchyDude I didn't mean Metroid Prime like as in first person. That would just be weird for a Zelda game. In that game you can scan some script on the wall to learn about the history of the Chozo on Tallon IV. What I meant was that it would be cool if BOTW2 had something like that for the events of the Great Calamity (Zelda's diary is a great example). But it would just be a side thing for the most part and the main story would still play out in normal Zelda fashion.
That's what I thought too. At first I thought Dinraal but when he brought up the unclimbable ice in the hole, I thought Naydra was more likely. To be fair though this only caused a hole in the mountain while the Duelling Peaks literally got split in two.
If what you said about the location of the battle is true, it could also possibly be from Calamity Ganon, as during the final fight, Dark Beast Ganon uses a dark beam attack.
Dark Beast Ganon's beam is the same color as malice but the remnant of the ice in Hebra is an eerie blue, like the Guardian's laser beams. Also, the way Dark Beast Ganon fires his dark beam couldn't leave the same topographical mark as the hole in Hebra Mountain. He always starts his beam from the ground and then goes up. The hole in Hebra Mountain denotes a beam that was fired already from elevation at the start.
I'm really happy you bring out actual interesting theories not covered before, rather than a certain 10 minute video telling me things I already knew about the damn Paraglider of all things... ....in 2019.
“A whale like creature” *no fam, thats a Molduga.* (Edit: guys, I know it’s not a Molduga, however it could be. Theres a small chance...though it’s unlikely) Also, I believe it’s a Dragon who created the hole in the mountain. The Dueling Peaks was originally whole. A dragon split it apart and now remains at Lake Floria, so it’s possible.
There are 3 "whales" series. The Wind Fish (Link's Awakening), is likely the desert one one. Oshus (Phantom Hourglass), is likely the ice cave. And Levias (Skyward Sword) in Eldin, given the head plate.
4:22 Would you consider covering the topic of how long the cycle of Calamity Ganon has been going on? I find it fascinating with having seen Ganondorf's corpse appearing to be the source of Malice. That scene of Impa explaining the events from 10,000 years ago strongly suggests that Calamity has appeared more than the two times we've seen. Has Ganondorf's corpse been sealed since the Calamity cycle started?
Well the game states that the Calamity from 10k years ago was the 1st Calamity. And we can speculate that Ganondorf has been sealed for over 20k years since it seemed to take him 10k years for the 2nd Calamity to happen.
@@Zerolink30 You COULD speculate that, but you're not taking into account the "second Calamity" (from 100 years prior to game start of BotW) only took 10,000 years to happen because it was actually SEALED for that 10,000 years.
@@Zerolink30 Do you know where in the game, or what scene rather, they state that 10,000 years ago was the first time Calamity Ganon appeared? I posed the question to Zeltik because from what I can tell, 10,000 years ago was NOT the first time he appeared. I'm reading heavily into Impa's story of those events. She says the people of that time were technologically advanced, and that they decided to use their wisdom to build the Divine Beast/Guardians should Calamity ever *return* The way Impa words it leads me to believe Calamity Ganon has appeared time and time again. After all, "The history of Hyrule is also the history of Calamity Ganon"
Additional comment: After replying to @@Zerolink30, I watched the cutscene where Impa explains the events from 10,000 years ago. "The history of the Royal Family is also the history of Calamity Ganon" This part is just my own speculation, but having re-read that, I feel like the Royal Family played a role in sealing Ganondorf's corpse. I also side with those who believe his corpse is sealed under Hyrule Castle, mainly because Calamity appears from below the castle and it appears the corpse is leaking a ton of Malice. I wouldn't be surprised if someone thought the solution to stopping Ganondorf was to preserve his body, but it backfired cause Calamity then became a thing. (In line with previous theories Zeltik and others have thrown out about trying to prevent another male Gerudo from being born into the kingdom) Again, this comment is loaded with my own speculation. I still firmly believe we have proof that 10,000 years ago was not the first time Calamity appeared. Zeltik, halp.
@@ThatAnArchyDude ok but what you aren't thinking is that Calamity is nothing but a mere puppet, a phantom of Ganondorf, (mind you not being in control of said "puppet") so what was sealed wouldn't really affect the next "resurrection". Now your answer could of been relevant if not for the fact we learned Ganondorf is alive, sealed but alive, under Hyrule castle spewing out enough Malice to create his puppet/phantom. B4 that it was believed that Ganon had given up on resurrecting and was appearing in a spirit like form fueled by rage, if that had stayed the case then your point would have made perfect sense.
I've been there twice and I noticed the carved out 'carmelized' appearance of the area. Although, I didn't put much thought into it at the time. It's amazing how intricate this game is.
Great video as always Zeltik! As I watched, I was thinking you'd track the angle as you did. My thoughts were maybe there would be a crater and the end of the angle, but I definitely hadn't considered something like a Divine Beast beam from the opposite direction. @@geo4876 Agreed. I was looking for any indication that the blast came from above but with no impact to the earth, its more likely it was shot ground up. Really cool to see worldy scars from previous Calamity

When you made the line from which the whole is visible, I noticed that it also crosses the breach of demise, perhaps that was where the Calamity Ganon first appeared in Hyrule
Considering "Demise" is a character who created Ganon it would make sense to name the location his power manifest after him. That would also explain why a divine beast fired its beam that way, might have been a slight miss or maybe not a miss at all if the beam hit and just kept going. Its probably worth looking at what other landmarks would land on that line, maybe there is a clue as to where the beam was fired from.
Wasn’t this supposed to be a Tower of the Gods Video though? From wind waker? Don’t get me wrong I’m ok with this. But I’m still waiting for that TotG vid.

