Thank you! Haters are going to hate out of jealousy. The only reason, though, that we rag on you for using the same video with every roadie is because Dimash has incredibly grown sooooo much since this performance and has many more videos that are out of this world! But we appreciate you supporting our beautiful Dimash and appreciate you exposing him to other artists! 💙

The thing with Dimash is, that every time he even sings the same song, and I have seen dozens of versions of SOS, he has a different nuance in it, on purpose. Or his waving of the microphone is just for that purpose of showing that it's live.

Joel, for a very similar-sounding SOS vocal performance by Dimash, here's one that the skeptics don't comment on because it's so obviously live. In 2017 the actress, Eva Longoria, invited Dimash to sing at a private VIP banquet during the Cannes Film Festival. Dimash has a portable karaoke machine with the same instrumental track as he used at the Slavic Bazaar performance you love. This video is a cell phone recording, so there are no post-production alterations. Constrained by the same pre-recorded backing track, Dimash doesn't change the vocal choices he makes, so the vocal performance is close to identical to this Slavic Bazaar performance. It's stunning and it's perfection ruclips.net/video/DBIjRSfaTW0/видео.html

There are always haters that are hell bent on pulling people down. Certain TV shows require lip syncing even for Dimash. However, he mostly sings live. There are videos where you see him pointing to his ear pieces indicting they are not working. He has taken them out and continued to see perfectly. An example would be Daididau from Bastau which is a traditional Kazakh folk song. At the beginning you see him pointing to the ear pieces and he repeatedly tries them but they are not working. He finally just takes them off and continues on. He hits notes you will not believe and does it perfectly. Check it out. You will also see him playing the Dombra.

In several interviews, Dimash has been asked if he has lip synched in any of his performances and he was very open and honest. He said that in some shows, he’s not given a choice and must lip synch. This happens more often in Russia but has happened in other countries and venues. In his defence, many of the Russian performances were at the Kremlin where I doubt any potential mishaps wouldn’t be tolerated. When Dimash sang in New York, people from 54 countries and 41 US states travelled to see him. Dimash has said that there have been times during his tours where, after multiple days of singing his 3 hr concerts, he has lost his voice or a portion of it and in these cases he has had to lip synch. I believe when Dimash was younger he was known to cancel shows if he couldn’t sing live but with experience and maturity he’s realized how many people he will disappoint if he does this now, especially in his world tour where he’s never performed in many European countries. Additionally, hundreds of people will travel from all over the world (no exaggeration) to attend one of his concerts so it would be a bit self-centered to disappoint these fans and potentially new fans in a new country to cancel a show that has been in the works for months or even a year. Now, I don’t know if or when he lip synched but Dimash will not hide it. There have been so many people who have never seen him in concert accuse him of lip synching and people who have attended those specific concerts, close to the stage who swear he sung live. Given Dimash’s classical training, the people who’ve attended state his voice is incredibly loud and so projects far. Thanks you for interviewing someone so experienced in sound. He provided information about tracking that many of us have no knowledge of. I’m also of the opinion that even in those rare instances where he lip synched, he still had to sing the song and everyone who has harshly judged Dimash for lip synching know that he has sung all of his own songs. One of the most famous living Russian composers, Igor Krutoy, writes songs for Dimash. I imagine, a voice with the range, vocal mastery, performance capability and humbleness doesn’t come around every generation. Can you imagine the delight any composer must experience being free to write songs without the usual constraints?! Dimash is also extraordinarily lucky to have the opportunity to work with such a respected composer. Let’s appreciate the magnificent talent and acknowledge the enormous amount of work Dimash has committed in mastering the skill of singing, performance and pursuing his love of singing and making people happy. Thanks for an excellent and informative interview.

I experienced him live on stage twice. Not that particular performance, others. Once his monitor failed (same song). From that incident and his reaction, the way he changed the arrangement of the song, I can tell for sure that he sings live in his solo concerts. There was also an incident when he wasn't able to place his earpiece in time properly because the cable got stuck. He laughed because of that - so interrupted the note he was just singing. There are occasions when he is forced to lipsync by his contract (certain TV shows). The Dimash I personally experience sang live for sure. But live or lipsync - his skill is otherworldly! He CAN and he DOES all that. No one in the entire world, in the past or presence compares to him. Because no one is as versatile as he is. Plus he is a gifted composer and multi- instrumentalist. Just check out his original The Story of one Sky - live version. You haven't seen something like that before! People out there, only because you don't believe someone is able to sing like Dimash, it doesn't mean he is fake. There are so many a capella videos of him singing unplugged in ordinary rooms, spontaneously singing alone or with friends. He IS that good

