      @MichaelDustter Michael, the trouble is that with the (easy) availability of information and purported 'advice' (which is often indistinguishable from latest trends) ; critical thinking has been binned. Now critical thinking (which came from the need to distill insight from available meagre information) is simply not needed, as people blindly trust what they are told, and companies like Micro$hit hog media and scream from the top of the lungs that Micro$hit Win(x) is the best thing that came on earth since prophets started coming out of the middle east. What makes Windows 11 bad is that Microsoft took away most of our choices (such as the taskbar properties or start menu). Then they decided to rearrange things and not allow us to (natively) choose how we want them (such as the context menus). If an OS is any good it would have good user customization built in. Preventing users from customising the OS is very bad. Either they are worried the OS security could be easily compromised due to poor design and programming knowledge or they are too lazy to bring out an OS that Window's users deserve and need !

      For the most part people do not want to do it their self. The tools do it are as simple as typing in one command to pull up group policy or going through the settings menu. The majority does not want to and thinks messing with group policy will brick their system since it can turn on and off stuff they do not understand. Thankfully you cannot brick your system with it you just can turn off stuff you might want turned on is all.
      You have to think what will the user who wants the UI of windows 10 back but doesn't want to learn the how so uses another program to make it happen.

    • @MarkFitzgerald2014
      @MarkFitzgerald2014 Месяц назад

      @@yumri4 I understand this, I have dealt with lots of new Windows users that are scared to death to mess with any windows settings in fear of causing damage or losing pictures and data etc. Microsoft should also know this as they have been attempting to create OS's for over 35 years. A pity they do not listen to the users of their products. If you look back in history MS had some great OS's back in the day with 80% of computer users using MDOS and Windows XP. Unfortunately now they have less than 48% on Windows 10 and about 22% on Windows 11. It is now dropping for both of them. If most of you're customers tell you they do not like the new OS you do not try and force it on them, that makes it worse for yourself. When it comes to OS's you're customers know what they want, more than you do. The sales tell you after 3 years. Windows 11 is more bloated not just adware and spyware built in, but it is built on previous versions of windows, just painted over and slight changes here and there to make it look new. that why 3rd part app developers are able to create apps to change the way it looks.

If you don't roll back by then, windows will automatically delete your previous install (Ie the windows.old folder) and the option will then be greyed out. I wonder if they're trying to force users to use these built-in apps or get annoyed? And I cannot seem to find a way to disable the pop-up for some reason. All articles I'm finding only tells me how to disable the app itself.

    Microsoft needs to STOP changing the User Interface! That's where most of my complaints come from. STOP changing settings that I set to something other than default when updates are installed. Bring back the Win10 right-click panel so that I don't have to click multiple times to get to the Refresh function after I copy-paste or move a file from one directory to another directory - since Windows 10 and 11 don't automatically refresh the target directory consistently. Make it EASY to undo Windows Defender's file quarantine/deletions when it makes a false positive identification. Etc., etc., etc...

    0:34 _but that doesn't make it necessarily a bad operating system_ um yes it is a terrible operating system, as you just mentioned you before this line you said there are a lot of ads and a lot of settings you have to turn off. This is NOT an ideal operating system, especially if you have paid for it. Windows 95 all the way to Windows 7 felt like a simple operating system, you didn't get pop ups (all though Windows 7 eventually did for migration to Windows 10), the previous operting systems didn't force you to do a lot of changes or force you into a microsoft account, it was just a simple operating system that allowed you to get your work done.
    Windows 10 and onwards is just so bloated (yes its very bad on crappy hardware and even on virtualbox compared to Windows 7) and so much annoying popups. I remember once I was watching something and a popup came up to update your computer and I pressed escape and it forced an update within few minutes, closing all of my stuff. Continously I would get notifications to "sign in to microsoft" crap, or when you start your PC it will "remind you" to sign in with a microsoft account in full screen and they would have a tiny button that says "remind me in 3 days".
    Also when you are installing either Windows 10 or 11, for privacy questions you can either select to send additional information or basic information to microsoft, is there an option to send 'NO DATA'? It goes to show you how little control you have over the operating system.
    Windows 11 also has such obnoxious hardware requirements, you have to have tpm2 and other stuff otherwise your computer belongs in landfill after windows 10 goes away.
    I have moved to EndeavourOS (arch linux) using xfce. It is so much better, it feels like Windows XP except with more modern look and feel. It is simple, it doesn't have popups and I can just use the damn thing without problems like Windows 10/11.

    The answer is obvious; switch to Linux. Microsoft's anti-consumer behavior, as expressed in Windows 11, is predicated on the belief that Windows is the "only game in town" where non-Apple computers are involved; but that simply isn't the case. Yes, there are some use-cases where Windows is the better option -- gaming, for example. So by all means, set up a small form factor PC with Windows and treat it like a gaming console. But for general usage, GNU+Linux is quickly becoming the obviously superior choice.

People just don't see it being better than 10 in a significant way and all they hear is more stuff they don't like. The forcing of features, the bending over backwards to undo the changes they've made. I was all eager to upgrade but after all this time I still haven't upgraded and really don't want to. I might be forced at some point but only if I literally have to. The forced updates that break stuff or the infrequent annual updates....again a lot of what I'm saying my be out of date but first impressions and all that. If I prefer w10 over 11 I'm more inclined to avoid w11 and see if 12 is any better or if not at least jump a generation so I don't have to suffer twice.

      If it is indeed possible to get w11 super close to w10, then I'd love to have a video that literally goes step by step and does a checklist. With so many videos and time having past, it's a messy business to search the internet to find what settings to change and how, assuming it's all up to date- I often find when I need to look up a procedure and find that what I see in the process isn't what I see because it's so old.

    OS that requires a hack in order to be usable is just bad. Contrast that to Linux where you could build from the ground up to be whatever you want.
