Slim Tim The theme for this tank was to make it look good... If i impress the wife, who knows what she will let me do. Obviously all of my other tanks are "fish room" style tanks, and not "living space" tanks, so she has always assumed that a DIY tank will always be ugly.
Dude to make it short and simple , u are awesome beyond words. Thanks a million for your D.I.Y guides. Am yet to build my aquarium that would cost me nothing less than 1.5K, if I would buy it from any shop or builder. Good news is, am in the phase of collecting all necessary equipment. once am done, I will post it, & dedicate it to you.
b.a. Warman I will eventually do an update to this tank... im already working on it currently. What i have to show will be one of my favorite videos i will ever do.
You can do a series like this for a thousand times, we still watch and love it. Why? We're all aquarium addicted. I haven't build any tank for years, but still follow your vids.
My wife would shoot me if she had to find a new spot for the Christmas tree because I put an aquarium in the trees spot. Looks great so far, can't wait to see the end result!
Cool build again, just so happens that I build a tank in the same way. I mean the filter on the side as you did. Now I'm trying to look into how to make a chiller by using a Peltier.
Thank you Joey! This build was AWESOME! I'm back into the hobby since my childhood (a good 25 years ago) and this video cleared my mind in so many ways! Thank you! I'll buy your book as well soon!
Hy king of diy I've ordered 8mm glass for building 60inc length 15inc breadth and 24inc hight but they have delivered 6mm glass so can I make aquarium from that glass
Hey man, great vids. Could you possibly share with us the dimensions of the tank in the vid? Looks like a big tank, are you not concerned at how the sides aren't siliconed on the bottom glass?
hi i saw when building aquariums in one of your video you put the glass on top of the base and in this one it looks like you put in on the sides , witch is better
This should look really nice in that corner. Looking forward to seeing the final project and what you stock the tank with. I'm hoping to see a planted tank or a reef tank.
Man you may need to start building all in one tanks for sale. Even better if you could some how build in closed loop water flow system behind that false wall. Would eliminate power heads in the tank... Always wanted to do my tank like that but you have he skills to pull it off lol.
Hey I've seen a coupla tank builds but one thing still confuses me. Since I'm building a 48*20*23 (h) 8mm glass tank should I be applying silicone on the base sheet of glass and placing all the 4 vertical sheets on top of the silicone; or would the build be more durable if I do it the way shown in this video? Your advice would be greatly appreciated Joey :)
Joey, I can already see your next project....Where to move the Christmas tree as the fish tank obviously won't be giving up it's spot. Keep up the great work as always!!
OZZYTHEOSCAR She bought me my first tank... We were together only a few months when she did. She noticed i always wanted to stop at the petstore in the mall, so one day she bought me a tank she seen on an ad at work. While she is not into fish at all, she understands how much it means to me and the impact it has had on my life from the beginning. I do keep some pretty cool fish too though, so im guessing she doesn't mind seeing them. The moral to this story is: Its all her fault.

