I watched this and totally forgot to comment. Thank you for this information. I laughed after I watched it because every product review/how to ends up making me spend money, lol. But you are so correct, electricity safety is HUGE! Thank you! Sherry
Now that is some beefy protection! I love that it’s essentially to surge protectors in one. You can never be too safe when it comes to protecting your investment and your home. Thanks for sharing.
Exactly!! What price do you put on safety? That is always my first question. We can do without other things, but we cannot do without our rig or our rig working properly.
I use the same set up, except my box is older and does not have built-in surge protection. Hughes also makes a "weather jacket" for the booster box to keep it from the weather elements. My box goes into a milk crate while sitting on top of 2 bricks to keep it from directly touching the ground, still while using the weather jacket. It's a great set up. Then of course we use a security cable.
It's my first time know about this stuff That's the good thing about exploring new things there is always room for new knowledge like you guys shared here.
We didn't know when we first started out. We have been to several parks that the electricity could have had issues. We are grateful for the knowledge from other RVers and companies and we journey full time. We believe it is never too late to learn new things!
Thanks for the video! We've been full time about 3 1/2 years now and have always had a Progressive EMS so have been protected from electrical issues. But recently moved to a park hosting position where the site we are in has constant low voltage problems. The EMS protects us by shutting the power off when that happens, but it happened so often it was pretty annoying. After setting the Autoformer up we have had zero power shutdowns for several weeks now.
We certainly could of used this where we are staying now. We have been under powered so many times. Because of being under powered we fried our new two month old inverter. The only thing it does now is charge the batteries. It no longer produces 110 volts. The cost of this product is way less than a new inverter. Great product and its a life saver as you stated. Great review. Stay safe friends. 👍❤️👏🥑🇺🇸
Here to catch your latest, Our Epic RV Adventure. Even running your ads. :) We need to get a multi meter. We have a nice Surge Protector but not as nice as yours. This Voltage Booster is awesome. I will follow your link and and see how much.
Good information.. Think if we were full time we would certainly look into something like that to regulate power. Seen some pretty sketchy electric in campgrounds. Love our Power Watchdog.. that would really be a plus for the system. Thanks for sharing.
All should know that the autoformer is not waterproof. It has to be 1) covered from the elements (Hughes sells the appropriate cover) and 2) be off the ground to prevent water from getting into it from the bottom (hughes also sells a platform). You could probable buy a plastic foot stool for the job. Thanks for the video.
Definitely need to be aware of the water issue! We recently bought one and had read about that issue so purchased the rain cover along with the device.
Can this be used with an inverter generator. Sometimes when my AC compressor kicks on it slightly boggs down then picks right back up. Wondering if the autoformer will boost the voltage from the generator. This is all new to me.
While I'm not exactly sure what is inside the little gray box, it is heavy and I'm sure it is filled with capacitors, and other electrical components that take uses the amps going in to boost the voltage. My memory isn't what it used to be so my knowledge of electrical theory is not as sharp as it once was. You can read more about this at hughesautoformers.com/voltage-boosters/ . I can honestly tell you that it works as I have been in places providing around 102VAC and this device pushed it to over 110VAC and kept the voltage level constant.
Great advice, Michael! Now I probably will get one for my son, who recently bought a 5th wheel. Thanks!
Great! Let us know how he likes it. It is a good investment for a rig.

Yes!! Safety first!! Glad Hughes makes good products so we don't have to worry.

Yes! They do have the weather jacket which can be very helpful. Sounds like your milk crate set up works well.
Looks like a great product! Of course, it is from Hughes so it must be great. It's on the to be bought list. Thanks for sharing! Steve
You will love it. It really saved us so we are grateful.
Nice! Cue Yoda voice “I have absolute power”. 😂
haha! He with great wisdom will buy Hughes products.
I love my Hughes 30a watchdog. I'll have to look into the auto former. Hughes really makes some great products.
Hughes does make good products! We are so grateful to be able to have teamed up with them.
Nice. Been wondering about one of those and how they are. Good review.
Thanks so much! Let us know if you have other questions about it.
This was a great video. Thanks so much for sharing. Didn't ever know this was available. Kent and Tami
We recently learned about them. We are so glad we did as it saved us from low voltage one night.

That is awesome! We really think this a great product. Thanks for coming and letting us know how it worked for you.

Yes! It certainly saved us one night. You can't put a price on protection of your RV and Hughes makes a great product.
Great video demonstration, Michael. Now, do I have to run out and get one of those Voltage Boosters? It's hard 'keeping up with the Willis'.
hahaha! You should see the Jones'. 😂😜
I thought this was important to know so I shared it on a couple sites around the web. Great information!
Thanks! We feel it is important too. Safety should always be a top priority.

We were glad to have it as it saved us from low voltage one night. We look at it like insurance, worth the cost.

Yes... there is definitely sketchy electric out there. Hughes makes good products so we don't need to worry.
great advice.... if the site has 30a only, can you connect the 50a autoformer using a dogbone?
Yes, but it won’t give you an increase in usable amps.
Great product review and recommendation. We probably need one soon plus it’s easy no installation.
Thanks! Yes! Safety is always one of our top priorities.

Both great points. We use a plastic leveling block to keep it elevated. Thanks for watching!
Definitely need to be aware of the water issue! We recently bought one and had read about that issue so purchased the rain cover along with the device.
Can I use the 50amp Booster on a 30amp pedestal? I went to a park last week and could only get 30amp service.
Yes you can.
Can this be used with an inverter generator. Sometimes when my AC compressor kicks on it slightly boggs down then picks right back up. Wondering if the autoformer will boost the voltage from the generator. This is all new to me.
It will boost low voltage but won't boost current which is likely your issue.
@@EpicRV thanks
How does this boost voltage or where does the extra voltage come from? Please don't just say inside the little gray box lol.
While I'm not exactly sure what is inside the little gray box, it is heavy and I'm sure it is filled with capacitors, and other electrical components that take uses the amps going in to boost the voltage. @@EpicRV Thank you, just like knowing how things work.
Google: "Luv Subbin, How The Hughes Autoformer Works | Myth Debunked!"". Rich provides an excellent explanation.
Build it into electric bay - less chance of it walking - out of site is good
Great point! Thanks for watching.
