Yep, took me 4 months to watch Andor, just didn't believe people when they told me it was a masterclass, probably will be the same with Skeleton Crew if I don't forget about the show entirely until then lol
Yeah, I lost interest in any new Star Wars content a long time ago. It helps that my 2yo keeps much of my media consumption "budget" in the realm of shows like Bluey. What little time I have for mature entertainment is not getting spent on Star Wars.
this is unfortunate because there is stuff being made that is really good like Andor and Skeleton Crew. I really wish people would give those shows a chance instead of assuming all new star wars is bad. I take each show on its own merrits. If every show had the same creative team behind it, i could understand people being done watching any of it. But each series has its own writters and directors and creative take. That is why i give each series a shot and if i like it, i watch it again. If i don't, i won't watch it again. I tell people what is good in my opinion, but i won't dissuade people from watching anything star wars because each person has their own taste and appreciation for what they want to see. The fanbase has become increasingly toxic and divisive and that is sad to see.
@@trevorchristensen4743 I do understand your take here. Really. And I respect that. What I disagree on with you is the whole 'toxic' BS. I've been a Star Wars fan for over 40 years. Watched episode four with my father for the first time. I breathed Star Wars. Star Wars was running through my veins. I've read books, comics, watched the movies hundreds of times. Since Disney took over, they made one crucial mistake after the other. They disneyfied Star Wars. Star Wars died 2012 when the contract between Iger and Lucas was signed. They promised a coherent canon, they lied. They promised great entertainment, they lied. They promised the best Star Wars there ever was, they lied. The only 'toxic' ones are the people at Disney, ruining Star Wars. Andor is a series I couldn't be bothered to watch. I don't care for a backstabbing criminal who gets vaporised in a huge explosion. And the same can be said about Skeleton Crew. I just don't care for 'Goonies in Space', ranting about 'Old Republic Credits', ruining just another part of the real Star Wars. I am happy for you, that you can see the good things I cannot. That dosen't imply that I am 'toxic', I just can't enjoy what Disney is producing. The same counts for all fans that don't give Disney the benefit of the doubt anymore. Disney is really bad at Star Wars. That is a fact. And facts can't be 'toxic', they can only be true.
Disney didnt even put in half as much effort in marketing this show as they did for The Acolyte, royally fucked that show up, then silently drops this show on their streaming platform. Quite unfair to the people who just tried make a fun Star Wars adventure show for children to suffer the consequences.
At this point, they need to put out good content and let it speak for itself. It seems the stuff they promote is absolute ass and the stuff they don’t is better than everything else.
@@achaudhari101 Maybe they should have done something with the shows people were actually interested in watching. But they didn't and it looks like they have finally, completely destroyed interest in the brand
This right here! I wasn’t excited for the shows since ROS but I gave them a chance. Kenobi burned a bridge I’m no longer willing to pay for. If I’m visiting a friend who has D+, I might check out the shows people recommend. But I’m not paying for D+ ever again 🤷🏽♀️
I'm part of the 65%, and it just goes to show that a whipped dog stops caring. There's been so much bad star wars that I no longer care about even the allegedly 'good' star wars. Sorry, Disney, you made your bed, now sleep in it.
I get it, but once you hear people you trust say it's actually good, why not then start tuning in so Disney takes the lesson that good Star Wars equals viewers?
@@brendanberry6263 that used to be my attitude, but even that got exhausting since so many disney+ shows fall of a cliff despite having promising starts. so, the only way I'm giving *any* of their shows a chance now, is when the whole thing is out and consensus is *still* that it's good they've simply proven too many times that supporting their stuff week-to-week is simply not worth it
@@brendanberry6263because once you reach the point of not caring what so ever, why would you go back. I’m in the same boat. The acolyte broke me, I don’t want anything to do with Disney anymore, I’ll stick to the beloved eu/legends books
Darth Maul surviving was an extremely popular decision. The entire reason they did that was due to fan outrage that they wasted his potential as a villain by offing him too quickly. The people who were upset over his survival were vastly outnumbered by those who were excited with his return, and a lot of those who were initially upset, wound up letting it go due to how well they wrote his CW story. Lastly, Maul was trained by the Sith, and had the unnatural powers of the Dark Side to enable survival. It makes sense for a Sith or powerful Dark Side user to survive a serious injury; that's a big part of the perks of the Dark Side. The issue is all the OTHER characters who have survived lightsaber wounds easily. They never should of had Sabine take a lightsaber through the side; maybe a different, lesser injury. Same for several other scenes/ characters. But Maul's case is not an example of this.
@@gildor8866Cartoons have different rules and different audience expectations with regard to realism and violence than live action shows. Loony Tunes, anyone?
