I just started riding my dads quad over the summer. He said that he wants to get me one for my own. I could really use some recommendations for a cheap and good quad. When I am older, I can see myself riding this 1000(if I can afford it😆😆😆). By the way, love the video. I gives great facts and really makes me pumped up.👏👏👏
I wrote the best comment that has ever been written on this video the first time it was uploaded... But since it was deleted and re-uploaded the world has been robbed of that Gem! 🤣🤣🤣 Still a great video!
Yes, it was a great comment. This video suffers greatly with its loss. I think our response was something like, we hope Polaris reduces the power steering assist at high speeds in the future. Tires and handlebars are an easy switch. We have heard nothing official about the Scrambler 1000 but with Polaris keeping the 850 in their lineup for 2019 we would suspect they're cooking up something.
Dirt ObseXXion I saw that too. They put a video up & then took it down. This was a great review video. That XP did look a little sketchy when driven at high speeds. Looking forward to seeing the Outlander shootout video.
Awesome review, thorough and spot on description as I decided to purchase this 1000 premium months ago vs the can am 1000 xtp. I’m an aggressive rider as I’ve had 3 renegades prior and this sportsman is night and day different. Love this sportsman but missing my Gade.
We greatly appreciate your feedback. It's good to hear from owners letting us know that our evaluation is in line with their experience. If we are able to, we would like to dress our Sportsman up with an exhaust, clutch kit, and some aftermarket shocks. We have a feeling that would let us give the Renegade a real Run for the money.
So I own a 2018 xp 1000p. I love it alot and wouldn't sell it for anything but I do ride with my buddies and a few of them have can ams and those outlander are solid machine. In my opinion both the polaris and the can ams are neck and neck. Pros and cons to both. It's like chevy and Ford. So saying polaris is the best in the world isn't true. But you are entitled to your opinion of course
I've always had a little spot in my heart for the Sportsman as it was the first ATV I ever owned. It has come a long way since then! That said, I look forward to the shootout video as the Outlander is definitely an amazing machine too that should keep Polaris on their toes.
What's an Ace? Isn't that one of those caged vehicles? Just kidding. Those Ace 900s are fast. We reviewed one on UTV on demand. Wish we could have had more time with it.
@@ATVonDemand I don't remember wich one you tested, the 900SP or XC? The SP (2016 only) with a tune to unlock the 75hp like the XC is $ well spent. It also removes the torque limiters and speed limiter. It makes it a lot more responsive. But seriously, i think 90hp would be too much for a SP and its narrow pace. Will you guys Try the RS1?
For a price budget of 11k what would be the best 4x4 quad? Canam outlander 850 (or lower trim 1000) or a Polaris sportsman/scrambler 850-1000? They all seem really good which makes it difficult to decide. Which has the best, plush suspension that won’t bottom out easily?
Unless you are stuck on having that 1000cc sticker on your quad oh, if you could find a deal on an 850 it is more ATV than most people can use. Either brand.
I bought my 2019 Sportsman 1000 XP Hunter Edition back in April and absolutely LOVE it! Power is unreal and it rides like a Cadillac. This one is replacing my 2006 Sportsman 500 HO Browning Edition which was as reliable as they come. Hoping to get the same reliability from the 1000, but this one puts a huge smile on my face every time I ride it which my 500 couldn't do!
Thanks for staying un-Bias, in your opinion are Polaris cvt as trouble some as most people say? Polaris says they have the best cvt in the industry but so does Yamaha?
In our opinion, no. We have put a lot of miles on some Polaris side by sides and test rider Chad Westcott has a sportsman 1000 that has 1800 miles on it with the original belt. We believe that many of the problems people Report with Polaris CVT transmissions are because number one, they don't shift it into low range when they are riding at low speeds for prolonged periods of time. Number two, lots of people add bigger heavier Wheels because they look cool, never recalibrate their clutch to work with those larger heavier Tire Service, then complain that Polaris CVTs are junk. We would have to say that there's less chance of cooking you belt in a Yamaha because it has a centrifugal clutch. This allows the belt to stay under constant tension without slipping. The drawback to yamaha's CVT is that it is not as tunable as the Polaris. You can really make a Polaris CVT crack hard off the bottom. With a Yamaha, the centrifugal clutch makes that difficult.