Yes, I’ve heard that some producers make it mandatory to lip sync (just like in the English show Top of the pops where bands had to pretend to play, even the drums). I have heard that lip sync is not allowed in China ? If so, just watch a Chinese performance by Dimash , he’s as marvelous as ever… having said that, i was quite disappointed when I watched Daybreak in Bastau (which i ADORE) that was played a cappella -music removed- and you could undoubtedly hear a voice trick at the very end, before he falls on his knees…

      @whatevs4314 Год назад +9

@@christinedufour4862 it’s very normal for artists to do those things, especially during an exhausting 3.5 hour concert. I also think it’s unfair to Dimash for his fans to hold such high and almost impossible expectations of him. I can’t imagine the pressure he must feel to always be perfect, even though he’s not. He’s already the best vocalist alive (IMO), so I wish he’d not be so tough on himself.

A little background on the Slaavic Bazaar held in Belarus. This is a competition for young adult performers and children of Slaavic and non-Slaavic countries. They sing two songs live!!! The first song has recorded backing music and the second is done with the orchestra at the Slaavic Bazaar. In 2015, when he was 21, Dimash won Grand Champion at the Slaaavic Bazaar. I think that’s where the producer of the Chinese Show “Singer” saw him for the first time and decided to invite Dimash to come to do 2 performances at “Singer”. Dimash sang your favorite song”S.O.S.” at his first performance. It was so loved by the people and Dimash got so many fans , that they asked him to compete for the whole show and gave him bodyguards to keep away all the fans. Dimash won for that performance over all the professional Chinese singers. He was the first non-Chinese performer to ever compete in “Singer”, he was the youngest contestant, and the only amateur to compete. They called him, “Our younger foreign brother”. He came in second place at “Singer”. The Slaavic Bazaar” is a festival with a competition. Dimash loves it and he goes every year that he can. He has performed there several years since he won and on occasion, he is a judge. In 2021, Dimash sang three songs, “ Be With Me”, “Stranger” and “ Ave Maria”. The Slaavic Bazaar is where I think, Igor Krutoy first heard Dimash sing. That’s when he decided to come out of retirement to write songs for Dimash. Listen to Dimash sing S.O.S. at the Slaavic Bazaar in 2015 and listen to your favorite version, just 6 years later! WOW! Enjoy! When Dimash was on Russian and Chinese tv, Dimash says that they pre-recorded songs just in case something went wrong. Dimash was trained to sing live! He was classically trained since age 5. That another story for another day! This should end the lip-syncing thinking for now! If you would watch other versions of SOS, you will notice that they are just a little different every time. This is because Dimash has heard about the lip-syncing and auto-tune. 😄❤️

Slavic Bazaar is a competition that DIMASH won in 2015. He was brought back as a guest during this event (2018). Don't know if he also was a judge this time. He used the same mic to talk when he finished performing. So the question is, if the resonance sounds the same after an alleged "lip syncing" performance w the same mic. Can you switch from a trac to a hot mic with in 30 seconds? DIMASH gives the impression, many times, that he cld be lip syncing because of how effortless or the minimal effort that seems to be utilized.

Dimash sings this song every concert he does. It is always different. There is one version that he lost the sound on his inner earphones, so he just sing it without any sound guide and it was amazing. As @snarky_tart pointed, there is a version in Cannes. Nobody knew him there. When he began people were eating. Then 15 seconds later they were all filming with their cellphones, all astonished... ruclips.net/video/DBIjRSfaTW0/видео.html In this version, he was not doing a lipsync. He was a guest because he had won the first prize in this competition the year before. He had to sing 3 songs. One of them was SOS. And although an other competitor tried to sabotage his performance, he won. You can find this version on RUclips. Unfortunely all his recorded videos in Russia has a lot of pós-production...

Dimash sings SOS differently each time just to prove he's singing live because he prefers to sing live on stage. Unfortunately envy and jealousy exists in those who can't appreciate Dimash's music. Thanks for being kind toward a decent artist like Dimash.