Audiences just might not know what they like until they have it? Or maybe what characters fans like, their stories are over. Yes anakin is a great character but do we need more stories about him? His story was already done so even tho fans might want an anakin disney + show, it might not be done well due to his story being over whereas Mando may have more stories to tell or skeleton crew
Just wait. Andor season 2 will be full of the same garbage that obi wan, ahsoka and the acolyte had. They didn't mess with it because they thought it would flop.
No matter how good it is, it still leads to the sequel trilogy, and therefore you lose a majority of your potential audience before disney even releases it.
Exactly this, I just cannot care about anything Star Wars post RotJ knowing it ultimately leads to Anakin's sacrifice being undone and Luke's 180 from the guy who risked death by Palps lightning to redeem his father to someone who tries to kill Kylo and give up on the force. This is unfixable unless you retcon it with the world between worlds, which I don't think Disney will ever use.
As someone who hasn’t watched it, let me offer my perspective: 1. I have no idea what this show is about. I know none of these characters, I’ve seen zero marketing material, I don’t even know what time period it’s set in. At least by the time The Acolyte came out I knew that it was set before Episode I and it had Force-Fu. 2. They’ve broken my trust too many times. I’ve made the mistake of watching almost every Disney Star Wars show, only to be disappointed every time. I don’t care if the fans say it’s good; I’ve heard that before. I won’t fall for it again.
I recommend the show. Watch the first episode, if it doesn't hook you then ok but it's worth a watch. It's fun, it's star wars without the agenda. It's a star wars show that isn't ashamed to be star wars.
Hey Thor: I heard one of the biggest criticisms against the prequels is how palpatine being the bad guy wasn't that surprising, that it was too obvious. I personally think that was the point, because when you think about it, the prequels really made no attempt to hide the fact that palpatine was the sith lord, in fact they were out right telling us he was. At qui gon's funeral, when yoda and mace were talking about the sith lord, the camera focuses on palpatine with the music changing to a slightly sinister tune. I think what George Lucas was going for was keeping us at the edge of our seats, just waiting to see exactly what palpatine was going to do to take over the galaxy, that we were waiting in dread. It was a ticking bomb effect, where Alfred Hitchcock described how if two people are sitting down at a table and a bomb blows up, it surprises you, but if you show the audience the bomb beforehand and the characters don't know about it, then it leaves you waiting in dread. I'm pretty sure that's what George Lucas was going for.
If you want to fully understand how little George cared for making things subtle in the prequels, just watch the Revenge of the Sith trailer. They gave away the plot of the entire movie with that trailer
The dislike for the prequels had nothing to do with Palpatine. It was the disconnect between the OT and prequels, the plot holes and "changes " to the lore like "chosen one" whixh just feels like it was pulled from nowhere and was no unnecessary.
What, you mean the character played by the same actor playing the unnamed Emperor in EP6 actually turns out to be the villain? I never could've seen that coming.
@@庫倫亞利克 unnamed? They named Palpatine in the novelization of the first Star Wars all the way back in 1976. Everyone knew the senator was the future emperor
It’s definitely getting “Solo’ed” … paying for the outing another show had, and suffering backlash of how people didn’t like that. But this is a delightful show … I have thoroughly enjoyed it!
@@GGBlaster Han had 6 novels covering his backstory already, so that was definitely a factor. Disney jettisoned the EU for stories that the EU already did but better. But the fembot was cringy, Maul showing up made no sense (I know they resurrected him in the cartoon but that was a bad idea then as well) and made the galaxy feel very small, and the whole Kessel run just didn't work for me. Casting for Lando was good, but I don't think the guy they had playing Han sold it at all. Whole film just seemed they were trying to squeeze in too much without really adding anything.
Disney shot itself in the foot viewershipwise by persuing narratives that had nothing to do with Star Wars. It will take shows like Skeleton crew to win that back. Like Andor it may take a while for fans to filter in.
It really is, angry fans can be won over, but Apathetic fans aren't watching anymore, they're not following either, so even if you do make something good, how are you going to get them to watch it?
Each episode, just before pressing play I feel ‘I don’t really feel like watching this’. Then I end up really enjoying it and glad I gave it my time, attention, and hope. Disney, you did well here.
Its not about weather this is a good show or not, its about the current leadership at Lucasfilm, nothing has changed there and we won't be coming back until they are gone and replaced with someone who cares about the fans.
I think an interesting poll for you to do would be what Star Wars project will get you to participate in Star Wars again? A lot of people will probably say anything that de-cannonizes the Disney Star Wars lore. For me it would be the Jedi survivor games. I acknowledge they aren't perfect. But dropping a one time fee on a game is more appealing for me than a subscription fee directly to Disney.
It's unfortunate that Disney has screwed up their Star Wars shows to a point where people aren't watching a very solid, enjoyable show. I really feel like the failure of the shows they have produced thus far is 100% on the people running the shows and very little of the issue is with the actors, crew, effects, etc. With better leadership, I feel like they could have easily had at least a good, if not great, stable of shows already under their belt just with those that have been released so far. Andor and Mando Season 1 show just how good things could have been, had they remained consistent with their leadership. Even Skeleton Crew now is showing signs of a well managed show. Really hope that they realize this now and are able to win back some of the viewers, because it would be nice to have enjoyable Star Wars content coming out each year. I really hope Andor Season 2 isn't the last good show we get.