You should start your own show on the DIY network, I think plenty of people would tune in! Anyway love the work, and I get what you mean about functionality over looks. But then again nothing you've built in my opinion ever looks unpleasant in the slightest. The internal sump is such a great way to build a tank and very easy to maintain especially for a planted setup. I think you should try a high tech planted scape for this build!!!!
Hi, I have a small question. You mentioned that for saltwater tank, we need 4 chambers for it. May i ask the reason why? Sorry for a noob question. I recently just got into this amazing hobby. Thanks in advance.
Need ur suggestion I have 5×1.5×2 size aquarium glass is 8mm and glass expanding bracing is their but center brace is broken twice kindly suggest any solution
hello ! can you please help by telling me what you used to make the filter aside that i wanted it all glass without painting if possible and a really large aquarium what would i need? thanks!! :)
I want to build this as a 20 foot tank that people can swim in. For an underwater scen I want to film. What do you think I should do? I.e what would the basic measurements be?
Hi joe this is Justin I am going to turn my 29 gallon tank into an all in one saltwater tank I was wondering if the pump you used in this video would work for me as well
Gene Alameda It did end up looking pretty slick. Everything i have done and what is yet to come, will soon make sense. Everything was done for specific reasons.
Thanks for video, being in the uk houses tend to be small and have awkward places that cant be used. My fiance wants to me do one now for the puffers. she already like her tank and stand (the stand i built using your vids) but wants bigger one :)
Joey I'm a huge fan of your ideas and work. This tank has reinspired me to do another DIY project. What thickness of glass did you use for this build. Keep up the good work.
Wow. Im so impressed with that tank. Its so simple and clean and nice looking. Way to go. I keep getting more and more impressed with every video youre doing. Keep it up!!!!
Benin Churchil Im a poor example of what DIY can be... i always have been. I never build "pretty" tanks. I always build practical and functional. What it looks like has never been a priority to me as my tanks are always in my fish room. No one sees them but me.. This tank was different though. Had to impress the wife.
***** It's all fine though because the main thing is the actual knowledge you pass on. If people want to watch tips on how to make a tank pretty, they'll find their own way. I appreciate all of the videos you post, especially the ones that help me save a ton of money. Thank you for what you do.
Gavin's Aquariums It really is. I think the end result followed by the update of what happned with this tank is what im most looking forward to show you guys.
Nice! I have a similar area in my home and thought about building a custom corner tank with an angled front side. There are pre-made tanks the size and shape I want but they are hugely expensive because they are not common. Maybe I'll tackle this project while I wait for spring to arrive. Thanks for the inspiration! Gary
You're so friendly, your DIY's are informative to watch and you explained this thoroughly! I want to make my own tanks someday-- bigger, but. This is great.
Sinnipop Lolligag Thanks. I generally build big tanks. However this size will be more commonly built by most, so i took the opportunity to show case some ideas.
awesome build!you editing is getting so professional.love this vid. what are going to put in? hope its peacocks or moorii's.would love to see you do african cichlds
Hecarimgoes boom Really hard to say. As with all my videos, the focu here is on the build. I built this mainly just to be able to film the videos and show you guys. However, i do think i would like to plant it, and a few months later turn it to saltwater. However, the first thing i would like top do will be in the update video i will film, which to me is the most interesting part of this series. (Although the update will be out about a month after this series is done)
Gabriel Carvalho Thanks. I dont think my mom would allow even one tank in her house. Your lucky! With that said, I didnt get into the hobby until i had my own place. Wait until you get out on your own... ;)
The King Of DIY Dude I am so glad I found your page. My brother put me on to you and I have never been more excited. I can finally be able to build my own aquarium to my specifications and not pay 10x it's worth. The way you explain the steps helps build the confidence to DIY. Thank you even if not for me. Quick question tho. On my project I'm planning a 200ga aqarium and I want to hide my sump below. My question is: Can I drill all holes for piping underneath without disturbing the integrity of the glass? If so, Can this include air lines?
Man I can't wait until my builds start looking that good. Love your vids Joey keep em coming. :)
You've gotta love it when the missus supports your hobby!
Fired Up!!! one of the first to watch. Nicely done, never seen white used before. (Matches the fireplace). Come on part 2.
Slim Tim The theme for this tank was to make it look good... If i impress the wife, who knows what she will let me do. Obviously all of my other tanks are "fish room" style tanks, and not "living space" tanks, so she has always assumed that a DIY tank will always be ugly.

+Vijay Thiagarajan I look forward to it!
i marvel at people who can create things with their bare hands. I struggle to put together Ikea furniture.
Great start to the series.
***** Thanks brother
They just keep getting better and better. :)
b.a. Warman I will eventually do an update to this tank... im already working on it currently. What i have to show will be one of my favorite videos i will ever do.
***** Ahhh, stop it! Can't wait.