Give us a couple more weeks and we will have a shootout for you between the Outlander xtp and the Sportsman 1000. It will probably answer a lot of your questions.
Are the drivetrain upgrades and changes applied to the 2019 850s as well? Just ordered an 850 premium and was told the only mechanical difference is basically the motor and the drive modes on the 1000 vs the 850
If we did not mention hitch size we certainly should have. We prefer two inch hitch receivers. I am pretty sure we mentioned it in our shootout against the Outlander 1000. We get a number of requests for people wanting fuel mileage information but it varies quite a bit depending upon the rider or the trail.Thought?
Was going to get a 2019 1000 sportsman but decided on a 2019 sportsman 570eps and 2019 sportsman 570 sp. figured more wheelers more fun dont have to double up and figured the 570s more reliable.
EveryThing Outdoors good choice fuel range is much better I started riding a 500 Honda 5 years ago I am the only one in our bunch who does not have to carry extra gas on extended rides over 80 miles it is nice
Awesome @everything outdoors! The 570s are great machines, and getting two so you can ride with someone will probably bring you way more enjoyment than getting one and having to ride alone more often. 👍
The 570 has been a great motor for me. Mine is a 2015 and other than fluids/filters/greasing it has only needed a battery. It has plenty of power. The only one time I have ever felt it needed more power was riding at 11,500' elevation but everything naturally aspirated lacks up there.
On your 19 outlander vid I brought up the CFMOTO cforce 800, I just got back from a ride and test, ran into one of these out on the trail and did some runs together. I wasn’t very far behind...that 65hp kept up with the 90hp Polaris pretty good thanks to good clutching. The sportsman would get me above 50 mph every time of course but 0-50 I was only 3 lengths behind by the time I clocked 50 on the 800. The big equalizer was traction, even 4wd on dirt/gravel the Polaris had a hard time hooking up, on paper it should be dominating but real world in loose type terrain in a drag race it really didn’t pull to hard on me. I’m sure 90hp is fun to do rolling burnouts but when traction is an issue at low speeds that power doesn’t matter if it can’t hook up. Not saying my 800 is better btw...
They certainly look like decent machines. Considering we work directly with every major manufacturer on the market we are a bit surprised that they have not asked us to review one of their machines yet. We certainly would like to. With speed being only one aspect, how do you think your machines suspension compares? Yours certainly sounds good.
ATVonDemand the spring rates are too stiff. In a shoot out with the Polaris the Polaris would win in suspension hands down. Vs the can am I’d give the can am a few points more but not by much. The CF is identical to the outlander suspension, the spring rate is what really hurts it, mostly in the back but it’s also a 2-up. The rear suspension does have one flaw with its geometry mixed with spring rate, if you hit a jump or ledge as the suspension compressed just before you get air the rear suspension unloads rapidly and pogo’s forward so you tend to land nose down which isn’t fun at all. It can be offset with rebound adjustment in the back but too much and it starts to ride too stiff. They run a multi rate spring, that seems to be most of the issue. I plan to switch to a single rate which should smooth it out a lot. The outlander rear spring rates are soft enough to avoid that feeling but with enough preload in the back on the base shocks you start to feel that action. Trailing arm problems... but overall I think it’s a good setup. If I had to pick CFMOTO vs Canam for full blown racing or competition I’d probably shy away from CFMOTO just for weight and factory suspension. But a little parts swapping and it’s a outlander with different badges really.
ATVonDemand I think part of why they haven’t asked is CFMOTO seems to be a company that doesn’t really push outward marketing like Polaris, can am, Yamaha etc. they seem to take a more laid back approach with marketing. There corporate ladder is kind of weird too, there hard to get ahold of directly. I think the best way to get in touch is threw a dealer, if they can give you a number or send a message threw there website and hope someone reads it. I think there more focused on dealerships currently then overall major marketing and reviewing. You would be there top reviewer if you could get ahold of them. Oh and the 400-500 ATV’s with non adjustable shocks, don’t expect much from them, but the upper end big bore types are good. Price to what you get is pretty great but there not super over engineered chassis and suspensions, they ride stiff but overall very solid. Chassis is very...very solid, brakes are pretty weird at first but really good over all. Drivelines are great as well very over built. There heavier in general but doesn’t really feel heavy. I hope to put up a owners review and go threw design and engineering soon, when I do I’ll message y’all so you can get some insight into it also
Love the video! Looking for a review on the sportsman 850 sp premium. The 850 premium seems to have everything the 1000 xp does excluding 12 horsepower and a 3rd brake light. The biggest question i have: is the suspension the same between the 2019 sportsman 850 and xp 1000? Looking for the smoothest ride without having to spend that extra coin. The xp 1000 looks buttery smooth in this video. I know the new xp 1000 s has upgrades to the suspension but wont fit on my trailer being 55 inches wide lol thanks!
