On my learning guitar journey, I used to play anything that sounded cool without knowing why. But noodling like that is a self imposed roadblock. I never got any better. Knowing triads, shapes, and notes on the fretboard, that's how to bust through roadblocks and be creative. It actually gets easier studying these basics so it all makes sense. Understanding it opens up all kinds of new inspirations to keep it interesting. Thanks Brian. You're lessons always open new doors for me.
Love it! Your videos fill in the gaps in my theory knowledge. I hated learning theory during my 6 years of piano lessons as a kid, took guitar lessons as a young adult.. learning songs only via tabs…. never played with other people until at the age of 50 found myself in my church band on guitar -- all of the sudden, I realized how much theory would help me, starting with understanding using a capo. 18 years later, still in church band plus an outside bluegrass/ variety band, trying to up my game on electric guitar.
What a great man you are !!!... You explain in a simple manner and, is so comprehensive !!!.... Keep on doing that great job !!!... Thank you very much !!!!..
It is all right there people perfectly explained, demonstrated and played. Thanks as always. For me personally mixing this with my usual pentatonic noodling gave me a whole new sound and the more you practice the less thinking you have to do
I just joined zombie guitar with a lifetime membership. So far it looks awesome. Thanks Brian. Having all your lessons in one place, in order, building and learning guitar skills based on your lesson plan is exactly what I needed.

Fantastic lesson and very cool music track at the end. Congratulations on being the best teacher on youtube! Your explanation and use of diagrams make the difference!
I like your videos, because you tell truly how it is and I understand you better than anothers, and your playing is so awesome but you show me how that works in guitar that is awesome. And btw you are real man in guitar. You know what I mean.
I have played three years and only now I understand little bit this and start to sound real, I don't know if I had practicing very bad, almost noodling and theory shapes etc, I think your ear have to be good when you can play better because I noticed every time I get results my ears get better, sorry bad English but maybe you get it.
Just come up with a cool rhythm or something and then play it like that ??? Don't be getting all technical on me now Brian lol😂 Just kidding... this is another awesome lesson, appreciate your hard work bro, I'm inspired 😎🎶🎵 #1 fan Michael
Thanks, Brian and bravo for your performance. Actually, it's not " sultans triads" , because early used by the Eagles in the Hotel California in the duo solo final of the song.
Hey brain can you make a video on when and how we can use the augmented and diminished scales, what chords do they sound great over and stuff like that.
Hy Soldier Absolutly love your teaching videos i was wondering a queation ? Example suppose you have thea xhord progression you found your scales and and solos how do figure out how not solo to much and also figure out the emotional placement of your solos with out soloung to much when it all sound cool! Could you do a video on this topic?
I don't know why the others video makers don't want to show how they do that, it is all about the how good you sounding , technique and knowledge guitar shapes, am I right?
Could anyone explain why a C# Maj chord was played instead of the C# Min since key of A does not have C# Maj. I am a beginner, so please excuse me if this a very basic quesition. Thanks!
@@ColdCanadian911 either way is fine. I just was trying to demonstrate that the major 3rd is 4 semitones above the root, which is easier to see when both notes are on the same string
Is the C# chord a minor chord or a major chord. Looking at circle of fifths it looks to fall in the minor portion of the circle. When you physically play it as a bar chord first time around it appears your middle finger is down which indicates a minor chord but the diagram is showing a major chord. Then when the arpeggio is played it appears to be a major arpeggio. Not questioning your methods or anything I’m personally just confused because to me it seems like it should be a minor chord but sounds better as major. Can you please straighten me out :)
Yes the C# has been made major. If you watch the demo in the beginning, you'll see that has been pointed out. This is the "major III" chord, which you will see me talk about in a lot of my vids!
Alright thank you. 🙏🏻 much easier now for me to jump from the A to C# major ….much easier fingering than the minor shape. Practicing and playing it now as we converse. Thanks so much.
How I can practice my ears better. I mean you had show but I am still not get it maybe because I don't have even trying only one day a month. Maybe have to get deeper.
Only now I can play with tabs, it is very hard to play one song in guitar, am I right? How long it takes to play one song like in album , I mean everything in that song. It has a very long trip to play guitar and that's why I'm only noodling and improve when practicing it takes too much capacitance of your brain to know everything and play better. You don't always can a practice in good way because you get very tired. But I have proof to me, that is better to me.
I would recommend starting with writing a lot of chord progressions using a circle of fifths. Then I would consider what can I do with it - how to build an interesting lead section, there are a lot of techniques on how to do it. Using triads, targeting chord tones, just noodling around the scale (my favourite), injecting some arpeggios. The best way to start with chord progressions is to look for some backing tracks on RUclips, making your own in DAW or my ultimate favourite - using a looper and creating a song while adding layers into it.

This concept has been around way before Hotel California too...the internet has deemed these as "Sultans triads" though 😁

I see you are using the triads approach on 3 string sets.
Dig song 34........ i have a song 34 too.😎
14:45 may I ask why you chose to use the 3rd on the same string rather then use the third found 1 fret down and 1 fret over(on the D string)?