I agree 100%. Kathleen Kennedy has damaged the brand with the fanbase to such an extreme you'd think it wouldn't be possible. The fact she still has her job is literally insane. I think she has two internal issues that she has tried to use SW as an outlet for: she's a massive narcissist, who cares more about her personal desires and wishes for the SW universe than those that fit within the lore. And 2) she's very bitter about certain issues of society, and while some are valid criticisms, she has not approached them in a positive way. It's one thing to want more balanced representation in movies and such, since men and white people did indeed dominate roles for decades, but Kennedy hasn't balanced that at ALL. She just flipped the script, and now has tried to suppress any characters that are male or non-alternative, while constantly making heavily female-focused casts and main roles for every single medium: films, shows, games, books, comics, etc. It's VERY obvious. It paints her as a severe hypocrite, because she's now doing the SAME thing she thought was wrong for decades, just in reverse. I'm a Native American woman, who has two intersex conditions and is on the Spectrum, so I'm as far from the social group she thinks is the problem as possible. I'm literally the target audience she THINKS she's appeasing. If people like me can see her hypocrisy and how she's damaged and disrespected male roles, and made so much content repitive and unrealistic with the constant girl-boss themes (which don't even appeal to us the way she has them written), then anyone can see it I have enjoyed plenty of Disney SW content, but I've been extremely disappointed by a lot of the most important stuff. And I can definitely understand why a large part of the fanbase feels betrayed. Imagine if a guy took over Barbie, and suppressed all the female characters and made Ken the absolute dominant role, everything about Ken, and focused on non-stop masculine storylines and themes. All to try and bring male audiences in. It wouldn't work. They would alienize the female base, which is the main base, without attracting enough new fans to make up for it, because they would have lost the plot of what Barbie is about. Guys that like it, would have already been fans, but it's still a female based product at the end of the day. That's what she has done to SW. She tried to change it to bring in female audiences, not realizing lots of us already loved it, and she lost a lot more fans in the process. She deserves to be fired and blacklisted from the industry for the rest of her life, and her arrogance disgusts me. I can't believe how much she has hurt this franchise.
Honestly I finally got tired of Star Wars and Marvel during the low quality content spam phase. Unless it's something that's right up my alley I don't bother to watch anymore.
4:49 I know this is a kids show, and they do need to lend that some credence, but let's not act like kids around 8-14 weren't tuning into Filonis Star Wars The Clone Wars which was almost exclusively about war and the negative ramifications of it
There were some *HARDCORE* episodes of the Clone Wars. Also, there’s a difference between things *being made* for children (a lot of kid shows where there’s not much substance) and things *being suitable* for children (shows that have elements kids might not understand, but can still enjoy).
Star Wars needs a Hail Mary. It needs a home run. It needs to do the stuff that works. No more experiments. No more novel ideas. No more luxurious failures.
all successful Star Wars contests fans have liked are original content even if they may be prequel to something,. I don't know why you say " No more novel ideas" do you really just want see Vader and the Jedi all day.
@@Ya0959 Vader? Somewhat but I would kill for an actual Jedi show now. We haven't seen a Jedi in their highest form at all in live action. We saw the falling of them in the prequels, the remnants in the original, and the fall of them again in the sequels. We never seen Jedi being Jedi without sucking at all
I really don't care about Disney SW anymore, not even going to watch Andor S2, and I really enjoyed the first season and watched it three times. I'll just play an old game or watch clone wars to get my nostalgia fix.
I’m starting a new tradition this year. Once the Christmas tree is down, my vintage falcon is going on display for the month of January, and I’ll be making an event out of watching ESB.
Star Wars used to be a strong franchise. There were movie pictures that enticed people to go to the cinema in droves. Now we have descended to jubilating if a show is not cringeworthy or outright bad. Who would watch such shows? Not I!
Not even sure I still have a sub for D+. Had a free one through my phone plan and deleted the app when I heard Lizzo was appearing in Mando. Never finished the 3rd season, don’t care.
This is just a kids show? Not really a Star Wars show for the older and active fans? Not really surprising no fan is watching this.. But I'm happy the kids have some Star Wars content to enjoy
It's not a "kids show". Cocomelon and Dora are kids shows because adults get nothing out of them. Its more accurate to call Skeleton Crew a "family show" because while it's aimed more for kids, there's still quite a bit for adults to enjoy alongside them.
