- Hi guys, today I will be unboxing and reviewing my new laptop for school: the Acer Swift X with a Ryzen 7 5800u and RTX 3050 Ti. For around $1000, this laptop has a lot of value for it given the specs. The laptop is not perfect, but it has many positive aspects. I hope you enjoy the video!

@@nolifezay4636 hows ur experience with this laptoo? How about the heat if you use it for a long time gaming like 3hrs ?and is it dangerous since the heat exhaust looks like shoot the screen
@@monarch2397 been using it for a week, the left side of the keyboard (the one farther from the exhaust) could get a little bit hot, you'll definitely notice it when playing. I use it to play valorant at high setting around 2h, it isnt excessively hot i would say. The exhaust does blow the warm air towards the screen but until now I havent noticed any significant temp difference on the screen, it's hardly noticeable, doesnt really make the screen feel "warmer".
@@monarch2397 You can get a gaming laptop cooling pad, which can cool your laptop very good, I have one and I'm playing heavy games and it's still kinda hot, but not too hot to make the screen melt.

One thing i hope u wanna check is (and its very important), how much the max ssd capacity of 2nd slot can handle. My local acer official said its max @512gb each slot. But, there is a reviewer in uk who have this laptop equipped with 512+1tb ssd (box co uk), so i wanna pull the trigger for 1 tb, but if it doesnt work ill be doomed. 1tb for a laptop is not enough nowaday to be honest

Hi, I upgraded the ssd on the laptop with a 1tb ssd and it works fine. The laptop recognizes the 1tb without any problems.

@@ej1688 hi thank you for the comment and liking! Really appreciate it! I’m using Photoshop myself on this laptop without any problems, and video editing too (sony vegas). So davinci resolve wouldn’t be a problem too I guess. The laptop is powerful and fast and therefore suitable for what you are looking, but if your main objective is to edit videos as fast as possible with the best performance and you don’t care about the all the other aspects of this laptop such as thin/light/great battery life, I think there are more powerful laptops for the same price. i have the exact same laptop, i mostly play League of Legends, i put into Performance mod, but the laptops feels very hot in my left hand, i cant feel the fans crank up very loud as one time i updated the bios,
Waw, i dont know that acer swift can run 100w usb c. I thing only 65w so i buy 65w one. Thanks for your very clear review, so i believe that this laptop more powerfull than i thing.

When charging via type-c - does the power go directly to the motherboard or does it go through the battery?
(For example, in a macbook, due to the fact that the power goes to the battery, then when working on charging, this harms the battery. Is there the same problem in this laptop?)
I have the ryzen 5 GTX 1660 version, very good laptop, performances but the network card sucks, change it as soon as it arrives with an Intel ax200

Hi, thanks for the comment! It’s good enough if you are a casual gamer. Don’t expect it to run all newest AAA games without any problems, but most games work great. Some games do work really fine without problem like Fh5 and Warzone. Some heavier games (like bf2042) need some tweaking. Luckily if the game supports DLSS you could get a huge performance boost.
@@LawageHD ah okay. Not a heavy gamer myself, and I don't really mind playing games at medium graphic settings. Seems the RTX 3050ti is pretty solid for a laptop gpu. Might get one for myself
seems great, but i dunno i had bad experience with Acer the build quality and the QC is not that great.

Hi, thank you for comment! It depends what you value more in a laptop for light gaming (and availability) . For example, normally I would have bought the asus zenbook (5800u model, OLED screen and no dedicated gpu)/or lenovo slim 7 with OLED screen because I really wanted an OLED display. It has long battery, can do light gaming with ryzen 7 igpu, is thing and has a faboulous screen. But both laptops weren’t in stock anywhere. So if you are okay with normal-good fhd ips screen, the acer swift x is a great choice for its price because you get a dedicated gpu + it is still lightweight + long battery life.

@@Ismail-zd9gp As far as I know, I think the swift x would be the best choice for your case then, because it can handle software stuff really well (current also doing software engineering related study) + battery life is a big plus even when coding + gaming here and there is ideal. I think the screen is the only slightly negative thing about the laptop, but if it does not bother you the swift x is ideal.

Hi, yes !. As an engineering student, heavier applications are no problem for this laptop so applications for architecture students like autocad and autodesk should run fine

Yes you can do it without any problem.

Thanks for your comment. Only the SSD is upgradable, in fact there are 2 slots so you can just add one if you like.

Hi I haven't got the laptop for that long so these are my impressions for so far:
- battery life is really good. With light/moderate use on school, I still haven't found myself needing to charge it, because it survives the entire day. To give a perspective, in one of my lectures we need to code and run stuff in the browser and after 4 hours (with lower screen brightness) I still had around 70% -> so if used in this setting I could easily get 10-12 hours.
-gaming: I haven't gamed a lot yet, but I can play warzone on an ultrawide monitor without problems. I haven't tried other games yet.
-thermals: gpu stayed around 70 ° C under load and cpu around 80 °C. I haven't gamed longer than an hour, but temps never exceeded. I did not use anything to reduce temperature.
Has anyone had any troubles considering this is an American laptop imported into Europe?

How is it like coding on a 14in screen, is it a problem? Do you connect it to a monitor for more room if you need it?
Hi, I always connect to my ultrawide monitor at home. But when coding at school, the 14 inch screen is no problem. It is large enough for me to do coding stuff
How is the fan noise of the laptop when plugged in, in daily use with the 'silent' profile?
The fan is very silent in silent mode with normal use (web browsing, coding, office, ...), you almost cant hear it. When you run bigger and heavier programs the fans make a little noise in silent mode.

Hello, I’m not sure. I have not yet seen this exact model in Europe/Serbia yet. I saw variants with 5600u/3050 in some German retailers but they have still to be released. I imported this laptop from the US from Amazon.com (I live in Belgium), if you want this laptop you could either wait or import it. Regards.

Will anything bad happen if I keep using over 65 watts for USB c?
Since I got the laptop I always used my 100W charger with usb c. And until now I still had no problems.

Yes, this would be a perfect choice for that! (if you can find it for a good price, I think there are newer models with better specs but they are more expensive, I am not sure)

Hi, the laptop is advertised on several places as windows 11-ready and it says on the product page (of Amazon) that the laptop will get a free upgrade to windows 11 when available. So yes, normally the laptop is upgradable to windows 11.

do you think the 8gb ram variant of this model will bottleneck the performance?
Hi, it depends on what you do. From my experience 8GB is not always enough (for example for gaming). And the ram is not upgradable. So I would play safe and always choose the 16gb ram variant if possible.

How is it playing games with 144hz?
Pretty good. Esports titles and lighter games work without problem on 144hz monitor

@@FramesbyLloyd as far as I know you need a usb c hub. I have one with DisplayPort connection. But the hubs with hdmi should work fine too (depending how big your monitor resolution is, 1080p 144hz works fine, but I’m not sure for an ultrawide monitor). I also think you can use some kind of usb c to DisplayPort adapter if that exist but i’m not sure.
