- **WARNING: THE ENDING MIGHT SHOCK YOU!!** Metal detecting Berlin, Germany. For the second time I find and throw a WW2 live hand grenade to see if we can get an explosion. More amazing finds in the video too including a live bomb and German pilots insignia. **DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME AND NEVER MESS WITH AMMUNITION OF ANY KIND** All UXOs found were dealt with through the local police off camera and should never be touched if you don't know what you are doing.

I don't know if that "grenade explosion" was real or not but here's something to consider for people who (God knows why) want to just to pull a pin and throw one to see it go boom; hand grenades came in at least two types "offensive" and "defensive" types., A defensive hand grenade was meant to be thrown from a trench or cover, because it had a heavy metal casing and it was designed to throw deadly flying steel fragments farther than you could throw the grenade - that's why someone throwing such a grenade had to be sure they were behind some kind of protection or they'd be likely to be hit by the fragments from their own grenade. That grenade has a metal case grooved to break apart when it goes off so it was probably a defensive hand grenade. But you wern't in a trench or a bunker (I wouldn't care to trust a tree like that) and neither were the camera people. I only mention this because I doubt you know what the killing radius of that grenade might have been, and flying chunks of jagged metal do horrible things to human beings when they hit them. You know. Death. Hideous mutilation. Blinding.
Of course, you didn't really explode a grenade: I just mention this on the off chance some fool finds a live grenade and thinks that he can have some fun with it. (Did I mention that a favorite little trick to do with many hand grenade designs was to open then up and remove the time delay fuse part, effectively turning them into booby traps. Imagine the hilarity when an enemy soldier finds the grenade you've "abandoned" and tries to use it against you - and it goes off in his hand the instant he pulls the pin, blowing his arm off and scattering his brains all over the landscape! Something else to keep in mind, along with the fact that some explosives become unstable and unpredictable with age, etc, etc.)

2:23 it's a "candle". Soldiers used many types of casings. The bigger the better. Usually pinched the wick at the top just enough to be able to adjust it and made one or two holes a bit lower. One hole for hanging another for fuel. Fuel used ranged from engine oil to animal fat from food rations. Used by soldiers from all sides.

What you found at 6:25 is a gas chamber for a gun. It captures the releasing gasses from a fired bulled and it pushes the slide back on the gun to eject the spent bullet casing and chambers a new round.
I dont think so bud.. Give "ww2 trench lighter" a google. you're not far off though because its actually made from a bullet casing.

no it doesnt look similar to what you will see because everything on those results are replicas made in factories and are not made from bullet casings.. the reason it looks different is because what he has dug up is highly likely the real deal. A real trench ligher made by a real solider and made with a bullet casing.
Try typing in "Real WW2 Bullet Lighter" and then you will instantly see some of them are near enough exactly the same. I will put money on that is a Lighter made from a bullet casing