I mentioned this in a previous video, but I think kids these days aren't that into Star Wars, though I think it also depends on the region. For example, I'm from South America and Star Wars has never been a hugely popular franchise, I have some young relatives who are still in elementary school and I asked them if they knew about Star Wars and they told me that they've heard about it but they never watched any of the movies, shows or even the LEGO spin-offs, but they have seen and are huge fans of other franchises like Marvel, DC, Transformers, Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario, Minecraft, etc. They even have Disney+, but they use it to watch Marvel content
@@WiseSnake Yes, I'm sure parents can watch it together with their kids. It's a family show as someone commented above.. But that is only interesting for older fans if the franchise has some strong backbone, which in it's current Disney state, it has not. There are plenty of better alternatives out there
Hey Thor , I really enjoy your channel. Regarding Star Wars, Skeleton Crew , it’s a fine show ! Unfortunately my expectations aren’t high for Disney Star Wars Content! I just can’t see how a company can fail so many times ! It’s so frustrating! I honestly haven’t interacted with anybody who watched this or even knows it’s released, crazy right I mean it’s Star Wars!! I personally enjoy Animated Star Wars much better than live action. An episode of Bad Batch has more action and lore than most of the live action we’ve gotten! Why can’t they translate that kind story telling & action into a live action series ?
I think we need a poll to see if the 65% are not watching because they are just off SW altogether, they arent interested in a 'kids' show, havent got to it yet, or taking a short break from SW. or are waiting for all episodes to be out, or other. curious.
After the onslaught of disappointment, character assassins and betrayals it is no wonder most fans have logged off. Kenobi killed my heart. Should we suffer more?
I’ve been burned too many times to care. From what I hear, the first few episodes featured kids and the “stunning and brave” theme was in full effect. No thank you.
Why should I care. Disney powerbombs multiple stories concerning characters I care about straight into the mud. Repeatedly. There are only so many Book of Bobba Fetts, ObiWan, and Ashokas I can stand before I sinply lose interest. Skeleton crew is now the second star wars show Ive ignored entirely (after Acylote). Its good that some people enjoy Skeleton Crew. But my kids arent old enough to watch even that yet, and I dont have the time to waste on a child-oriented show that "might" be worth watching in the end. Particularly when I have a backlog of good shows I already need to catch up on.
I've seen it said before; the opposite of love is not hate. Because when you hate something, you still care about it. The opposite of love is indifference. Star Wars under Disney just kept doubling down on decisions that made the fanbase upset, until at last the the fanbase burned through their anger and just stopped caring. Most people I know either quit somewhere between episode's 8/9 or quit after Kenobi made it clear that the first 2 seasons of Mandolarian being good was a fluke. I only watched Andor after the fact to see what all the praise I'd seen from channels like this was all about and I know a lot of formerly big time Star Wars fans who haven't watched it or anything Star Wars related in years. Making a good show can't bring apathetic fans back, because those people aren't following any of this anymore.
My feeling toward Star Wars are so weird now, I both Love it and deeply hate it. I started collecting Star Wars Unlimited card. I find a revenge of the sith Anakin Skywalker I get all excited, suddenly I open a pack and I find Finn from the force awaken and I'm reminded that those film still exist lol
I wish they could unlock themselves from this runtime or certain number of episodes. This obviously could have been a two part or long episode. I don’t know when they are going to realize they are not on regular television anymore, and they can pretty much do any thing because people can turn it off and on at their leasure.
Well most of the old die hard fans went and got a bit funny about it when Disney had the baffling strategy of insulting and ridiculing them…so they walked away. Disney wanted to cultivate the modern audience who failed to show up once again. Disney had the golden egg and threw it against the wall.
@achaudhari101 yeah, we're to blame for for Disney releasing trash products constantly. You're more of the problem than we are. Did you get your fill of disney slop today?
@@achaudhari101 what utter nonsense…..all the fans are guilty of is having the audacity to say they dislike most of what Disney has made. Disney openly admit that one of the first priorities whilst the ink on the contract was still wet was to jettison the existing fanbase. Stupidity beyond belief and now they are paying for it and have no one but themselves to blame.
I'm in the 65% of your responders and I would say I don't feel the need to watch mediocre content because I know I can watch people sum it up and discuss it on youtube with commentary in a transformative way. save myself 20 minutes and get the take home message
I'm just waiting for Andor Season 2. Quite convenient for me that the last Disney Star Wars show that I have any remote interest in watching is on its final season.
Hey Thor, the sad part is not that a new Star Wars show gets no eyes on it. The sad part is that Disney will simply not admit to itself that it has failed.
I’m not supporting anything Star Wars. As far as I’m concerned the franchise is dead. I need to see changes at the executive level and/or a massive change in direction . I need them to have a story to tell and not content to promote. There’s been no attempt to heal the fanbase. They need to leave it alone until they have a script and a direction. Little projects like this would be fantastic if the universe as a whole was healthy. Unfortunately we are where we are with the franchise. It’s not a fun place to be anymore regardless of what you think of Disney. Disney has cultivated the toxic fanbase they are so happy to complain about by taking sides, insulting those who disagree and ignoring honest complaints. That’s on them.
