I really loved his set up bc (1) mine is very similar and (2) the beauty of a bullet journal or any diary/journal is to make it work for you. The best journal is the one you will use. This is the first video i have watched on this channel and i really liked it.

You're a lovely couple and your videos are very approachable. Also your sticker designs are so charming and have a nice hand-painted look. There is a trend in AI generated planner sticker designs now which is oversaturating the market, and yours are a nice refreshing improvement we all needed from that style. :) Love the look of hand done watercolors and pressed flowers! You two are super cute! Loved this video. I never think to zoom into people's journals on I.G. and although I'm not offended when people do, I'm always a bit surprised! Especially because I write in cursive, and it must take some effort to read my personal thoughts. But it's the internet and I'm choosing to share my pages 😅 so I've decided to be ok with it!

This was such a cute video! I love how you both have your own way of documenting things that are important to each of you in your own unique way. I love how the your husband documents his workout routines. I’ve been wanting to get my husband a journal so he can use it however he wants.
Sarica, your spread in that mini journal/planner is so beautiful. I think I want to set mine up that way. I feel like that style would work for me. I’ve tried so many planners and I keep giving up throughout the year. I think I would love an undated one and use it whenever I feel like writing. I don’t want to feel pressured to add things to a planner just because they’re dated. I think this might be the key to success for me. I will try this when I order your beautiful inserts. First video I’ve seen from you - this was great! Been paper planning and journaling in my TN for a few months now, and it’s great to hear about it from your perspectives as parents and partners. Planning for a whole family is harder but is so necessary! Thanks for sharing

I love your “confessions” - not using a future log or index, that is, not following Ryder’s bullet journal system to the “T”. I’ve tried that and I would get so frustrated; it became another to-do.
Right now, I’m using Google Tasks for to-do. It helps with future planning and keeping a running tasks. My analog is most for daily records of what happened during the day. I got this idea from a friend who is a nurse, who kept a work log of what happened during her shift. It’s a great idea to look back and to see what I had accomplished.

I love how supportive and non judgmental you are, Sarica. You make suggestions, but don't put any expectations or pressure on Sam. You both do what works for you separately, but keep each other, and the big picture, in mind.
I think there's so much gatekeeping around certain aspects of planning. Bullet journaling, for example. Does it matter that you don't follow every single "rule" to the letter? Why CAN'T it be used as a guide to find your own style? And take from it what ideas you like and need? I'm with Sarica: it HAS to work for you. It has to be sustainable. If neither, it's not useful. Which is the ultimate goal of planning, after all.
And Sam, if you like the monthly calendar overview, Sarica, can you make blank calendar stickers? 👀 Or do you already have printable monthly inserts that Sam could glue or tip in?
Sam, I love how your notebook has become almost a commonplace journal. That's sort of how I use mine! Anything and everything goes in there. I also have a junk journal magpie heart, so you'll find every day life ephemera in mine. Memories, without the pressure to write to document.

We've talked about making calendar stickers before (great suggestion) or maybe using a calendar stamp. It's definitely worth revisiting those ideas.
I can be sentimental, and I can see the appeal of using everyday life ephemera in your journal. I may give it a try!

Thanks for sharing Sam! Would have liked to hear Your opinion about writing with fountain pen vs...other kinds of pens. Also, Your take on just keeping the inserts simple and without all the decor keeps it more likely to continue using and doesn't create burnout. If they are complicated or too much to 'setup', we are less likely to use them.
Great suggestion about the pens; I may save those thoughts for a future video. I do like keeping my journals pretty simple for now, but I can see the appeal of decorating more. I'm still pretty new to journaling, so my notebooks may evolve down the road. We'll see!

I'm linear with my notebook, I only write forward and create monthly or other collections as needed.
Tahank you for sharing. I'm curios: will you keep your jouranal to look back on or burn it-toss it when you're done? Some people are on one or the other camp. I keep mine.
What a great question! I’ve burned/tossed all of my journals before 2016 and it was a cathartic experience for me. I’m sure I’ll keep most of my journals from 2019-present. Thanks for watching!
