Hannah Reitsch... the first pilot to fly a helicopter indoors... and it was with this exact helicopter. Of course, the full size one, lol. Throughout the late 1930s she gave many flight demonstrations of this in Berlin.
Really, I don't know what it is about this chopper that I like so much but I just love the hell out it! I'm a big fan of the Bell 407 and I never seemed to be very impressed by those "jolly greens" yet, this FA-223 is just blowing me away. I don't understand what happened in the video and why they had to stop flying it but I guess it was because something broke off? Too bad... The workmanship in this aircraft is EXPERT! No doubt about it, the builder new what he was doing. And the design, well who else but the Germans could get out to this point? I've never heard of an FA 223 Dragon and have no idea when it was first released but obviously WW II was still going on when they built this aircraft but never got the chance to use it. Great machine! I hope you make another video and show it flying. Rich
It’s not a coaxial machine. It’s known as “side by side”. Coaxial is when one rotor is above the other, as in Kamov 26. Otherwise a great video. Very stable flight.
Beautiful craftsmanship, incredible work I can only imagine the time and patience it took took make the parts Should be very proud of the accomplishment.Just beautiful
Excellent flying and beautifully controlled emergency landing! I'm so glad the propellers did not desync and hit each other. I'm excited to see this fly again!
Wow. Amazing machine- what a fantastic job of engineering. And top notch piloting. The save was fortunate, indeed. That's what test flights are all about, eh?
I thought something didn't look right about that landing. Something did break. Very very nice model, good job it looks terrific! No matter what the gathering is, there's always this one guy... this one guy that has to make everything else look like a child did it. This is that guy.
No that is not what it means... get an actual definition before posting something stupid... co·ax·i·al (kō-ăk′sē-əl) adj. Having or mounted on a common axis.
@@TalkingGIJoe that's exactly what he said. The axle is the axis of rotation. Axis - Axle They even share the same root word. You've got to be kidding. LMFAO.
I think you may want to exaggerate the spacing for the hor-stab as it looks like the larger one would have a bigger gap and be just out of the wash where this one looks like it is inside the wash and is getting a sympathetic vibration. Amazing flying machine. It takes the danger feeling of one heli and doubles the danger lol

I must say, I'm not a fan of 'copters' as RC units, but I loved this one. Kind of an "Inspector Gadget" creation. What wonderful mechanical ability to put this machine together.....Cheers!
A lovely model, fantastic engineering and many hours of hard work went into that.
Very nice. Thanks. These German guys build some very cool stuff.
What a beautiful piece of engineering of a piece of rotary wing history.
this to me was more fun than most chopper videos.. work of art ..well done
Beautiful build. Absolutely amazing flight control. Very realistic flying.

Nice flight, and a good recovery from the mechanical problems that brought her down.
Well done :) .

@@fauxbro1983 actually it's true tho
what a douche

beeindruckendes modell, endlich mal was mit innovation!
Impressive model! Kudos to the modeler that made it!
Excellent camera work. Thanks for carefully showing us the details of the design and construction.
5:17 - love the airliner in the background apparently sliding along the power cables!
Really nice! Got to love the cigarette assembly style fron old times! Classy!
Beautiful workmanship and great control.

The first truly practical utility helicopter. Loved the design.
WOW, well done to all in this project. Truly amazing.
FOCKE = GOOD STUFF the beginning he had a passion for chopper inventing
Great pilot, saved this wonderful machine in time!
Excellent flying and beautifully controlled emergency landing! I'm so glad the propellers did not desync and hit each other. I'm excited to see this fly again!
rotor arcs don't intercept. scary thought but the original could decouple the rotor heads from the drive line

More proof of excellent German engineering and machinists at work and play. Thanks for posting.
Truly amazed by the detail. Well done, sir.
That is about the coolest build I've ever seen.
Awesome!
Awesome model! Great flight. Would love to see more of this bird.
A remarkable model of a remarkable machine, very good to see.
Great Model and perfect reaction of the pilot
I find it crazy this was actually the tech from ww2!

@@omnianti0 No, the first flight was 3 August 1940.

Very cool. Most don't know during WWII Germany was building and flying helicopters in combat roles by late 1942.
Nice ,and jet powered,👏👏👏👏👍👍👍
No one can imagine how HARD it would be to fly that!

nice save
Congratulatíons, excelent model the assembly of one this is only for smart guys.
This was a great helicopter to model! You did a GREAT job!
Man these germans are good at building things......I've seen such hobbyists in germany
Excellent spectacular Saludos desde Buenos Aires 😎👍👍
Amazing engineering, great model....WAY TO GO!!!!
This is beautiful! But no, it's not coaxial, that literally means "on the same axle", which this isn't.

Hört sich kraftvoll an. Sehr gut, das mag ich
Fantastic project …………. modelling excellence. Good idea to keep the test flight at a low hover. Lots of moving parts in that beauty.
super

Perfect model, flown perfectly. Not surprised to hear German in the background. :o)
Tolles Modell. Nicht dieser Einheitsbrei, den man sonst so sieht. Und sehr schön vorgeflogen.
Dedicated flyer right there! 😊

I like that.. Inspector Gadget.
Very lucky landing with the asymmetric thrust.
The grub screw, yes, an illusive creature...:P Thats a fantastic flying machine sir, very finely done!
im not a heli guy ,but that was awesome!
I dont care what they call its very cool. Very brave building something like that. 👍
Now how cool is THAT? Awesome build.
Respect the amount of work that guy have put on that machine
Awesome model.....no. Awesome piece of art.
Great catch. I saw the part fall and thought is was gone. Beautiful machine.
Amazing model. Amazin builder in the first place. Seems just about anything can be built and flown.
Incredible workmanship.....thanks for the vid
Amazing, that pilot did well to get it down in one piece after the left driveshaft quit!
This project is really awesome.
Nice rc model, hopefully soon with a pilot doll
Looks good, good looking model. It amazes me they had choppers way back when....
Fantastic model. Very impressed!
Lovely helicopter. And so lucky that the shaft component fell off as the helicopter was just a metre off the ground.
Outstandingly engineered.
That is some awesome greenhouse you got there... excellent work Sir!
Very very lucky at the end.

No love shown for the test pilot who brought her back down safely when one of the prop drives gave way? No one noticed?

The ones that are afraid of heights so far 139
Envy of not having creativity and half the craftmanship of the man who created this wonderful model aircraft.