Skeleton Crew is suffering from the same problem Andor had. The last two shows we got before Skeleton Crew were The Acolyte and Ahsoka which disappointed a lot of Star Wars fans. When Disney released Skelton Crew a lot of people assumed it was going to suck like they did when Andor came out.
Disney has done some major damage to the Star Wars brand. They market the heck out of Acolyte and under (basically don't) market Skeleton Crew; in all honesty, it isn't a surprise SC is failling to get the numbers, it was preceeded by an awful show that hated the fans, and SC has barely any marketing to call in new viewers. It's just a sad conclusion to Disney and KK's Star Wars, to die forgotten thanks to their own hubris and lack of love for the franchise, I'm just sad for all the people who seemed really passionate about Skeleton Crew that ended up getting the short end of the stick thanks to KK.
@@achaudhari101 Fans pointing and laughing at Disney are the best one, they appreciate a good show and watching Disney roll down the hill is a very good show
Everyone left and they themselves(and their pets in the media) told everyone to leave. If they didn’t want this outcome maybe they shouldn’t have antagonized people on a weekly basis.
I got the feeling that they told the story in such a way that left the door open to go back to that planet and for a couple of those characters to appear again in season 2 should they be lucky enough to get a season 2. But unlike what they did with the final episode of the Acolyte, the story doesn't depend on there being a 2nd season. They also told a self-contained story in that episode, at least as it relates to that planet.
To me Star Wars has always been movies, except CW which had such long seasons it can't be thought of in that way, so I wait to binge these shows until the whole season is done
Hey Thor, I've been wanting to ask you a few questions. In AOTC, Lama Su explained to Obi-Wan on Kamino that the Clone Trooper's are designed to be perfect soldiers from birth with no self-expression's, and they were modified to be very obedient without any question. But in TCW and The Bad Batch, We see the Clones act more human and less programmed. Examples like... - They think for themselves, and they question their General's authorities. - You see them having drinks at a bar. - One is a deserter and lives on a farm with his wife and kids. - The other is working as a dish washer. - The Bad Batch working for Ciddarin Scaleback as Mercenaries. - The concept where each Clones contains inhibitor chips inside their brains just so Palpatine can only activate them by declaring Order 66, which seems like too much of a convenient catch-all Doesn't all of this contradict AOTC as a whole about what Lama Su said to Obi-Wan? Or do you think Lama Su and the entire Kaminoan government was covering up all of their actual dirty secrets? Because the Clone Army was meant to be the SW version of a Trojan Horse where they infiltrated the Republic itself and the Jedi Order to have them slaughtered as a tactical move in order to take over the Galaxy. What are your thoughts on Darth Plagueis being the true mastermind behind the creation of the Clone army? And why didn't the Jedi Order not sense that the Clone Army was nothing more than a set up for their downfall? I'd like to hear your thoughts on all of this
The clone concept in AOTC was simply not thought out completely. It ultimately made no distinction between clones and droids. A clone was better than a droid _because_ he had a human's freedom of thought, but if you removed that freedom of thought, then a clone would be no better than a droid. TCW's creation team understood the assignment...and created good stories around the obvious unintended consequences of an army of human beings.
@kirkdarling4120 you missed the whole point of the clone wars. It was cold unfeeling machine verses cold unfeeling machine. Both were made in factories for one purpose, war. Theirs is not to reason why, theirs is but to do and die.
Clones vs droids was actually a huge moral dilemma for the republic and the jedi. How would you fight an army full of replaceable machines. Do you raise an army of fully sentient beings to fight an enemy that could easily replace their losses. In this scenario the republic is handed an army of soldiers who were created with the sole purpose to fight for the republic and aren’t necessarily irreplaceable but still have the ability to be replenished faster and have better training than a new inexperienced conscripted army.
@Oscar-mh7ez the moral dilemma was more that if the republic could not inspire its own citizenry to willing sign up and risk their lives in a war to protect it, does the republic still have the right to exist as an entity. The clones are an acceptable stop gap, but after the first six months if the republic couldn't inspire tge creation of a volunteer fighting force than it had no reason to continue to exist. The true irony of the republic was that everyone wanted the benefits of the republic without any of the necessary duties and obligations it would require to maintain and sustain it.
It’s insane how much Disney has alienated the Star Wars fanbase. I’ve enjoyed this show, I watch everything Star Wars that gets put out still and have different levels of enjoyment but I still do. But I think these viewership ratings are indicative of how badly Disney has alienated their fanbase.
The brand is a spent force, no pun intended. I havent watched Andor, Ashoka, Mando S3, Visions, Acolyte and whatever else has come out. I’d Seen enough with Obi Wan and Boba Fett shows. Can anyone sincerely say Ive missed out on hours and hours of quality entertainment that really adds something unique? I have an £800 lego millennium falcon, now I’m just a former fan of this franchise. It feels odd given my house has star wars all around it but I just don’t feel anything for the brand, I don’t hate it, I no longer love it. Its like an ex, I hope she’s happy and doing well, and I know I’m better off without her.
