  • How to use the fingers in table tennis? Where to apply force during the rallies? These are the common question. However, these are the advanced techniques in table tennis. Not many coaches explain this aspect to the player.
Today I will show how Ma Long and Zhang Jike use the fingers to improve the power and the consistency of their shots.

thank you for sharing this.i was always use to just driving the ball back with my backhand and it doesnt have enough power, nor did i have the power to loop backspin. but my placing my thumb like ma long. i have been able to do backhand openers against backspin consistently which has is amazing because the receiver is force to block and i finish with the forehand.

Hi ERT, I have a question about this video, i bought a book in which ilustrates the correct way to grip the raquet. The book says that in China the beguiner players learn to hold the raquet in 2 diferents ways (1 for defensive shots, and 1 for offensive shots)
And that is dominated for players since they start to play this sport, and here in LatinAmerica this is learned until you are an experimented player like you say an advanced skill

  • @racsosuil

Hi, coach ERT. I read a book in which says that in China little Kids in their begining period learn two different ways to grip the racket (offensive and defense grip)
Do you have any documents or books in which talks about this?

Why do most players (Ma Long, Wang Liqin and FZD) stop their wrists abruptly and upward upon finishing their backhand stroke? I notice players like Kenta Matsudaira follow through on their backhand swings and keep the paddle angled downward instead.

    • @mayankgupta2543

I think there are two ways to do backhand topspin.
One where you start with open racket and come over the ball and follow through with a closed racket.
The other way is you start with a closed racket contact the top of the ball and finish it with open racket by using wrist to give a jerk. This results in generating more speed as you slap the ball in the end