Without us emailing Polaris product development team, we are pretty sure that the suspension between the 850 in the 1000 years virtually the same if not completely identical. Unless all you want to do is put on the biggest mud tires available, the 850 is more than fast enough for most humans. Every Polaris Sportsman we have ever reviewed has a very plush ride.
@@ATVonDemand Thank you very much for the swift reply! I own a 2017 570 sportsman and i feel the ride is a little rough for my liking. Thats why i ask.
Not taking anything away from the Sportsman. However, if you like the light, nimble, easy to jump, late-breaking ability of a lightweight 450cc sport ATV, this is simply not the same kind of machine. We went out and rode some sport quads over the weekend. They are completely different animals. Sport quads are like four wheeled dirt bikes. Leesburg 1000 4 by fours are almost like ride-on side by sides.
These are sport quads for the working adult .. the type who have mortgages, and work 60+ hrs a week, but aint ready to sit life out... just saying.. keep up the EXCELLENT work
We liked them better than the Duro tires. Test rider Chad Wescott Has GBC Dirt Commander tires on his XP 1000 that he likes a lot. We were also big fans of the ITP Terracross tires used on The Outlander 1000.
If this thang is better then my sportsman 500 that I had I wood recommend getting one. I have had my bike scents 2004 right out the crate and idk how much work and time I have into it but I tell you what I recommend getting this new sportsman they look nice
Well you will get the first two in abundance with the polaris. But you will likley have to put in some garage time. The power and comfort advantage was worth it to me though. Its really not even close with any of the Japanese competition. And im a big fan of the japanise bikes
Guys please review the rarest and possibly fastest atv ever made! It has a better power to weight ration then a quadzilla. It’s a husaberg enforcer 600. I’ve found 2 on these entire planet that are for sale. Maybe there are some in your area?
My only thing with Polaris is their shifter. I don’t like that it’s right at the knee. I prefer the can-am’s(other makes do it too) fender mounted gate shifter
@@shadowdestined2992 the Can Am has to be moved laterally as well as up and down to change gears. The Polaris requires you to just push or pull the lever from reverse to forward making shifts faster.
It's coming, we promised. We're probably about three weeks out still. Trade shows, helping get the news going, a bunch of stuff going on in side by sides. Thanks for checking in and for your patience.
Hello i have a predator 500 and i want something i can use for work and play but i dont want to lose the race atv power and speed is this a good atv or should i be looking at something else
I race xc on a 700 Raptor...I’m leaning towards a scrambler or Renegade and adding racks . Polaris Models definitely have some issues… But most of them on the market these days are not 100% perfect….but you can definitely have a ton of fun on the trails with them they just lean towards the working style ATV more… The scrambler or renegade models are definitely more for sportier minded
Just watching back on some of these videos. I’m just curious. Why do you guys use so much riding gear? I usually just where my normal clothes with a helmet. Or is it for “safety” reasons 😂
Our writers tend to push the limits pretty far so we feel the extra bit of safety is good. Plus it's cool to color coordinate with the machines. Most of our Riders are current or former Racers so they're used to wearing riding gear.
Picked the 19 XP premium 1000 up a month ago. Rides like a dream but I just hope it holds up at least decently. For the price there’s no excuse for some of the quality lackings I already see. For the love of ATVs use compressed sealed bushings ! Lol good gosh . I have a 12 brute as well and there’s obvious quality differences. For what the outlander or xp 1ks cost there’s simply no excuse to not be engineered to max quality ........unless oh wait they want to make money off parts lol.