I know you're short on options for the polls. But it would be interesting to see how many of your viewers have just unsubscribed from Disney plus entirely. I was subbing solely for the Star wars content and after Ahsoka i stopped caring and unsubscribed. Though i will resub for Andor season 2. Idk, a poll asking something to this effect would be interesting.
I teach 5th and 6th grade - pretty much the exact demographic people are always saying Star Wars is for - and not a single student is watching it. Most haven't even heard of it. Even the kids who like Star Wars and have Disney+. Like Andor, Disney obviously has no interest in promoting it. And, like Andor, if and when they finally DO try, like by putting the pilot on network TV or whatever, it will be too little, too late.
Before SC released I predicted that it wouldn’t appeal to today’s kids. Thanks for confirming that this show is really a kid’s show for adults. It’s obvious that the original Star Wars trilogy already had appeal to kids who want to feel what it’s like to grow up. SC is the opposite, it’s for adults who want to look back
Thanks for the review/update Thor. I am still one of those that have little interest in watcihng it until i know if it ends strong or not and even then i am might still not watch. Also not a fan of the variable run time per episode as it feels like the audience is being cheated. Like they are stretching this to be 'longer' than it actually is or cutting corners so it seems to make more sense for a binge experience.
tbh skeleton crew is a pretty niche star wars show. it has entirely new characters, it's for kids like the ewok movies, doesn't have very cool looking characters other than SM-33, and that your audience definitely do not like disney, especially enough to show that they visibly not support it. i hope that it gets a season 2 through lucasfilm just seeing the great ratings like they did with andor or something. idk what is considered a "success" to lucasfilms or not.
Doesn't matter how good a show is. It's hard to Star Wars fans back after labeling the majority of them racists and sexists because your writing is dogshit.
@achaudhari101 Believe what you will. The media weren't the ones who said the Force is female. Or put actors and actresses on a pedestal due to their race and gender.
Its sad that this shows been way better than The Acolyte or Kenobi or even the Boba Fett show. Whats up with them making sleeper hits like Andor and Skeleton Crew?
Hi Thor I think that all the planets looks the same, the are in some sort of project. Maybe to see how the inhabitants on equal planets develops under different circumstances along the years. I think all have a different setup and have achieved different results.
Sad to say but this show has the same problem Acolyte does - it's made for an audience that doesn't exist. 7-12 kids aren't watching Star Wars anymore.
Maybe it just had poor marketing like Andor did, but the trailers for Skeleton Crew made it look exceedingly boring and not matching of the Star Wars aesthetic.
Making a TV show for Children is kinda stupid cause kids dont watch TV. They doomscroll on ipads. If it isnt constant action no gen alpha kid is gonna give a fuck
This is a great family show, and as a step father who wants to find ways to bond with the kids with a galaxy I grew up loving, this show hits the spot.
This show is actually good. The problem is they have churned out so much 💩 that the fan base gave up on watching. They tore down what fans loved about Star Wars. Fans have walked away!
Star Wars was the first movie I saw at a cinema. It had a profound influence on my life. I stopped bothering with any Disney Star Wars since Rise. I can't be the only one.
With the huge price increases for nothing of quality (Andor aside) I'm not going to re-subscribe to D+. It's an unfortunate situation as garbage shows like The Acolyte and BoBF have made my decision for me, meaning Skeleton Crew suffers too.
I wonder if the illegitimate streams. If included,, would change a lot of the official watch counts for series and episodes. Legitimate sources are considered the bare minimum when it comes to folks actually watching the shows. The iceberg beneath the surface. A lot of comments here and abroad are worded in a particular way. They don't say they're 'not watching the show'. They specifically say they are not subscribed to Disney+
Disney killed Star Wars for me. Straight up. Trying harder and putting out some better content under this regime is not going to do anything to sway the negative good will they've engendered. Only a complete reboot, new leadership, and new direction would ever get me to at least show any interest in anything Star Wars Disney puts out ever again. Kind of like with the new Superman trailer - I'm super glad WB realised their DCU wasn't working and they've decided to scrap it and try again. The trailer looks... promising, so I'll at least give it the benefit of the doubt for now, but god the DCU films were abominable, so they've got a lot to make up for as well.
I will NOT give Disney a SINGLE chance UNTIL Bob Iger & Kathleen Worthless Kennedy are FIRED (not a promotion). Until then and the Trash Trilogy from Disney is erased from Canon, I don't care how "good" anyone says a Star Wars show is. Because it's trash to me even if it's good if it exists in that universe. Rogue One is the only thing Disney did right in my opinion, because you can put it into Legends perfectly fine. Mandalorian I don't even like as much because they have to mention the f***ing "First Order" 🤪
I am a starwars fan, but Disney ruined all new Disney wars for me with the last Jedi! I will not give that filthy company any of my money, even if it's good! Still watch your channel as you are entertaining, and i enjoy your enthusiasm for the new Disney wars, but won't be changing my mind, cheers thor.
