Love your attitude. To answer your question, when going steady in high school, we used to exchange school rings. Well my wife, then gf kept breaking up which meant giving back the rings. This happened at least 6 times, the last time when she gave me back my ring (gold) I tossed it into a park across from her house, very angry. I never did find that ring and wish I had just let that time of month pass.

I have absolutely been in a situation this. I was dealing with a divorce when this song came out, and it was one of the few things besides My Give A Damn’s Busted by Jo Dee Messina (which I highly recommend if you haven’t already done that) that I could relate to during that time. I was so angry and done with the man that I wanted nothing from that relationship, except my kid. I still love this song :)
The one that got away... is more like the one I let go. My first boyfriend we were together from daycare days to my last year in high school. He became famous in high school and had a bunch of groupies that tried to bully me. Though we attended different high school they would await me at the bus stop and attacked my friends when I wasn't around. He didn't do anything... but they were getting out of hand and I didn't want to deal with his groupies anymore. When I told him it was over we both cried for almost a week. He was getting more and more famous as the captain for our country under 18 professional soccer team. Both our families advice me against it but I never told anyone of the real reason. He still doesn't know the real reason to this very day. He continued with his career and is currently playing in the FIFA. We don't really keep in contact now, he's married with children. But each time we visit our home country it's our duty to spend time with the other family. His parents and siblings still call me their in-law and always say if we ever put behind our stubbornness and meet face to face we'll rekindle. I think that's the reason we refuse to meet in respect for his wife and family. We tend to send our greetings via family.