Joe Kearney here is something that’ll not help, Polaris gear engagement in the differentials is purposely set too loose causing the pinion to skip on the ring gear. Commonly called ratcheting, if you ever have to rebuild the diff you can shim it back properly in the center of the ring tooth but the idea is to strip the differential to sell another after the warranty is up. I had one that trashed the diff at 300 miles, hardly used 4wd so it never had a real load on it. Totally unacceptable, and the warranty....doesn’t mean anything. They deny all claims for mechanical failures do to purposeful design flaws, corporate Polaris just says it’s “owner abuse” regardless if it’s a day old or not. After about 2010 model years during a corporate change over the new CEO decided to turn the company into a rip off type business. I ended up rebuilding and reshimming both differentials to remove the flaw which fixed the issue. If you hear the clicking or ratchet sound you better pull the drain plug and check for metal chunks. Mine never made the noise and yet still stripped a ring tooth because the ring gear was so far away from the pinion. Polaris poor engineering will bite you, pay very close attention to everything and hope you got one of the 20% that are actually decent
Tittle Diesel Performance LLC Dear lord I’m sick to my stomach now . Wish the Japanese would build a 1000 so bad . Makes me mad. I bought the 4 year extended warranty and if they declined it I’ll raise the roof on that dealership . 13 thousand dollar four wheeler and then try to take advantage of people .
Joe Kearney yup that’s marketing. And legally they can do it because it creates money and tax revenue. It’s a fucked up world for sure... I ended up with a CFMOTO Cforce 800, if you go to look at SXS or ATV’s in the future and come across them give it a look. There is a few changes that can be made like springs and tires but there very well engineered machines, they stand behind there product and reliability wise there on par with Japanese OEM’s. It’s a china brand but not your typical Chinese product. I hope your Polaris works well for you though, I’ve seen some units that end up being extremely reliable and well mannered but most of them have failures do to purposeful engineering flaws. Take care of it the best you can. Weak links in the sportsman’s are the factory battery, front differential pinion bearing (may have been fixed on the 18-20 years I’m not 100% on that) axle shafts are pretty weak but that’s intentional to keep the differentials and transmission alive, and in some cases they are known to have electrical bugs primarily with the power steering unit. Suggestion, don’t lift it, don’t put larger then like a 28” tire on and if you find yourself taking flight make sure to let off the throttle for the landing. That’s the number one killer of drivelines, coming down on throttle delivers a massive driveline shock load, that’s where differentials and such have there most damage. Get a few fluid changes in and take care of it, you maybe the lucky guy. Good luck man
Why did the sportsman lose 1 hp. My 2017 has 91 from the factory. What changes did they make and why. Are they anticipating a newer model that will make 100hp and needed the full 10hp to justify the need for paying that much more for one ?
You want fun? Put a turbo hybusa engine on a banshee with a stretched rear swing arm and some sticky tires. You’ll piss yourself laughing if your still alive afterwards...

Can anyone who's owned one of these tell me about the reliability of these machines and if they're worth the purchase. I've been a honda guy all my life when it comes to utility quads and I currently have a foreman rubicon 520 and i love it but im thinking about investing in a big bore atv so i can have more speed and power and use it as my recreational quad, and i'm gonna keep my rubicon and use it more as my work quad...however i hear that polaris quads aren't very reliable at all so it has me skeptical. I don't expect it to be ultimately as reliable as honda but fixing a little issue here and there won't really bother me if thats the case but i hear some say that they aren't even comparably reliable and they have countless issues, but most of those who tell me that also do a lot of hardcore mudding which i don't plan to be doing
I’ve owned my 2019 sportsman 1000 premium since October of 19. I have 1900 miles on it now and do trail riding and mostly sand dune riding. I’ve had zero issues with it. I’ve replaced the belt 2 times but much past that it still runs as the first day I got it. Great fun all around bike.
Thank you for the swift reply. May I ask in terms of overall quality what the ATV on Demand team to be the better model? I am purchasing one this week which is why I am asking lol
No, it was deleted because of our mistake in the voiceover. When you record each sentence about 15 times you start saying it from memory. Sometimes you say something wrong. Thank you so much for the heads up. We were trying to figure out how to make you a moderator so you could watch the videos early.
ATVonDemand hey just so you guys know your always welcome to come out to our place for a rip! We live in Minnesota the home of polaris! So if you guys wanna get polaris to lend a couple machines lol we’re up for the ride!
basically it restricts the people in the sport. Those who can't afford the new models with all of their electronic addons and highly breakable new features won't be in the sport, limiting the people who stand up for the sport and pay for the parks, etc.