Disney hates my values so I will not subscribe to Disney plus and my kids won’t even know what Disney has done with Star Wars and grow up and probably not be super fans like I was.
as Thor has pointed out, and I agree with him here, this is one of those 'good' shows. It's a pity that Disney didn't put out this level of quality earlier and more consistently.
This is a part of the evolving landscape of streaming as well as the damage disney has done to the brand. When Disney+ started with the Mandalorian the streaming service only $7 per month and there was much less streaming competition. People are voting with their wallet and no longer subscribing to Disney+. When House of the Dragon comes out with a new season. I will wait till the final month of new shows to subscribe to MAX, catch up on the season and watch the last few episodes. I might catch some other shows I have missed and then cancel. I am enjoying Skeleton Crew and am looking forward to Andor.
I'm still on board with Skeleton Crew. Been really enjoying it so far but agree with your assessment of ep4. At this point my main concern is the lack of urgency in the story... i feel like every episode should have one or two cut-aways to the pirates and/or bounty hunters on the tail of the kids. One of the problems with mando s3 is that there was no main villain until Moff Gideon appeared at the end so it just meandered too much. It's really sad that people can't or don't want to give Star wars 30 minutes of their time a week. To me, it feels more important to support good star wars (and so far I believe SC is good SW) and show up for the shows we like than to boycott altogether.
I have disney+, i have't watched skeleton crew nor have i watched any of their other star wars shows. I haven't heard anyone talking about this show and I haven't seen anything about it outside of the few SW channels that i follow... back for the first couple of seasons of the Mandalorian, i heard people talking about it all the time! I really don't care anymore and I have other stuff do watch/do... YT gets almost all of my viewing time now. If i find myself with nothing better to do, i might watch this show 🙂 It is pretty funny that I (and many other people) like to watch people talk about the shows but never watch the actual shows 😆
I used to be quite invested in my disappointment with much of the Disney carnage; however, I think there has to be a time to let go and move on. The past cannot be re-written; it's done. If we just boycott, it will dry up or they'll just make things worse in desperation. If I hear from trusted sources (such as this channel) that something is bad then I probably will not watch it, but if I hear it's good then I'll give it a try. As 'fans' we should send positive messages when they get things right; not just negative ones when they screw up.
This is the consequence of destroying all good will your fanbase had left (for those still left in the fan base that is).
I guess that "Star Wars" still has a lot of fans. "Disney Star Wars" doesn't, though.
this is unfortunate because there is stuff being made that is really good like Andor and Skeleton Crew.
I don't think it matters, Disney have damaged the brand badly enough that people aren't even hate-watching the series
At this point, they need to put out good content and let it speak for itself. It seems the stuff they promote is absolute ass and the stuff they don’t is better than everything else.

Star Wars might have jumped the shark once people started surviving blows to the torso with a lightsaber. Completely devalued the stakes
That would have been season 4 of the Clone Wars, when Darth Maul reappeared. Aired in 2011/2012 before Disney bought Lucasfilm...
@gildor8866 fair point, but I was thinking live-action...

@TheChristianPsychopath that's not true. Kathleen let Rian Johnson do whatever he wanted and we got the last jedi

As someone who hasn’t watched it, let me offer my perspective:
As long as the sequels stand I just don’t care anymore.

Luke was literally the Chosen one archetype of A new hope lmfao what are you on about @@petersanzen4106

Nobody cares if it's good, Disney drove away the fans already.
Disney shot itself in the foot viewershipwise by persuing narratives that had nothing to do with Star Wars. It will take shows like Skeleton crew to win that back. Like Andor it may take a while for fans to filter in.

A lot of people will probably say anything that de-cannonizes the Disney Star Wars lore.
For me it would be the Jedi survivor games. I acknowledge they aren't perfect. But dropping a one time fee on a game is more appealing for me than a subscription fee directly to Disney.
You can't feed someone a catshit sandwich a 100 times then expect them to except baloney sandwich. We know the cat shit is somewhere in there.
If people like me can see her hypocrisy and how she's damaged and disrespected male roles, and made so much content repitive and unrealistic with the constant girl-boss themes (which don't even appeal to us the way she has them written), then anyone can see it
I have enjoyed plenty of Disney SW content, but I've been extremely disappointed by a lot of the most important stuff.

Finally someone actually said something accurate on what type of show SC is.
There is plenty of subtext for adults to meditate on while watching.
@@WiseSnake Yes, I'm sure parents can watch it together with their kids. It's a family show as someone commented above..
Disney/Lucasfilm worked hard for years to get to this point. And now they are reaping what they sowed.
