Me to bro, so many friends lost. I remember making so many good friends on halo reach late at night. Now it's rare to hear someone with a mic that dosen't have Mexican mom in the background with the fan going. God I miss those good old days... it kinda makes me wish I would have stayed with xbox and transferred my account. But it's gone now. So many memories gone....
The main problem with the old Call of Duties is matchmaking is very broken. However the newer ones (like BO2 and BO3) tend to consistently have 1 to 2 thousand players online, because they aren't affected by the matchmaking issues. There is a campaign on Twitter rn to get the matchmaking fixed
Good video, there are still plenty of people who still play 360 games online. It's just about the time and game. Few things though is that you caught Assassins Creed Revelations on a bad day I believe. There is still a small community that plays and for GRAW1, the reason you got persons was because there is an achievement to be #1 in the world and people still play to get that achievement
I play lots of PS3 games online and this list is actually pretty similar for games that are also on there. Though that just makes me even sadder that there's no BC for PS3, it means those playerbases would be even bigger than they surprisingly are now.
We do game nights for a lot of dead Xbox 360 games in the "Xbox Kai Fam" Discord. You actually caught us at the start of our Rainbow Six Vegas game night. We were trying to invite everyone in the Discord into the match but we were having connection issues, hence why we didn't start it while you were in the lobby. We've also done Perfect Dark Zero and The Outfit game nights this year.
Awesome video bro as a pc player myself my old xbx360 is still my media device in my living room and from time to time i kick back on the couch and play a couple of these games. Couple other games that are still playable are the borderlands series, destiny, black ops 2, gta 5(announced online to be shut down this year in dec) and all the Halo games(also announced to be shutdown this year in dec) I like to play these older 360 games as a feeling of nostilga and the ability to still play them while we can. Reminds me of the last noble 16 players from halo 2 on the original xbox when xbox live was shutdown.
I remember when Lost Planet was the main title to play online on your 360. Until gears were released. Wolfenstein 09 had 2 really good maps, which generated an active community for about 7 months.
It's hilarious to me that the first game you found people in was Marvel vs Capcom 2 which you can't even buy anymore. Everything else is still purchasable either through the 360 store or getting a disc through Amazon or something. Then again, I was literally playing Marvel 2 online last night on my 360.
Amazing video also would like to say Mass Effect 3 MP is playable would like more players on that gem of a game as we close in on all the servers going off.
There's a lot of discord channels for certain niche xbox live games. I think they arrange games there at a certain time to play together. So some of these might not be dead per say.
@@730indoorsman Well I'm interested in two games that no one cares about anymore that have discord channels. They're Lost planet 1, 2 and Condemned 2. There's probably more out there. I wouldn't mind one for that xbox game called "The outfit" as well. Was almost impossible to find a game for that one back in the day but it was a lot of fun.
Marvel vs Capcom 2 is one of those games were if you don't have those Arcade Boards, then you will most likely find someone to play on this game thru Xbox Live.. Sadly it's not Backwards Compatible either so there will be a community still for this game..
Some giant influencers need to start a movement to get everyone to go back to 360 and spike the player counts. Especially since current gen is still somewhat hard to get.
@@730indoorsman it’s actually bring tears to my eyes I never was able to play online at the time my parents had gotten my 360 for me we weren’t doing as great as we were today this was years and years ago and it was second hand and didn’t have the wifi thing idk of it came in box but mine didn’t so I didn’t get to play online so itd be insane to be able to play in an online where you don’t have to wait minutes to find a game on 360
Haha yea that wifi things sucked. It didn't come with the 360 and it cost like an extra $60. I'm sure there's some small communities for 360 games that organize certain times to play through discord that you can try, then you won't have to wait to find players.
This was pretty sick video love seeing content like this. Honestly wasn't surprised at all about MvC2 getting a match so fast. Wish you could have checked out some of the old Halo games with MCC being out and other CoD's like WaW etc.

