Great piece of English history. Easy to start, tickle carb, ease over compression, and give a long all weight kick with slight throttle, piece of cake, done it a million times.

i fitted a flat slide carb on a british single it ran brilliantly very good throttle response just saying the world moves on

The velo engine is a nice choice for a featherbed special, the goldstar dbd34 would be great too.

ro eng : I don't think you can get the Gold Star engine in between the lower frame rails, if you look at a BSA even they have an awful crushed tube for the oil pump.

My old Velo (MOV) would have fired up first prod and I'd have been three miles down the road before you set up the choke.

If this is set up as a racer [it’s NOT a cafe racer] it’s going to be harder to start than a plodding MOV.

Oldpigsass It has a magneto to generate the spark mechanically. Doesn’t need a battery.

@@adrianprowse7968 Thank you. Much like a petrol lawnmower? However it does have a 6v battery to power the headlamp. But without the headlamp switch turned on, the brake light works, so I guess that must be routed through the 6v circuit to provide a non-flickering light.

Oldpigsass You are welcome. Is there an additional video of this bike in action? I can’t see a headlamp: I think it’s set up as a racer. But then again, a racer would take off the kickstarter to save weight. I’ve got a 1960 Venom. Beautiful bike.