My wife would shoot me if she had to find a new spot for the Christmas tree because I put an aquarium in the trees spot. Looks great so far, can't wait to see the end result!
fishead 2925 If we planned on having the tree there every year, she wouldn't have suggested that spot. I think this year, it will be in our den.
Cool build again, just so happens that I build a tank in the same way. I mean the filter on the side as you did. Now I'm trying to look into how to make a chiller by using a Peltier.

i see you build the tank, how do you know that the seem is going to hold the water pressure
The same way yours holds.
Hey man, great vids. Could you possibly share with us the dimensions of the tank in the vid? Looks like a big tank, are you not concerned at how the sides aren't siliconed on the bottom glass?
Can u plz tell me dimensions of Yr tank and how much thick glass used in that tank.
hi i saw when building aquariums in one of your video you put the glass on top of the base and in this one it looks like you put in on the sides , witch is better
Hello! I do not understand English well without the credits. Maybe you said what size the aquarium would have, but I did not understand.
What is the size of this tank?
Can you combine 2-3 10 gallon tanks? I’m interested in making one long tank cause I have 3 10 gallon tanks
Makes me wounder if poster foam board could be used the create the filtration box if you don't have acrylic?
Why did you silicone the walls on the side of the bottom glass instead of on the top?
Where do you get this glass from? What thickness do you get? Non tempered or tempered?
Can I ask what is the material of the board?and what mucilage you used to fix the board to the tank?
Joey, you never cease to amaze me with your ideas and know-how. Thank you for contributing so much to an already wonderful hobby!
This should look really nice in that corner. Looking forward to seeing the final project and what you stock the tank with. I'm hoping to see a planted tank or a reef tank.
Dahlyvh - Brian's Fish Tanks I was on plan with stocking, when i was thrown an interesting curve ball. I will update on that when the time comes. ;)
That’s white is flat white or semi-gloss or gloss white ? Thank you so much !
Which kind of white you used for the paint glass ? Thank you
How will the built in sump get the poop beneath the tank if its only for overflow?
Man you may need to start building all in one tanks for sale. Even better if you could some how build in closed loop water flow system behind that false wall. Would eliminate power heads in the tank... Always wanted to do my tank like that but you have he skills to pull it off lol.
CJ'S AQUARIUMS Thanks CJ. I much prefer to teach rather than sell though. I dont do this for the money. If i did, i would have quit years ago! haha

Simi gloss or gloss white you used? Thank you so much !

Daniel Anderson haha! Thanks
what websites can the glass or acrylic be ordered?
I think that's the only video of you that I dont disliked
Nice discus tank? ;)
or Reef haha
How do you build an aquarium hood to go on a glass tank?
saltwater or fresh a reef would look very cool there
Why you dont reply any of your comments?
looks very modern and sharp. Time will tell how dirt may show...
Ray Chipchase Thanks Ray, although this is not my first white tank. Just like any tank. Dirt only shows as poorly as i keep it clean.
tank looks slick in white - good job.
Great video Joey ! Looks amazing. Where do you find a wife that will tell you to put a tank in an awkward space ? I really want to know this :) LOL
OZZYTHEOSCAR She bought me my first tank... We were together only a few months when she did. A very understanding wife...... mine does not understand my fascination at all and never will :)
You should start selling tanks.. I'd buy a tank like this from you in a heartbeat.
mkcrew225 I have never been interested in building to sell. I would rather build to teach. Thank you for the compliment though!
Thanks is not enough, but anyway Thanks for all your great videos.
happytrigger My pleasure!

the material of the blue thing please and did you paint it white or have you used acrylic paint?
its white acrylic with a sticker on it to protect during shipping.

Hi could u tell me the measurements on the glass and acrylic as I want to build the same as urs
I mentioned dimensions. It's made from 6mm glass.
hello ! can you please help by telling me what you used to make the filter aside that i wanted it all glass without painting if possible and a really large aquarium what would i need? thanks!! :)
Good stuff joe,can u do some more exotic fish profiles, things of that nature. Keep it up.
Caleb Price Profiles are something i get a lot of request for. Its something i will consider for sure.
Thks joey, for responce,we love ya in portland ,or.
Did you end up doing anything with aquaponics? Do you plan to?
I already have at least 3 videos on that. I plan on one or two more though.
I have a 60"x18"x24" glass tank that is made of 1/4" glass. Can this tank be made rimless?
I want to build this as a 20 foot tank that people can swim in. For an underwater scen I want to film. What do you think I should do? I.e what would the basic measurements be?
Hi joe this is Justin I am going to turn my 29 gallon tank into an all in one saltwater tank I was wondering if the pump you used in this video would work for me as well
Great build, reall like the euro brace and white
Gene Alameda It did end up looking pretty slick. Everything i have done and what is yet to come, will soon make sense. Everything was done for specific reasons.