This was a major trip down memory and nostalgia lane...Xbox 360 was my "gaming prime" years, I lived and breathed Battlefield 3 in its heyday and was top % world medic, MVP, winning percentage, and among the top in several weapons and other categories and was one of the first LVL 100's I ever saw, there weren't many back then. Nothing else in gaming has ever quite measured up to 2011 when BF3 came out, then Skyrim shortly after...it was truly a magical time. Gaming doesn't feel like it has the same luster anymore, I don't really like the way the gaming industry went with all the loot boxes, microtrans, season pass/battlepass, and being so buggy the consumers feel like unpaid beta testers...feels like pure greed now and all the passion is gone. Maybe it's just me getting older, I'm 31 now and was a kid when the 360 came out, it took me a few years to save up for it, grew up extremely poor...I got my 360 the night Gears of War 2 came out, and was absolutely blown away by it and the graphics even playing on a very small CRT tv lol. I got my first HDTV in ~May 2009 that was actually 1440x900 resolution, was the cheapest HDTV at walmart that had HDMI, was a ~19inch Polaroid tv that later lived on as a 2nd pc monitor and died around ~2015 lol. I remember being BLOWN AWAY by how nice Resident Evil 5 looked on the HDTV. Prior, I had games looking not too shabby on my small CRT tv by using this weird adapter box that could do composite or S-Video, so I did S-Video. My tv hardware was only Coax with no composite, but the S-Video adapter cleaned up the image considerably. Halo series, Battlefield, COD, Resident Evil, Elder Scrolls, UFC, GTA, RDR, Gears of War, Borderlands, and others I'm forgetting off the top of my head were mindblowing AAA games to me back then. It took me awhile to save up for each game, on top of growing up very poor, the great recession hit my small country town hard. It was literally like pulling teeth just trying to find a min.wage job here back then. I later went PC gaming in late 2012, although I keep consoles around as well still. I went through three 360's, the brand new one I bought with GoW2 had a faulty disc drive, they gave me a used 2007 Falcon model which lasted until ~March 2010 with a RROD, then in ~May I got a Jasper 120gb black elite I still have to this day. I remember not having the money for the expensive MS brand wireless adapter so at my new apt at the time in the BF3 heyday I did a bridged connection with my sucky old school laptop, it honestly was very smooth and I never had any perceivable lag. Maybe it worked so well since I was near the router, just above it upstairs. I got a Series X last year with one of the stimulus checks, although I feel bad hardly ever playing it...maybe I need to find some stuff on gamepass to sink my teeth into. I may hold onto the Series X indefinitely, it can play thousands of games since it's backwards compatible even with OG Xbox. Edit- how could I forget being scared beyond belief playing Dead Space for the first time...ahhh lol
Thanks for sharing this, man. It was similar for me too. For me it was more like 2009-2011 - Bad Company 2, CoD4 5 and Mw2, Borderlands... some real great memories. Got into PC around BF3 and PC is great but nothing will compare to those 360 days. I think mainstream gaming really died in the early 2010s.
I wish there was still a whole community who actually play on the 360 vs just backwards compatibility I would love to here the crappy mics and sound of people joining a party. Nothing will ever beat the mw2-BO2 era on the 360.
Yeah Crysis 2 has been dead for years at this point, but Crysis 3 isn’t! I’m not sure how you ended up in the Deathmatch playlist instead of TDM where everyone usually gathers, but I totally understand how you weren’t able to find a match. I think this has been one of the worst months for matchmaking in a while. I still managed to find games because I’m part of the small community and we all invite each other, but it’s certainly not easy if you miss one of us waiting in the lobby. Anyway, Dirt 3 still has a tiny active playerbase too, and usually in Battlestations Pacific you can find a match after waiting less than an hour as it only takes 1 other person to start. Nice video!
I'll have to try Crysis 3 again one day. It was pretty fun even in private match! Battlestations Pacific is another game I really want to try out while it's still possible. Might have to include that one in a follow up video.
Played Red Dead Redemption it has a lot of players but you gotta play at certain time same thing with MW3, Halo 3 is just dead or it won’t connect to a server
Man naughty bear good times I remember when my little cousin was like two years old and we put them in front of the TV playing naughty bear and he just be standing there clueless and then those affect where the bear goes boo super loud but we turn the TV to 100 so It would scare the shit out of him😭
Great video, Indoorsman!!! Very detailed-oriented and thorough game analysis. Marvel vs Capcom 2 interested me the most for XBox 360 since that game is hard to get or pretty expensive to purchase online. I'm considering an online XBox 360 subscription just so I can have access to this game. Miss being able to use Psylocke and Cyclops as a team.
i was already a bit late to the party when i got a 360 but i remember the small and solid playerbase the original titanfall had every time i fired it up through the years and was by far my favourite game, it got to the point where it would be unusual to not recognize gamertags in the lobby. i dusted off my console last winter for a nostalgia trip only to find the servers finally empty in all nations. im just glad i got to experience an incredibly uniqe yet universal medium with so many people.
