Miami is a huge melting pot full of many different cultures. LOTS of Colombians, Cubans, Black, White, German and Portuguese. They all have a HUGE influence on the local music industry and have created one of the best music scenes in the world. With one of the most rhythmic and multidimensional sounds ever created! If they love you, you didn't come by it honestly because you inherited the talent and had the money to pursue fame...but of course, look who her mother is. If they hate you, despite your heritage, ancestry, genes, learned skills...but of course, look who her mother is...and you can't hold a candle to her talent. Anyhow, Emily Estefan has had the best musical education money can buy, talented parents, a sound studio at her fingertips, likely the best musicians at her disposal, and last but not least, never has to work a day in her life, unless she wants to. I like her. I like that she tries to musically set herself apart despite her parents' talents and wealth. I'd like to see more from her. You cannot deny her musical skills. The voice is a little different than her mom's, a lower register and she likes it "bluesy" but hey, you just never know because....but of course, look who her mother is.
Also she doesn't have to work as hard as Emilio and Gloria did back in the day. I'm sure they were playing close to 300 shows a year. Emily can get away with a handful of shows a year. Emily does want to be famous.
She definitely took advantage of whatever the musical education her own parents probably taught her and also other teachers and great schools. You can tell she did and keeps doing her homework, she practices her various crafts with discipline be it singing, playing the guitar, or doing the percussion thing. Best wishes for her.
