Beautifully articulated and thorough. Thank you for this video. As a student of art history and strong lover of this movement this video generalized the movement but successfully communicates the goals and significance of the style completely! Applause sir applause!
I love the history and legacy of Art Nouveau left the past designers and architects for all of us to appreciate and enjoy and to preserve for future generations to enjoy and respect.
I would say Rivendell & Hobbiton in the Lord of the Rings films incorporate elements of art nouveau. Myst: Exile and Myst: Revelation also incorporate the style into some of the architecture in the games.
+Luis “LuisNgchongJrArt” NgchongJrArt I just added him for my queue for future "Geek Me Five" videos. I focused more on the architectural side of Art Nouveau, but I'll take a look into this. Thank you!
It's interesting to see how art movements reflect their time. I suspected WW1 had something to do with the end of Art Nouveau, even if the style fell out of favor a few years beforehand. Apparently the public turned against it in the charged atmosphere of the pre-war years. The various incarnations of the movement took on strong national identities before being accused of subversive foreign origins. (m.theartstory.org/movement/art-nouveau/history-and-concepts/ ) Quite a shame, I think, but at least we got Art Deco right afterwards. Thanks for making this video! 👍
Great to see things like this on you tube its useful as a teacher to use, although your pronunciation is a wee bit err American :) but genuinely a great resource, well done :)
+Peter J Scott Thanks for the feedback! I do these videos so I can share my interests with the world, and should someone learn a little something-something from it, that's SUPER awesome! Also, **while shaking my fists to the sky** DARN MY AMERICAN ACCENT!!!!!!
hahaha nice one its not too bad, my outrageous Scottish accent is just as "interesting" :) my students do learn from your work, its good they can engage with new media like this so youre doing a great thing keep up the good work! if possible could i put in a request for you to do a Post Impressionism video? particularly on Van Gogh and Gaugin :) only of its relevant to your thing though! thanks again Peter
Well researched doc! Great that you also do subjects like Art Nouveau, as everyone needs to learn about it. For more detailed information, I recommend this blog I have been writing for many years: aboutartnouveau.wordpress.com/ Keep up the good work!
Probably my favorite movement especially the furniture and building facades

I started the video and as soon as I got hallway thru I subbed supper funny and helpful
Great job. @4:46 you’re killing me over here Well done!
Art nouveau must be the pinnacle of what mankind can achieve, nipped in the bud by consumerism and blandness
In every city if you take a drive to the older parts of town, you can see Art Deco and Art Noveau in the buildings.
I love the history and legacy of Art Nouveau left the past designers and architects for all of us to appreciate and enjoy and to preserve for future generations to enjoy and respect.
Best art nouveau facades i have seen was in Riga, Latvia. They had whole street with buildings in art nouveau style, quite unexpected
I'm loving this series
Art Noveau period was probably the most beautiful period in history. Everything went downhill after the Arts and Crafts movement.
Couldn't agree more!!!!!!
Your work is a joy to watch.
Excellent run-down on Nouveau's history.
+thpt Thank you very much; it's one of my favorite architectural eras!
Thanks, Montez, it was very interesting
+Max Strelnikov No problem; thank you very much for the feedback!

Pretty cool video~ I was hoping you'd go more into detail, and also your personal opinion on the movement or what have you. Thanks for posting this!

I've seen quite a few of the buildings featured, but I would love it if you let us know where each one is located!
Good work, thanks!

Super informative. Could you spell the name of that influencing Japanese style for me?
Eric Maher it’s called japonism
Victor Horta and Alphonse Mucha should have been mentioned.