My own first console was a xbox 360 when I was like 7 in 2012. I used to play on my older brothers xbox & ps3 too. But The xbox 360 was MY OWN... and I just found it a few weeks ago and its weird because the xbox was released the year I was born 2005 and im going to be 17 in a few months lol. Anyways, I remember playing skate 2, Mw2, the amazing spiderman, minecraft, etc on it. I just found it and all of my games I had with it so hopefully it still works. I just recently bought Skyrims anniversery edition for my ps4, and I still have skyim for my xbox 360. Cant wait to play it after all this time and see how it compares to the anniversary edition on the ps4.
Damn man, seeing CoD3 dead is a bit tough on me. It was my only favorite multiplayer game and I found myself obsessively getting in vehicles and that's when I made the obvious leap to the BF franchise. Some of my best moments were on the Poisson map, playing in the tanks was just so much fun.
I thought i could bring back my childhood by playing the 360 online recently. Played waw to odst. To new company2 to even call of duty 3.... im very saddened. And when i did play a match on halo 3. It didnt feel the same. I was lost in words and didnt feel as fun as i once had. There was something i remembered when i had this console brand new in 2006 which made my eyes cry out in cheers and joy. But its not the same and so i turned off gold subscription
I think that is part of getting older. It becomes a little more difficult to get that excited about games. This is something I went through. I had to get right with the fact that it just wasn't the same anymore. Also, they just keep releasing the same game over and over and now I've seen all games have to offer... that is an issue too. You can still play and have fun though.
I remember homefront game was massive multiplayer on Xbox 360 multiplayer on,one back in 2011,2012 that me and my friend play together multiplayer with tanks and helicopters for kill strikes cuz it’s copy from call of duty kill strikes to unlock special guns or equipment
During the two lock downs I went online 360 everyday was loving it everyone came back to the 360 thank you covid. Main game where destiny, mw2, cod, battlefield 3-4 and world of tanks all the halos people went on. sold my 360 last year now I only have my GameCube and 3ds but I just got a gaming laptop Hp omen 17-ck0501na 17" Gaming Laptop - Intel® Core™ i7, RTX 3060, 1 TB SSD. 16 gb ram. So more consider getting Xbox pc game pass so I can skip buying an Xbox series x altogether now maybe.
Im glad battlefield 1943 is still online and players on, did you always get a decent amount of players? unfortunately I lost my old profile with all the achievements unlocked so now im planning to get it again and get the achievements again
Black ops 1 there are definitely people still playing. Waiting for a tdm lobby is hit or miss. You would have to go leaderboards and find someone with a at least over 1k kills for the week, go to their player card and either join on them or go through their friendlists. Once you make enough friends on the game you can reliably find a lobby anytime of day. Interestingly most of the US is in Core Tdm while mostly EU players you can find in Hardcore Tdm. 1 out of 10-15 matches you may find someone cheating but overall its very playable.
Okay here's an idea. On Xbox live you can join a roulette queue for a game type of your choice: racing, FPS, fighting game, whatever. Then Xbox live randomly picks a game from a list of approved games (like some of these dead games) and streams it to you and you play one level)course and then jump back into the queue again and okay something else.
There are people playing cod 3. I friended people who are in full lobbies every night. The xbox one backwards compatible update for this game destroyed matchmaking and filled the server list with ghost lobbies you can't join.
we all have to switch to another console if we don't then there won't be players playing the multiplayer games theres some but it will take a long time of finding a player i switch from xbox 360 to xbox one
Hey wonderful video by the way I got a question I bought GRFS on Xbox one and I been looking for matches and wasn't able to find one did they close the server ..??
Still cant play backwards compatible games on xbox series x because of a hardware bug were it wont download my 360 profile (saying I don't have have xbox live)(and yes I have tried everything that I could to fix the issue, nothing seems to work)and as I am aware Microsoft knows of the issue, but nothing seems to have been addressed recently,so I give up.
@@730indoorsman the person who I got was very helpful, but the issue I have may just be a hardware issue rather then software. Anyways thanks for replying to my comment
Great video. I always get mad and nostalgic when I think about how long people played PS3 and 360 and no good game died in that generations till years later. Nowadays people jump to the next hype train, at least on PC, and games just die when it is no indie game or special one. COD should be mostly dead except WAW and BO1 maybe. WAW lost all hardcore servers which is just sad. BF3 and BF4 should still have a player base which is nice. About the indies: Payday 2, Deep Rock Galactic and co. Squad and Arma3 do have players but the rest is like "singleplayers" or a handful of Coop games but no "I found friends on Live when playing Dead Island" or similar. I find it sad how much gaming shifted. Some 10yo even have 300€ microphone arms with some highend mic and mixer just to play COD which makes me sad and humble that I got a lot of things too but can also enjoy playing on an old CRT playing just PS2. I miss the get one game and play it 300h. Nowadays I have too many potential PC games (due to the digital nature I get lost) and on the other hand I can name all PS1-3 games I own plus Xbox games with only 10 percent I do not know or discard for just being bad games which I thought were cool but aint my type like all James Bond games.

