@@SBFishing I heard the comment one of the guys who was staying with you made about his boater not giving him any room to cast. I think that is unfair and you should approach it like a team. We will get you down to Tennessee to do some fishing once everything blows over.
Ive really been feeling lately like most of the fishing RUclipsr content I watch has been feeling quite stale, but not ol SBFISHING. Can always rely on you for fun, excitement, and genuinely good vibes
By far my favorite RUclips channel to watch. Love what you do and wish you all the best. Thank you for the pure/true content and awesome adventures. Can’t wait to watch the next videos!
I've been fishing BFL events as a coangler since 2012 and I absolutely love it. Smith Mountain definitely had my number the two times I fished it but I've fished almost 50 events as a co, and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon. You'll meet some of the nicest guys you'll ever fish with, as well as some of the most knowledgeable, fishing these events, and almost all of my tournament days in this circuit have been days well spent. Keep at it Matt, and I'd definitely recommend fishing the James River and Potomac River events if you can fit them into your schedule
This was great info. I’ve always been reluctant to fish as a coangler in a tournament for a number of reasons. I think I might have to give it a shot after seeing this. Your boater seemed pretty cool and you both seemed to communicate with each other well. Very informative!
i love smith mountain. went there last may. i got a 7lb largie and a striper around 13-15lbs slow rolling a jointed thunderstick on top close to the banks at night during the shad spawn. so much fun!
Thanks for the reply. Most guys I've known who fished co angler were seriously back boated - blocked from all the good stuff. Some so bad that they swore never to go again. Others found ways to fish deep and do well. You had a very generous and friendly boater. Nice bass by the way 5+ lbs!
Thanks for the vid man, I'm also fishing my first BFL as a co angler at Smith mountain next month. And I'm so jacked about it!! Ima be vlogging it too!! Hope I can get on em and make something happen. But all in all just am excited to get the experience
Nice fish Matt. SML is a tough fishery if you aren't familiar with it. I had a VA MR Bass tx there years ago as a co-angler. Had one bite all day and I thought I had the lunker. I'm screaming get the net, get the net! When I got him up from under the boat it was a 10+ lb flathead. There were a couple guys catfishing right near us. They asked if I would give them the fish if I wasn't going to keep it. It went from my net to his net. Atleast someone went home happy. LOL
@SBFISHINGTV been loving the podcasts! And looking forward to this video! I fished smith mountain Saturday for fun and managed to get a few I the boat with yalls help
great place to fish I went there for the first time last year and my 3rd fish was almost a 5 pounder and caught a bunch of 2 and 3 plus as well as an 8 pound carp had a blast fishing there! and I was fishing out of a kayak as well so was a great time!
One giant just need a couple of keepers with it. I love tournament videos looking forward fountainhead tournament video. Canceling these tournaments are killing me lately
Good job man. You had a cool boater. I've fished a couple bass opens on Kentucky Lake and I had some great boaters. My buddy got a boater like your one buddy had. Said he kept him backed up into the big barge tie ups and he couldn't even cast. But my buddy got him good. He dropped straight down with a 1 oz jig and caught 3 fish over 3 lbs before his boater could figure out how and where he was catching them!! My buddy had 14 or 15 lbs that day and his boater had like 5 or 6 lbs. Sorry this was so long. But how did you like the Stick Marsh?? It's my favorite lake followed by Toho. Stay safe and good luck in your jonboat tourney. Tight Lines and Semper Fi.
SB you gotta tell us where your heading that's home town lake would have loved to meet ya keep up the good work theres other lakes some what around the area to check out, philpott, claytor, carvins cove, moo maw
My cousin was at smith mountain a couple weeks ago for the youth tournament that got canceled. They still went fishing anyway but it looks like y'all had better luck.
I was catching them with a lot of yellow in the last few days. Googan 3-6ft square bill red/yellow (slow). Chartreuse/yellow war eagle spinner (slow). Bluegill jigs (large arc with pause)
Hey Matt, really enjoy your videos. I’ve recently retired and am fishing more and want to try some new techniques. You seem to do well with many different things. What was the water temp at SML? What knot do you use to tie your leader to braid? And what was that laminate color you were using on the Ned rig?
You caught five fish. You should kill every last one of those fish. I guess it's a learning experience. But I think you've done a very very good job. Keep up the good work. Great video. Nice keep the movement going. You are a inspiration and you inspire me so do Tournament Fishing also. So again thank you for the video thank you for tell me the tournament you always film turning its that you be in but again I think you would have had more than 5 one if you would have kept those little dinks they would have been one too but it would have add it up. You're the man.
I think the dinks were under the keeper length, so they had to be thrown back. Just curious, why do you recommend that he “kilevery last one of those fish”
Looks like you had a good boater. I don't get guys who pinch their CA's. True a-holes IYAM! They could double their bag chances, but they run the boat so they wear the S. Go figure.
I'm going to make the 8 hour drive down to Smith mountain on 4-20 any pointers on where to start looking? I've never been there before and could you some help from you or anyone who fishes there. Maybe meet up with you or someone else?
No Smallmouth? My first nice Smallmouth came from there in 79 i was 14 and on a family vacation fish weighed 4.78 started my Smallmouth addiction and was my pb for 10yrs.
I am thinking about fishing these in the future but wasn’t sure how the registration works. Do you have to sign up with a boater or do you sign up individual as a co-angler?
What a crap thing to do. “Co-Anglers hate me” such a stupid thing especially when everyone has their hard earned money on the line. Glad you got a good boater brother. Makes fishing back of the boat pretty enjoyable!
Matt you're a better man than me when that guy asked if you were on RUclips and then you shook his hand you really were going all out for every subscriber But any one would have understood if you said Hey sorry social spacing
Nice work @sbfishingtv. Could not have asked for a better co angler to fish with all day.
Chris! Thanks for checking out the video and thanks again for being an awesome boater. I look forward to fishing again!

