- This song is heaven for the ears but hell for the fingers. Purple Onion is sort of an odd album, but contains some of Claypool's coolest (and hardest) tunes.
Artist: Les Claypool Frog Brigade
Album: Purple Onion
Song: Up On the Roof
Year: 2002
Gear used:
- Custom-made 4-string bass (not a Carl Thompson, but made to look like one)
- Line-6 Pod 2.0 (lined in directly to my PC)
Tuning: EADG

I was so impressed with your general accuracy that I scrunched my face in disbelief when I saw you creeping up the frets instead of bending the string at 2:40 hahaha
That humorous nitpick aside, this is a _solid_ cover of one of Les Claypool's most goodest (possibly bestest) grooves. Thanks for sharing it!
Beauty of a bass and what an accurate cover!
Dude, u freaking nailed it! So good, really.
good job men, what a great cover!
Strong job there man! What a song :D
Wow, perfect!

Us mere mortals need you to cover primed by 29 for us too 🤘🏻🤘🏻
This was a great Christmas gift.
Can you make a tutorial please? Thank you.
Beautiful

Thank you for this 🙏🏼
Excellent!!!
rad
how did you make this bass?
Very cool cover. What bass is this?
+Drzejzi It's a custom-made bass I got from a collector a few years ago.
+Shinsen88 Music Cool, thanks for answer :)
What pickup is in there? Nice playing btw
Figured it out now, it's a Guild bi-sonic pickup.
Drzejzi I would say maybe a carl Thompson
Where'd you get the bass?
Bought this one from a collector on eBay years ago. I don't remember for sure if he's the one who built it, or if he just ended up with it.
How do you like the pod? I'm considering getting rid of my amps and just using my computer
It's good for what it is if you can find one at a good price. You will be able to get a good range of sounds for guitar, but I always struggled to dial in a good bass sound with the Pod. I actually ended up selling mine to upgrade to a Boss GT-100. If it were me, I would still keep an amp to play through, but the Pod may be worth checking out. Hope that helps!
@@Shinsen88Music have you tried any other interfaces/modelers like that?
I've been using the Boss GT-100 in the same capacity for the last several years. I love it, but it is quite a bit more expensive. I also know someone who uses a Zoom G3XN, which is pretty nice, includes an expression pedal, and has a lot more options than the Pod. I believe the Zoom is closer to the Pod price point, maybe a little bit more expensive.
Thats just amazing...!