You can spend $1000000 on a sports car. Does that stop people from buying $25,000 cars? You can easily spend $5000000 on a house. Does that stop people from buying $150,000 houses? There are many great ATV on the market for around half the price of this machine but delivered 95% of the fun unless your idea of fun is seeing who can go the fastest and a flat straight line. In that case, we would recommend buying a used Banshee. As long as manufacturers like Polaris continue to make more affordable machines at reasonable prices there is nothing they can do about people who would rather pout about not being able to afford a $13,000 ATV then go buy something they can afford and have fun. If you would like some recommendations for some fun affordable models please let us know.
@@ATVonDemand I think you're looking at the evolution of the sport- it's about ending the joy to the masses and giving it only to the rich. Like sport boating, the costs are out of reason and each sport will only belong to those with the means. That's not only shallow, it's defeating. And, yes, if there are no longer $150k houses to buy, it's stops them from buying those houses.
@@ATVonDemand Polaris and the other companies know this, and i also don't like cheap Chinese atv's flooding into the market to take the place of the better brands.
Allen Knowles. He Road on our Scrambler 1000 project test that Teixeira Tech built. He is in quite a few of our side by side videos over on the UTV Channel. Alan owns CT racing engines and is a former pro ATV racer. That "old dude" can steel Hammer pretty hard on an ATV..
We see what you're getting at but if we could ride a machine as hard as we do in our tests for 5 years before we were left stranded that would be pretty impressive.
Joshua Long ever since I got familiar with Polaris’s from early 2000, they have been nothing but a electrical problems all the time. My brother even bought a 1100cc Indian bike same fuckin problems. Starter, alternator and to small of a battery.
That may have been true in the past. As far as my experiance with our 2008 400 HO a 2016 570 and 2019 touring 570 they have all been flawless minus belt maintenance. Which is not exclusive to Polaris, rather a known problem with cvt's. As far as plastics go, I would suggest you measure the thickness of the fenders on a foreman or Can Am outlander and Sportsman 570, the polaris is easily 1.5x thicker plastic if not more.
If your not buying a highlighter Polaris 1000 your wasting your money and time I know countless people who have purchased this piece of shit this year and have returned for a highlighter or a honda ...this machine will stay in the shop until your mechanics let u know there isn't a fix for the wireing harness and the battery constantly draining also the fuel system pump goes out at a awful rate and these axles are weak as fuck the cv joints are brittle as crap. Don't believe me fine purchase it and u will learn the hard way .and it's not worth the money your going to spend on it.
A couple things to unpack here. First, are we talkin like a highlighter pen not sure why you're trying to compare an ATV to a neon green magic marker but those are pretty reliable. If you're talking about the Sportsman highlifter Edition, what makes it so much better? It's still manufactured by Polaris. If we were going to do normal trail riding a vast majority of the time, we would not want a mud machine. Also, this is RUclips, please keep the comments PG. Have you owned a sportsman 1000? How do you know they have this many problems? We're not saying you don't know what you're talkin about just trying to get more backstory.
I wish you guys would stop the images of high speed trail riding and jumping over dunes and such. First, it promotes dangerous driving. Second, most people do not drive their $10 000 machines that way. And Third, owners who follow your example are going to be handed a nasty bill after putting their new ATV into the dealer for repairs.
@@ATVonDemand First of all, "driving fast" is not the same as jumping dunes and flying around blind turns. Have you never heard of people getting seriously injured or even killed in head on collisions around blind turns? Your video promotes that irresponsible behaviour. But to answer your question, I need a powerful machine that can rock climb difficult trails, carry heavy loads, and tow small trailers. I have NO interest in killing myself, or anybody else on the trail. You need to show some responsibility.

Whats your thoughts looking between a 2019 can am renegade xxc 1000 or sportsman 1000 2019. Thoughts?
Give us a couple more weeks and we will have a shootout for you between the Outlander xtp and the Sportsman 1000. It will probably answer a lot of your questions.
Are the drivetrain upgrades and changes applied to the 2019 850s as well? Just ordered an 850 premium and was told the only mechanical difference is basically the motor and the drive modes on the 1000 vs the 850
We will reach out to Polaris and see if we can get an answer.
