Do as you're told, don't eat the mold. The only unrealistic part of all this is a captain ever having more control over the engines than the engineers. lol
It makes sense that just a few people would have command control, BUT on a mission where "everyone before" went insane, that control would be like for nucs, two man. You would never leave it up to just one person to have critical control. Otherwise that's a nice twist though and one you can ignore.
After listening to the story, it doesn’t say she had control over the engines, it just says the captain locked everyone out. And that would probably be with the captains code which only she would know. So she didn’t DO anything requiring the engine or navigation, she literally just made sure NOBODY could use anything. That is the captains prerogative and within their ability lol though after the…5 years? they mentioned, SOMEBODY should have been able to hack through and remove the lockout.
@@widdershins5383 What is very realistic is that the person appointed, not chosen, because of her family's connections would be the first to fail. When you replace equality of opportunity with oligarchy this is predictable.
Mate that ain't breaking the universe, that's a dimensional hole cutting through realities where energy is fundamentally different. And possibly leading to somewhere outside of possible reality if those monsters are sneaking in.
Not going to lie, when I sleepily checked for my latest uploads this morning to listen to later, my sleep addled mind thought the title was "Avoid the Noid".

Well, the higer-ups expected few to none who who went to the void to come back, since such voyages have a high mortality rate. So being appointed as the captain of a voyage to the void is seen as getting rid of undesirables... or at least it should've been, yet the story says nothing about that.
Warranty VOID if reality seal is broken.
Excellent comment, lol!
Warranty void if 21 = 19 + 10

@@davidtrammel I suppose it's hard enough to find even one captain for mission, that is essentially suicidal.
Not unusual in a world where Discrimination, Exclusion and Intolerance is enforced.

Oops, said the human engineer.