The "lip synch" fan battle started when some fans of Dimash were accusing Vitas of lip synching, and putting Vitas down. Vitas fans and Dimash fans skirmishes over lip synching, instead of just enjoying both Singers. Dimash even asked fans not to get involved. I haven't seen any "lip synch" comments in a couple of years. So, surprised if this has been mentioned again. 😔

p.s. when one is singing live, there is the beginning of sound production evident by a very fractional but noticeable start of movement with the lips first. When one is LS, the movement "matches", which is not what happens in reality. Further you can see a difference in the energetic engagement of the body in terms of diaphragm, chest, neck, and over all movement coordinated in the production of sound. All that is missing when one is just LS'ing. In this performance, all of the coordinated engagement of live singing is present. .

He is definitely NOT lip syncing, and most of his performances are 10 0 percent live stage performances. He is the real deal. Watch more and you will see yourself. Dimash has never lipsynced, its just how opera singers move their mouth to get the ranges and notes that he does. Which is the same with all Opera singers do.

To add to what others have said about Dimash sometimes lip syncing (to protect his voice, for example) or being required to lip sync (e.g. possibly Kremlin performances), many fans have posted fan cam recordings they've taken at various performances, and you can tell that he is not lip syncing--the way he phrases something or changes it up so it seems different from other versions, and so on.

So many singers out there are fake and especially with Dimash everything is picked apart. It's like an addiction to find the bad in the good. Dimash also makes mistakes in performances and that's human. He never claimed to be perfect. Let some love his art and let others hear something else. - There are shots of front-row fans showing Dimash's neck during this performance. It is clearly visible how his Adam's apple is pulled in while singing.

BRAZIL - Dimash is the best male vocalist today, of the century, he has a vocal range such as Bass-Baritone, Tenor, Soprano and other techniques, emotion, stage presence, magnificent interpretations and live is even better. I know his ability and talent, so lip sync, playback, pre-recorded, I don't care, he does 3-4 hour shows, it's exhausting, even if it's TV performance, he can afford to rest your golden vocal cords.

SOS, is a song from Starmania, a Canadian-French cyberpunk rock opera written in 1976. This is a song about depression & thoughts of suicide. Enjoy the journey, you've only just begun. .
NOTICE: This was an open competition of a huge vocal contest, it was not televison.

S.O.S. of a Soul in Distress
Why do I live, why do I die?
Why do I laugh, why do I cry?
Here is the SOS of a man in distress

I've never had both feet upon the ground
    I'd rather be a bird
I don't fit into this skin
I'd like to see the world turned upside down
    If ever it were beautiful
It's lovelier from above, from above
    I've always confused life
    with the comic strips
    Even wished I could transform
    I feel something
    That draws me
    That draws me
    That draws me up

Into the great lotto of the universe
I don't have the right numbers
I don't fit into this skin
    I don't want to be a robot
    Eating, working, sleeping

Why do I live, why do I die
Why do I live, why do I cry
    I think I'm catching waves
    From another world
I've never had both feet upon the ground
    I'd rather be a bird
I'd like to see the world turned upside down
    I'd rather be a bird
    Sleep, child, sleep

I'm not too familiar with Dimash but having worked in TV I can say that it's not always up to the musician to perform live. So even if he did lipsync in some performances it might not have been his choice. In addition to that he should take care of his vocal chords so if he chooses to lipsync during _certain_ songs while doing a full live show that is perfectly alright and probably even sensible. I don't think he does it all the time though. He seems to be using autocorrect on specific notes though which I think is completely unnecessary (obviously not to correct his pitch but to make the note sound more clean and even which makes it sound otherworldly and inhuman.)
Btw. have you ever listened to Dir en grey or sukekiyo? With their singer Kyo you will find the exact opposite approach ^^'. He became quite famous in the (Asian) metal scene and has influenced a lot of singers who came after him. Dir en grey are more situated in the metal genre (but also produce beautiful ballads) while sukekiyo is more experimental rock and recently even pop-ish. I would highly recommend starting with Dir en grey's "Vinushka" live from ANDROGYNOUS if you haven't heard it yet. The band started their activities in 1997, never had a line-up change or an extended pause (they had to go on hiatus for about 8 months when the singer was suffering from vocal nodule dysphonia though. Which he got under control with medication and training). If you prefer to start with a ballad sukekiyo's "Elisabeth Addict" could be right up your alley.
Here are links to the songs I mentioned:
ruclips.net/video/BVhAVHcu-r0/видео.html (Dir en grey - "Vinushka")
    ruclips.net/video/sBFIUuzGXvc/видео.html (sukekiyo - "Elisabeth Addict")
Have a great day and thank you guys for the work you're putting into making these! I've only subscribed two days ago but I've been really well entertained so far :)