The quarantine content we needed.
Tryin my best to keep it rollin! The fish aren’t cooperating
Hey Matt, nice to meet you in line. Offer still stands, headed to Briery this morning... anytime Brother!!!
What a great boater! Guy definitely seems to be new to the boater scene and overly nice, which is a good thing for you!
Translation- take advanatge

Pretty insightful. I've been thinking about joining a local BASS club as a Co-Angler. Learned a lot watching this... Great Video Man!!
It’s super entertaining to see you fish these bigger tournaments... awesome you’ll slay em next time

Awesome bro. That looked like a lotta fun. I wanna try some tourney fishing in Kentucky when I move this fall. Good luck you this season!!
Nice brotha, gonna be wild now to fish with others here in South Texas, tight lines nice stay safe out there

Getting me through quarantine, but making me want to fish, screw it, i'm taking the boat out tomorrow.
While your in Va gocheck out lake moomaw you won’t be disappointed gotta be the prettiest lake in Va and has good fishing too
I’ve always heard good things about moomaw
I fished moomaw so much last year.
I had high hopes after that first keeper! Better luck next tourney!
Cool video man. Your boater seemed super cool.

Man you had a great boater!
Way to go bud! Carried the boat
Only fished SML once, and didn’t do too well. It was an amazing lake, but it loves to take your lures!

My cousin was at smith mountain a couple weeks ago for the youth tournament that got canceled. They still went fishing anyway but it looks like y'all had better luck.

Do some more BFL tournament please!

We should link up when you come to NC and fish harris again.
Were you using an external mic on the GoPro? If so what do you use?
nooooo, you were at smith mountain and I didnt know? man I live 20 minutes down the road. got a collegiate tournament down there in mid april.
Matt: Did you see that Musky Insider email I forwarded to you earlier today? Your picture with the muskie you caught with Sam was featured in it.
That was a nice bass, Matt. You carried your weight in the tourney.

I'm going to make the 8 hour drive down to Smith mountain on 4-20 any pointers on where to start looking? I've never been there before and could you some help from you or anyone who fishes there. Maybe meet up with you or someone else?
he really made you fish the back with all that deck space
A co angler cannot get on the front deck to fish in an FLW event
No Smallmouth? My first nice Smallmouth came from there in 79 i was 14 and on a family vacation fish weighed 4.78 started my Smallmouth addiction and was my pb for 10yrs.
Appreciate the content!
Great video man 👊🏼👊🏼
Thanks dude 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Black Water side got some BIGS on SML
Good job bro
Nice tournament bro
Great Video
Well young man I would still wear a air mask I did out at lake Charles AR. Over the last Saturday better safe than sorry GOD bless stay groovy....
I thought I saw the SB Van down there.
Good video, your boater seemed like a good guy.
He was a GREAT guy. Awesome fisherman too.
"Dumb and Dumber" in the background at the end 👌
I am thinking about fishing these in the future but wasn’t sure how the registration works. Do you have to sign up with a boater or do you sign up individual as a co-angler?
Stratosbassin282 you can do either. I usually just sign up by myself & pay way ahead of time so I get in
What a crap thing to do. “Co-Anglers hate me” such a stupid thing especially when everyone has their hard earned money on the line.
Glad you got a good boater brother. Makes fishing back of the boat pretty enjoyable!
Rare to draw a boater than nice u got lucky bro
Come on down to South holston lake. Or watauga lake.
How heavy of a shaky head was that you were using?
1/4 oz from shopkarls! shopkarls.com/heavy-metal-tungsten-stand-up-shakey-head-jig one of my favorites
Matt you're a better man than me when that guy asked if you were on RUclips and then you shook his hand you really were going all out for every subscriber But any one would have understood if you said Hey sorry social spacing
