It's worked out incredibly well for me! It's been a little over a year, and it's still the most useful setup for the way I use my passport. Thank you so much for watching!
Have had the crazy horse one, however; I started to simply use mine as my main journal cover and set my beloved TN aside… The passport wallet insert is an amazing piece…
I bought an undyed leather travelers notebook because i was having trouble finding the color I wanted. I intentionallly took mine outside in sun, timed about 20 min each side at a time (cant remember how many sessions, maybe 2), then put some natural leather conditioner on it and became a beautiful light to medium tan. It will still patina more overtime, but i wanted it to be more even overall and didnt want to wait.
Wondering if you could punch holes (with leather tool or have shoe repair guy do it) in center of Galen Leather & use that as your cover, with your 2 inserts. Especially since you only have 2 inserts, it seems doable. Slimmer than having “double leather cover.” & you can enjoy the beautiful natural leather cover even more on outside. It would also allow for more exposure to sunlight for developing patina.
I am so sorry I didn't see this comment! If you wanted to just use the wallet insert as a cover, I'm sure you could. It would not be hard to put in punches, though unless you add grommets, you might need to worry about fraying on the inside from the lining. That method would not work best for my needs, though. I wanted a wallet-style insert that included a sturdy pen holder I could trust would hold fountain pens, and this definitely does that. Plus, it does patina, just at a slightly slower rate. The outer cover also protects it from scratches. While the Traveler's Company leather does look quite nice a little scuffed up, I don't really like scratches on Galen Leather's undyed goods. Thanks so much for watching!
It's starting to get some lovely patina on all the exposed bits (the overhang and zipper, in particular), and I'm getting some nice color in other spots where I regularly handle it. Thanks so much for watching and subscribing!
Great video! I have had my eye on one of the wallet inserts for a while but am worried about the overhang because sometimes that annoys me. I am curious what you think after having it a few weeks. Also I do love a chunky notebook!
It definitely has more overhang that I thought it would, but it's actually really growing on me. I like the high contrast between the dark brown cover and the nude wallet - it almost looks intentional. 😉 I am curious as to how I'll feel in a few month once the edges have patinaed a little.
It would be cool to put the elastics on the wallet to transform it into the cover so it necomes less chunky. The wallet would need to be a bit bigger so you can cover the insert but i think it would be the better compromise between practicity and bulkyness

I’m so glad I found your video!!! This is the exact set up I’ve been toying with, with the Galen Wallet AND the 1.61 folder! ❤❤❤

i have this same insert and it does get more relaxed over time and it will be a little less chonky which is nice
I'm a month in and still loving it, but it's definitely a relief to know it will "de-chunk" over time. :) Thank you for watching!!

I've been thinking of doing this when I want to use a smaller purse! Glad to know it works well. Thanks so much for watching.

Just found your channel and have subscribed. Would love an update on the patina of this insert.

@@snarkywordsworth I love the way the contrast looks in your setup! I look forward to seeing how it ages and I hope you love it!