ATVonDemand thanks!
you guys did not mention the hitch , as it is smaller than others , or the fuel economy (long trips) ,
If we did not mention hitch size we certainly should have.
The 570 is a great machine for a starter or a woman.
Its for 1 person only right? That is what im wondering
Yes but they also make a 2 seat version.
Oh,thank you partner
I like the newer styling except the front box is barely usable compared to my 550xp.
The front storage box on a 1000 is useful unless you have the front rack loaded down. The XP 550 was a great machine. It's all most riders need.
It's more than I need.
I hope to put up a owners review and go threw design and engineering soon, when I do I’ll message y’all so you can get some insight into it also
Where is that facility you guys ride and test at? that is a really diverse riding area, is alot of that man made?
1000 XP SPORTSMAN.....
R.I.P. 450 Sport Quad Segment!!!!!
These are sport quads for the working adult .. the type who have mortgages, and work 60+ hrs a week, but aint ready to sit life out... just saying.. keep up the EXCELLENT work
Sportman xp 1000 IS the best performance quad
Beck Hebron The power is insane, I almost lost it at 50 mph when I hit the gas it when spinning side ways.
I need new tires for my Sportsman XP 1000 I coming back to the Maxxis Vipr and you said they are a better tire.

About time
Hope it was worth the wait.
I've heard a lot of bad things about Polaris and have been told to go with the grizzly! What is y'all's input??
What three things do you want most from a 4x4 ATV?
Speed, comfort and durability!!
Well you will get the first two in abundance with the polaris. But you will likley have to put in some garage time. The power and comfort advantage was worth it to me though. Its really not even close with any of the Japanese competition. And im a big fan of the japanise bikes
So you recommend Polaris
100%
Guys please review the rarest and possibly fastest atv ever made! It has a better power to weight ration then a quadzilla. It’s a husaberg enforcer 600. I’ve found 2 on these entire planet that are for sale. Maybe there are some in your area?
My only thing with Polaris is their shifter. I don’t like that it’s right at the knee. I prefer the can-am’s(other makes do it too) fender mounted gate shifter
That's understandable.
If you plow snow, the sportsman is easier to use.
KriegerKrieg, what makes it easier? Got me curious
@@shadowdestined2992 the Can Am has to be moved laterally as well as up and down to change gears. The Polaris requires you to just push or pull the lever from reverse to forward making shifts faster.
KriegerKrieg, I can see your point there. Lots of reversing for sure when plowing. Good point!
What happened to the 1000cc Shootout ? Been anxiously waiting for it ? About to make a big purchase here coming up.

Polaris Models definitely have some issues… But most of them on the market these days are not 100% perfect….but you can definitely have a ton of fun on the trails with them they just lean towards the working style ATV more… The scrambler or renegade models are definitely more for sportier minded
Got one last week...love it
Just watching back on some of these videos.
ATVonDemand ok I gotchu. It makes sense. You guys need a real world rider. Cough cough me maybe. 😂😂
What became of the shootout?

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Tittle Diesel Performance LLC
Dear lord I’m sick to my stomach now .
Good luck man
I like the can ams but this machine I’m thinking I’m liking better now 🤔
Why did the sportsman lose 1 hp. My 2017 has 91 from the factory. What changes did they make and why. Are they anticipating a newer model that will make 100hp and needed the full 10hp to justify the need for paying that much more for one ?
It makes sense that they would widen the sportsman and scrambler to handle. 100 hp
Superman01811 it only has to do with the muffler, that’s the only difference
Hardly see anyone come out with an S model and not follow up with an R model

No it is just a publication reviewing a machine. I guess this is the price you pay for trying to look professional.
Polaris uses cheap metal and plastics on their atvs. Not reliable
As far as plastics go, I would suggest you measure the thickness of the fenders on a foreman or Can Am outlander and Sportsman 570, the polaris is easily 1.5x thicker plastic if not more.
...ride modes- same BS like on modern motorcycles...strong nice atv btw.

@@ATVonDemand First of all, "driving fast" is not the same as jumping dunes and flying around blind turns. Have you never heard of people getting seriously injured or even killed in head on collisions around blind turns? Your video promotes that irresponsible behaviour. But to answer your question, I need a powerful machine that can rock climb difficult trails, carry heavy loads, and tow small trailers.
