I gotta tell ya man, I’m 32 years old and I’ve struggled with addiction and alcoholism my either teenage and adult life. My mom passed in a car accident in 2011 and this song really hits my soul.. I’m 5 years clean and sober now and every time I hear this song it gives me chills.. I truly appreciate the lyrics, it’s a nice reminder. Sometimes we forget where we’ve been in our lives after things have been smooth for so long.

Alcohol had such a hard hold on my life, I never viewed myself as an alcoholic because I would go days in between drinking, until it took over my life and the best thing I done was give it up and give my life to God, it wasn’t easy, and it’s not the road most 25 year olds around me are going down. But the bottle never filled the emptiness that I was desperately looking to fill. I’m so thankful God gave me the strength and came down and saved me from myself. It’s been hard, but almost one year sober ❤💜

ADDICTION is a disease not a choice that any mother or father makes for themselves or the children that have no say so in the matter. We lose control because we have a brain disease that makes the impulse almost impossible to resist. I find it hard to maintain long term recovery if u truly are an addict then I dont see how u stay so sober and clean for several years I have found it impossible using all the proper given tools w the program and treatment goin by the book it fails alot of us
What matters is that we slip and find our way back . It's one day at a time forever

In many ways this song saved me, in my darkest days of addiction and sobriety, I played it in repeat as loud as the speakers could handle, it took a while for me to realize I was crying out to myself and God to help me, and when I realized that everything became clearer , I'm currently almost 4 years sober now, I don't even know if you will see this but I just want to say from my whole heart Thank You!

Im 36 now. Opiates/Heroin took from 20-30 from me, 6 rehabs, $200-$300 a day just to get up. Been sober 6 years. And sh$t its great. But its always that devil u gotta fight on your shoulder. Best thing i did was move away from where i was from. And never want that life. So anyone struggling. It is the worst ever i kno believe me, but if u got fight and some wanna do good in you. Go through it.

I use to be an addict. I have 6 years clean. Its hard to do at first and the first 2 years it is a struggle everyday to stay clean but you can do it. After you hit year 3 you do not even think about it anymore and it is a breeze.

@Kimberly Baldeser keep on keeping on. It is hard sometimes I know. Also congrats on getting clean. Life will be rough sometimes but you just have to push through the rough times. After you get to year 3 it will not even cross your mind even in the hard times. I believe in you but you have to believe in youself too.

I LOVE this song, because it is so true!! addictions are from the devil and Jesus will free you from the devil and his bondage. I lived as a drug addict and alcoholic for 25 years until the chains were broken. My heart was completely broken, and it wasn't until I hit rock bottom that I had to reach up and ask for help. The only way I have made it to here is my belief in Christ, prayer and fasting(fasting drugs and alcohol)..
Now I am 10 months completley sober, and grateful to be alive and not have to live in my addictions anymore. Hallelujah, I am free !!💗

I'm an artist in the rap genre of music but I love country music and honestly this song did help me get sober for over a year. The lyrics alone are just brilliant and you sir are brilliant and if I ever was lucky to work with you in the future, just know that would be an honor
lost my father on the 3rd of Jan, 2023. in hospital and passed in his sleep. little over a year before, i left our small country town for the city, went into a mental health ward for 8 months, then transferred to an alcohol and other drug house for another 6 months. long story short, relapsed pretty hard, ended up on the streets again, but him passing has really pushed me to fix myself, if not for myself for him.

Sobriety is never owned. It's rented and rent is due every day! Going on 4 years sober this august. Couldn't have done it without my mama. Thanks to her she helped save my life and led me to be the best mommy I can be to my little boy.

I really enjoy Jacob's music but this song specifically has helped me to kick my addiction to alcohol. I'm really glad I was introduced to his music. I'm looking forward to hearing more from him.
My son sent this to me and he is an addict. Ever since my dad passed hes been lost my parents were like parents to him and without them he feels lost. I knew when he died my son would lose it but I never knew what it was going to be this bad. He checked out and all we can do is pray that he checks back in before he overdoses and he can't be helped

I just turned 21 and about three years ago I lost my great grandfather at the age of 18 and he would have been 90... I spent the last 2 or 3 months taking care of him and I left for a few days and I get a call from my grandma saying papa is in the hospital and right then I knew it was his time to go... and I had every chance to go see him one last time and I didnt he past away that night.. and then the alcohol took over I have done my best to keep it at bay but the past few months have been the worst... and I feel as if it is my fault bc the last words i told him was I'll see you later.
I failed him as a grandson...and I blame my self everyday for his pasting..

With God all things are possible. Have to walk away from the familiar places and let God get into those places that are hidden. I myself have been sober going 3 months now and I couldn't do it without God. I've had to really dig my heels deep lean on God read my bible and pray . it sometimes can get tough the fight comes on stronger but that tells me I'm doing good and I am to keep it up.. I have no support I don't have nobody behind me rooting me on its Just me n God he's my cheerleader he's my friend he's what is helping me counting my days of progress .. I just found out I'm pregnant with my 2nd child on Monday... The baby is saving my soul. 5 years ago I was looking for someone to save my soul also and found out I was pregnant. After over 4 years sober I fell back to my demons when my house burned.. Its been 3 months since then and now I'm looking forward to my 2nd and making it up to my 1st for falling into it again and not being the best mother I can be for the past couple months. I'm determined to make it this time for both of my babies.

I have a guitar hanging on my dads wall and won't touch it due to my own addiction , by learning that this guy is out their saying everything I ever wanted to say to help others in there dark days brought my mind to think ... seek rehab and do it now ! I am currently in rehab as I type this message . I hear that Voice within me ..., pick up that guitar and step up to the plate..., saving your soul
