    I love Akis. This classic casserole, with beef, was amazing . This traditional handed down recipe , and its enticing aromas, is just as the yayas (grandmothers) make back home in Greece where I lived with my children for some years. Best with wine, crust bread and a table surrounded by those of all ages your heart loves!

    Once again - a wonderfully tasty meal. In England Steak & Kidney is very popular so I slightly adapted the recipe by adding three cored, chopped and floured lamb's kidneys to the beef. I also added a teaspoon of honey before covering with lid. Served it with Greek Yogurt. Delicious. Thanks Akis.

My mom made this all the time but without a standard recipe its hard to duplicate she eyeballed everything and she did not use the herbs like thyme and rosemary, so thank you for this recipe it was super easy to follow and turned out amazing! I also made your basmati rice it was perfect! Bravo!

    • @akispetretzikisen
      @akispetretzikisen  6 лет назад

      no it will not be tough at all.. you sear the meat to give it a bit of extra flavour, so you can easily do that in the slow cooker

Would you mind if I ask you chef. Why are you using beef cubes in some of your recipe. I thought greek food is more salt and pepper for taste. Plss respond my msg. Thank you!..

      Red wine vinegar has only traces of alcohol in it. You need some acidity so maybe lemon or grape juice could work. I`ve never tried it, though.

    • @Hoiafar
      @Hoiafar 6 лет назад +4

      There is no perfect substitute. All the alcohol will evaporate over 2 hours of cooking time. But if you still don't like the idea what I personally use to substitute it is a mix of 2 parts water to 1 parts chicken stock and 1 parts balsamic vinegar.