@@Llortnerof Using the angles of the edges of the "hole". 10,000 would cause quite a shift, in reality, but this is a video game we're talking about. They're not going to geologically analyze the land to that extent when only about 10% of the player base would actually do the same. lol
@@ThatAnArchyDude You can't pinpoint it because the source doesn't have a definite height. Each titan has their "gun" at a different point and height. Naboris' is much higher up than Rudania's. Medoh can fly on top of that. Pinpointing would at the very least require knowing which one did the shot, and that still might only be good enough to cut it down to a few likely spots. At least we can probably rule out that the shot went the other direction, there doesn't seem to be much reason they'd fire from Hebra into Hyrule Field. And since the terrain has often changed majorly even between games much closer together than 10,000 years... (Why did they go so overboard anyway? Even 1,000 would have been plenty. 10,000 would work better if the original usage was against Demise pre-Skyward Sword. At this point the world basically worked itself up from Bronze Age at least thrice by BotW.)
@@Llortnerof That last paragraph was F'ing hilarious, and not far off. lol We could still pinpoint a more narrow area of origin. It just might be the shot Link deflected. At least we'd know where he was when deflected it, and that might give us a better idea of where it came from is all I'm getting at.

Interesting! I wonder if the hole on the west flank of Mount Floria near Riola Springs is from a Divine Beast as well? It's a lot more worn down than the Hebra one, but it seems to be pointing at Hyrule Field as well.

2easonal Elementz haha :D my own (Danish) accent’s terrible, guess that’s why I heard it that way. I just couldn’t resist the urge of sharing my mental picture of two rodents clashing for the future of Hyrule
One other thing that could’ve happened was that Naydra the dragon passed through the mountain. Some proof was an ancient tale the story of how dueling peaks became two different mountains. The story said, there was an ancient creature, hence the dragon farosh, had to forge a way straight through the mountain so it could get to where it was going, therefore I think the hole was caused by Naydra, the ice dragon.
Mangle Foxy I also had another theory that at one point the dragons were not 3 but one, like the triforce. Until Gannon tried to steal the triforce and the dragons split into three, just like the triforce. Therefore the dragon wold balls of ice, fire, and electricity surrounding it. The fire and ice would make igneous rock but the electricity just wards off enemies that get to close.
@Zeltik If you go into the sword trial, and look at the panorama inside the observatory where the monks are, the Hebra Peak (left of the design featuring Vah Medoh) is intact. That hole was created *after* the trial of the sword was constructed. The entire mosiac is very detailed, including landmarks as mundane as the trees fom Hyrule Ridge and East Faron. Something that substantial would have been left in the design, but clearly it was created after this chamber was constructed.
Very well done! Recently, I have been thinking that the BotW sequel will time travel back to 10,000 years ago where this fight against Calamity Ganon will show the Hebra mountain partially damaged. This excites me! There’s so much for the sequel to explore in all these ruins, the 3 fallen leviathans, and so much more.

@@HG-bh2gj Dude, wdym? Fired is 100% correct.
Rudonia is fired
Actually it would've most likely been vah ruta that hit the mountain judging by the direction of the blast
Yeah, any projectile of that size hitting the mountain at high speeds would just detonate, i doubt the mountain would be anywhere near this intact.
Yeah I think, ignoring other issues, a meteorite would leave an enormous scar on the other side as well. Looking out of the hole in the continuing direction doesn’t give any indication of that.
And I say Meteorite because if it were an Asteroid MILES would be LEVELED.
And with all this in mind, the craters along the edge of the chasm are more likely either mortar or debris impact points from testing or the battle itself.
Meteorites are the same thing as asteroids. Asteroid = in space. Meteor = asteroid in atmosphere. Meteorite = asteroid on land. :)
Ah HA, I guessed it was from a beam from a divine beast! The circle is perfectly sized.

Nadra: "Oh a mountain, what a shame.."
The people of rito village:"What the dragon do- OH SHIT!!"
I personally think it's Dinrall, he can be found closer to the peak and he is a fire dragon so he could easily melt the ice and snow.🐉
I also thought it was a dragon considering how Dueling Peaks was cut in half.
Good luck.
BotW 2 looks more like it's going to be more akin to Spelunkie 3D or something.

@@speedude0164 Well, now I'm looking forward to it even less.

@@veronicasawyer6099 Evidence?
It could be similar back story as the twin peaks!?
One of the dragons could've awoken from under the mountain and caused said circular hole.

Would you consider covering the topic of how long the cycle of Calamity Ganon has been going on?
She says the people of that time were technologically advanced, and that they decided to use their wisdom to build the Divine Beast/Guardians should Calamity ever *return*
The way Impa words it leads me to believe Calamity Ganon has appeared time and time again. After all, "The history of Hyrule is also the history of Calamity Ganon"
Additional comment:
After replying to @@Zerolink30, I watched the cutscene where Impa explains the events from 10,000 years ago.
"The history of the Royal Family is also the history of Calamity Ganon"
This part is just my own speculation, but having re-read that, I feel like the Royal Family played a role in sealing Ganondorf's corpse.
(In line with previous theories Zeltik and others have thrown out about trying to prevent another male Gerudo from being born into the kingdom)
Again, this comment is loaded with my own speculation.

How would you pinpoint the source without height data? Especially 10.000 years after the fact, when there's probably been major shifts.

It would have to be something hot, cuz it's basically glass now.

If you go into the sword trial, and look at the panorama inside the observatory where the monks are, the Hebra Peak (left of the design featuring Vah Medoh) is intact.
That hole was created *after* the trial of the sword was constructed.
The entire mosiac is very detailed, including landmarks as mundane as the trees fom Hyrule Ridge and East Faron.
Something that substantial would have been left in the design, but clearly it was created after this chamber was constructed.