Blur is still alive for anyone wondering, the player count broke years ago. Find ppl in skirmish evening times etc.
Played Red Dead Redemption it has a lot of players but you gotta play at certain time same thing with MW3, Halo 3 is just dead or it won’t connect to a server
Hey so red deaf redemption has a lot of players online on the xbox 360
@@Jorcx yeah at 7-8 EST ah man that’s a lot
halo 3 has players mostly in the evening EST
Can't wait for the sequel to this video
i was already a bit late to the party when i got a 360 but i remember the small and solid playerbase the original titanfall had every time i fired it up through the years and was by far my favourite game, it got to the point where it would be unusual to not recognize gamertags in the lobby. i dusted off my console last winter for a nostalgia trip only to find the servers finally empty in all nations. im just glad i got to experience an incredibly uniqe yet universal medium with so many people.
Can we be friends?
Thank you for this video g
Left 4 dead 2 is very active
That's kinda sad that the games we grew up with slowly die...
I still play a lot of 360 online if I can looking for players in binary domain, spec ops, syndicate, fuse etc
Im too

xHalo3GameFuelx is my gtag. I’d get on my 360 more if I had people to play with lmao
I really, really enjoyed Bioshock 2's multi-player, even though I played on ps3 because it was free to do so.
I wish I can give you 2 thumbs up for 1 video. That took a lot of time.
You can still play and have fun though.
i’m looking for a group of zombie players to put back together i just got blops 1 and 2 and i play all the maps on 2 and pretty much only kino on one
Nice Video
Im glad battlefield 1943 is still online and players on, did you always get a decent amount of players? unfortunately I lost my old profile with all the achievements unlocked so now im planning to get it again and get the achievements again
I played on two separate days and both times I was able to play multiple full matches. Still tons a fun!
@@730indoorsman Thanks, played yesterday was able to find matches and was fun!
I have the demo version and I can't find any players. Does It have something to do with region?
@@thechosenv12 Cuz it's a demo You need to get the Full game to play.
@@soulextract640 I thought It would work because there's only Multiplayer mode in demo and tutorial. It's hard to find players in BF BC 2 too
Fun video bro
Blur was probably was on digital download for about a week during the consoles hay day but was taken out if memory serves me right
Black ops 1 there are definitely people still playing.
"Better do my best"
falls gently
I really miss the old days playing black ops with my homies that was the game man
There's still some people on F.E.A.R and gears 1, use the custom search game instead of quick play
Okay here's an idea. On Xbox live you can join a roulette queue for a game type of your choice: racing, FPS, fighting game, whatever. Then Xbox live randomly picks a game from a list of approved games (like some of these dead games) and streams it to you and you play one level)course and then jump back into the queue again and okay something else.
i think ps3 versions of cod have more players as you only need an internet connection to play them and you dont need to pay to play online unlike xbox
I would imagine the COD player count numbers are made up.
Yes black ops 3 has so many people
Cod ghosts only has 40-100 people on 360
@@AaBoyGaming on 360 cod bo3 has over 1k tho and same with bo2 and bo1 i find full lobbies all the time
@@AaBoyGaming sep 2021 , and cod ghosts on the weekend has 1k
Is there a certain time people play cause everytime I try to find a match on most of these games I can't find one?

There are people playing cod 3. I friended people who are in full lobbies every night. The xbox one backwards compatible update for this game destroyed matchmaking and filled the server list with ghost lobbies you can't join.
The reason they play the original GRAW is probably beacuse the world champion achivement.

Xbox One and Series X for the backwards compatible and Game Pass titles, 360 S for everything else obviously.
Do you need Xbox live still to play online

yess someone made a video of this

Fun fact in 2023 cod 2 still has a decent player base
Could you test Titan Fall on xbox 360?
I'm about cop a 360. Are the servers and matchmaking ok for call of duty? MW1/2/3 bo1/2 etc....
Do you need to have Xbox live gold account to play online multiplayer games? Or are these free,no fees?
What about Shadow the Hedgehog ?
Hey wonderful video by the way I got a question
I bought GRFS on Xbox one and I been looking for matches and wasn't able to find one did they close the server ..??
Still cant play backwards compatible games on xbox series x because of a hardware bug were it wont download my 360 profile (saying I don't have have xbox live)(and yes I have tried everything that I could to fix the issue, nothing seems to work)and as I am aware Microsoft knows of the issue, but nothing seems to have been addressed recently,so I give up.
That sucks, dude. Microsoft support couldn't help at all?
