Chris Evans runs the same way, and it really does convey a good sense of power moving with minimal extraneous movement.
It's the way runners are taught. I could easily see both of them being runners in high school.
In the case of Chris Evans I think it looks even more impressive because he's taller than Cruise, so someone that big moving with such ease makes the whole thing more elegant.

I'll admit, I've never seen a Mission: Impossible film, so I clicked this video out of curiosity more than anything. Now I'm actually tempted to give the series a shot. You talk with such passion and enthusiasm that I can't help but be intrigued.
I hope you did give it a chance. I had seen 1 & 2 but around 3 was when Cruise's antics on the real world soured me on his movies. But then last year after hearing so much positive about Fallout I decided to revisit the franchise. Long story short - Yeah it's true the Mission Impossible movies get better as the franchise continues. 4, 5 & 6 are a great time.
Circumstances being what they are, I think I'm more impressed with the sacrifice Mikey made to film his running segment than what Cruise does to film his.

Man, I just rewatched all of the M:I movies I had seen and filled in the gaps from the ones I didn't like last month, these movies are rad as hell. Honestly had a good bit of chuckles whenever a "John Woo" thing happened on screen in M:I 2 though, like the dove flying through a door as Ethan enters through the flames... Just amazing.
These movies are just GOOD.
"Ghost Protocol deserves another watch." I'm pretty sure Ghost Protocol is widely considered excellent...

Love. Love. Love this video! First, THANK YOU for giving both Tom Cruise and the Mission Impossible franchise he created the respect they are due. I'm tired of Tom Cruise being treated as a punchline. He is an immensely talented and innovative actor and producer. He takes risks like no one else "just to entertain us." Second, I have always had a special place in my heart for MI-2. It has been panned. But I remember the first time I saw it -- an afternoon to escape my then in-laws and I thought, "This movie is the start of something." And it was. Finally, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your insights on the Cruise/McQuarrie collaboration. When McQuarrie came on board it was like the match at the beginning of the Mission Impossible intro. Thank you again for this video and super-sorry for this long comment. PS -- You're adorbs. Thank you for bringing JOY to so many people with your analysis.
I just want to say that the binaural soundstage mixing of the title is in and of itself the reason why Mikey is one of the greatest content creators

This is my favorite crossover since the Trouble With Tribbles episode of Star Trek DS9. Also, as someone with a chronic pain disorder, I really appreciate how you simply normalized your use of a cane during the skit. I always felt weird about being a 21 year old who needs a cane sometimes, but every once in a while someone reminds me that it's okay. Thanks.

The problem with the Mission: Impossible movies is that it's the same thing: In each film apart from Mission: Impossible 2 is that Ethan Hunt goes on the run and Mission: Impossible 2 was the only film in the series which he doesn't go on the run and actually goes on a mission.

I beg to differ on the running, until he can catch a motorcycle Robert Patrick still owns the title, Tommy is a close second but still not caught a motorcycle...twice if I recall correctly. But otherwise yeah, he does have good form.

The first one is still my favorite, because it was more pure to the show. When they went tech nuts in the 2nd one, I almost lost the plot. Then by the 3rd one and the tech gets explained better, and you see the progression, and when things do not work..... its mind blowing. And, as an actor, Tom Cruise can be freaking amazing. He has had his duds, but even his duds.... are not THAT bad.... and tend to still be watchable.. Do you agree?

I would love a video on the Bourne trilogy, i think evaluating the movie above the source material is such a hard thing. Even LOTR which can be debated, whether its better then the books. Basically, anything that elevates the source material is such a hard thing to do, would love to see more of your thoughts on it.