So the new audience didn’t show up.

Episode 3 was the end for my family, it was too dumb to watch
And her Acolytes being the Apathetic Fanbase like the Fandom Menace.
@@achaudhari101 Fans pointing and laughing at Disney are the best one, they appreciate a good show and watching Disney roll down the hill is a very good show
You mean Kennedy Acolytes like you?
@@achaudhari101 If we can't get entertainment from their products, we can turn their failures into entertainment. And it's all free.
@@achaudhari101 People who despise Disney Star Wars yes. You could also just say "majority of Star Wars fans"
- The concept where each Clones contains inhibitor chips inside their brains just so Palpatine can only activate them by declaring Order 66, which seems like too much of a convenient catch-all
Doesn't all of this contradict AOTC as a whole about what Lama Su said to Obi-Wan?
Maybe this episode is a setup for future seasons. Season 2 can be the kids going back to this planet to help these people.
I’m probably gonna watch it when the full season has all dropped
I know you're short on options for the polls. But it would be interesting to see how many of your viewers have just unsubscribed from Disney plus entirely.
I was subbing solely for the Star wars content and after Ahsoka i stopped caring and unsubscribed. Though i will resub for Andor season 2. Idk, a poll asking something to this effect would be interesting.
maybe this show would do better when people can binge it.
Star wars is just dead. People need to let go
tbh skeleton crew is a pretty niche star wars show. it has entirely new characters, it's for kids like the ewok movies, doesn't have very cool looking characters other than SM-33, and that your audience definitely do not like disney, especially enough to show that they visibly not support it.
i hope that it gets a season 2 through lucasfilm just seeing the great ratings like they did with andor or something. idk what is considered a "success" to lucasfilms or not.
Doesn't matter how good a show is. It's hard to Star Wars fans back after labeling the majority of them racists and sexists because your writing is dogshit.
Except that was the media saying that crap.
@achaudhari101 Believe what you will. The media weren't the ones who said the Force is female. Or put actors and actresses on a pedestal due to their race and gender.
Just like how I blame Nike for that saying line (Which is where it actually originated from.
@@achaudhari101I know Roundhead and Daisy said that shortly after Last Jedi got its well deserved scrutiny.
@@achaudhari101and of course essentially the entire cast of the acolyte.
Its sad that this shows been way better than The Acolyte or Kenobi or even the Boba Fett show. Whats up with them making sleeper hits like Andor and Skeleton Crew?
Those two examples have relatively low stakes: no legacy characters (so far)
Hi Thor I think that all the planets looks the same, the are in some sort of project. Maybe to see how the inhabitants on equal planets develops under different circumstances along the years. I think all have a different setup and have achieved different results.
Sad to say but this show has the same problem Acolyte does - it's made for an audience that doesn't exist. 7-12 kids aren't watching Star Wars anymore.
Just waiting for the season to wrap up and binge it after if the reviews stay positive
Here is a joke. Darth Vader says to Luke Skywalker, "Luke. I know what you are getting for Christmas. I have felt your presents!"
Far too woke for me. Not a chance in Hell that I let Disney brainwash my kids.
Muted teal and orange being the only colors in the Universe make for drab and boring visuals. No wonder people aren't watching.
This show is actually good. The problem is they have churned out so much 💩 that the fan base gave up on watching. They tore down what fans loved about Star Wars. Fans have walked away!
It's a fun movie stretched thin into weekly episodes. Disney has to stop doing that.
Only commenting because I havent watched it yet, but I've been hearing good things.
I watch it on Saturday with the family during pizza lunch.
it's the Andor phenomena all over again
I look forward to the new episodes coming out. I guess that means that I like it.
I totally forgot this show was still going on right now
Disney hates my values so I will not subscribe to Disney plus and my kids won’t even know what Disney has done with Star Wars and grow up and probably not be super fans like I was.
Finally got around to watching skeleton crew on the plane ride home for the holidays 😃was pleasantly surprised it lived up to the hype
Pretty good compared to what Disney + has been putting out. Being an adult and watching a mostly kids series… it’s keeping my interest surprisingly.
Star Wars has a really bad batting average lately. I wait until people I trust tell a show it's good before I try them these days.
as Thor has pointed out, and I agree with him here, this is one of those 'good' shows. It's a pity that Disney didn't put out this level of quality earlier and more consistently.
One of the kids has MOMS so progressive
This is a part of the evolving landscape of streaming as well as the damage disney has done to the brand. When Disney+ started with the Mandalorian the streaming service only $7 per month and there was much less streaming competition. People are voting with their wallet and no longer subscribing to Disney+. When House of the Dragon comes out with a new season. I will wait till the final month of new shows to subscribe to MAX, catch up on the season and watch the last few episodes. I might catch some other shows I have missed and then cancel. I am enjoying Skeleton Crew and am looking forward to Andor.
IMHO an ok show.