My fiance wants to me do one now for the puffers. she already like her tank and stand (the stand i built using your vids) but wants bigger one :)
Very nice build so far. It looks great.
It took 5 years to realize you weren't showing a 3D image of your tank, it's just the white and gray contrast that made it look like that.... oohhh
That is really GREAT Joey!!! I Love IT!!! I also love white..ofcourse it goes with the living space.
What is the optimal flow rate of the pump in a corner sponge hamburg filter for aquarium of the same dimension having guppies in it?
Joey I'm a huge fan of your ideas and work. This tank has reinspired me to do another DIY project. What thickness of glass did you use for this build.
Keep up the good work.
nice tank I think I watched this video like 5 times. I want to build a tank for salt water. would 1/4 inch acrylic work just as good?
Awesome like always. Looking forward to the next week's episode.
The tank looked amazing. Like something you would see out of a high end manufacturer! Wish i was that handy lol.
That tank looks AMAZING I love the white background, and the filter blends amazingly well, I'm so excited for part two! Keep it up Joey 😊
great idea for a video, it is really cool to see all the past techniques applied in a real use scenario. I can't wait to see the finished system.
Wow. Im so impressed with that tank. Its so simple and clean and nice looking. Way to go. I keep getting more and more impressed with every video youre doing. Keep it up!!!!
Mark Morgan Thanks Mark! Although i think my best video were done a long time ago, i just did a crappy job filming them. haha
Wow the tank looks so industry manufactured, Can't say its DIY !
Benin Churchil Im a poor example of what DIY can be... i always have been. I never build "pretty" tanks. I always build practical and functional. That white does look good
i really wanna know where dp ypu get those glass cuz i wanna make big tank
I love the look of the white on the tank, this project looks exciting...!
Gavin's Aquariums It really is. I think the end result followed by the update of what happned with this tank is what im most looking forward to show you guys.
And if i can't get acrylic what would be a better option for the filter
Nice! I have a similar area in my home and thought about building a custom corner tank with an angled front side. There are pre-made tanks the size and shape I want but they are hugely expensive because they are not common. Maybe I'll tackle this project while I wait for spring to arrive.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Gary
Gary Muir Sometimes it can be cheaper to buy. Sometimes its easier. You dont always have to build to accomplish what you want.
True, but it's more fun to build one!
Gary Muir It can be rewarding for sure.
got that 1337 upvote

What kind of glue do you use to glue acrylic on glass?
awesome build!you editing is getting so professional.love this vid.
what are going to put in? hope its peacocks or moorii's.would love to see you do african cichlds
DeWet Lamprecht Thanks! I will be updating what will be in this tank soon enough.
"My wife told me I should build a custom aquarium for it.." Wait...WHAT?? ;)
whitedragon1337 Thats what i said... haha
how did you manage to bond acrylic an glass? or is it cut to fit?
+Pablo Gomez Just silicone, as shown in the video about how to build the integrated filter. There's water on both sides of it, so no pressure at all.
+Tom Duhamel thanks man
Another great video.....great job
DummyWaiho Thank you!
can't wait for next video :D
mike4darkness good! see you next week!
Great job, Joey! Very clean.

marizen2 Your welcome!
How do you edit your green screen, do you use IMOVIE?
Hey joey are you going to aqua scape this tank?

L Parker Awesome! Thanks for coming along for my journey in the hobby!
Can't wait to see the final product.
Just Wow! Thanks.
Kaleb Morris Your welcome! Is that a traxxas in your pic? My son loves RCs and wants one.
Great job on the video, I'd love to build another tank, to bad I already have 4 and my mom would kill me if I did
Gabriel Carvalho Thanks. I dont think my mom would allow even one tank in her house. Your lucky! With that said, I didnt get into the hobby until i had my own place. Wait until you get out on your own... ;)
Super excited about these 3 videos!
Gees my friend you sure do like gray

Earnest Stallings If the glass is not tempered, you can drill it. I have videos on drilling. :)
How's the tank have you got fish yet
