Fall damage is just extra mobility that you pay for with HP. The real barbarian class resource.
I want this comment framed and put on my wall. 🤣♥️👍
@@K_i_t_t_y84 That would be awesome. I think I stole it from somewhere (can't remember) so please don't credit me.
I've seen a ranger in a Pathfinder campaign use Call Animal Ally on top of a really tall tree to drop a bear on an enemy patrol, killing several of them (and the bear) with the fall damage. So it can also be used as a weapon.
@@dridiennydaral5579 That's brutal.
Yes, grappling flying enemies in 5e can have a similar effect. If you can reach.
Don't worry, I am high level monk. I don't know what fall damage is.
If I had a penny every time the Wurst Crew chose the worst decision possible, actually nailed the execution, and escaped more or less scot free, I would be able to pay off Gunnie's medical debt
They're FULLY coasting on Ally's Dice Diety powers at this point. If Margaret wasn't freaking KILLING it, they'd be so screwed.
@@UchihaKat Ally really is possessing some divine dice powers during this campaign
I was amazed how well Ally banking during their turn went.
after watching crown of candy, its a nice refresher for the gang to finally roll some luck on the dice
Further more they are sharing out those powers. True leader!
I love Lou's "You're raging, you'll be okay."
The man speaks from experience.
I hadn't even considered that and that makes it so much better
True barbarian players know to never fear the fall lmao
He put his title of The Unfallen to the test!
He really channeled that playing Jammer, too
no yeah, literally, i've taken been able to take hits that would have killed other party members, and still be left standing. Rage gets you by. Bear Totem rage keeps you immortal.
Next thing we see is Barry's selfie in a hospital bed and the text on it reads "I lived bitch"
Nah that's reserved for Barry 9
@@jaysabol1821 remember the zoo is also reserved for Barry 9 when it comes to a final show down
Ludwig
Hope everyone is doing good! Sending support and hearts! ❤️❤️❤️ Stay safe!
Being in a rage really helped there. Literally too angry to die
An interesting diagnosis but a helpful one on this scenario, that's right.
I originally read this comment like six weeks ago and I'm still thinking about it
The fall damage hurts - causing anger - and somehow *that* was necessary to tank the fall damage itself.
Kratos' life
That's basically the story of Hercules.
hearing that many dice hit the table always sends a chill down my spine
"Those are candies, right!? You're just hungry!?"
Once every few sessions my group's DM will roll a bunch of dice behind his divider for no reason other than to put us on edge
Funny, because that sounds always gives me joy.
In Dnd, its a source of dread for the players.
In Warhammer, thats just the first salvo.
@The_Keeper I was thinking Exalted where you built an utter badass and now your standard post-soak damage has you rolling 20 d10s minimum.
This series has two modes: crazy shenanigans that gets the crew into stupid amounts of trouble, and crazy shenanigans that help them barely survive said trouble.
I approve of both
@@CaptainShenanigans42 thank you captain shenanigans
And the fun part is that neither mode is labled and sometimes they go at the same exact time
@@logicaloverdrive8197 time for another hot exit!
every new clip from starstruck, I think to myself: “surely this is the worst decision they’ve made this season”. every time i am wrong.
Did you mean the "wurst" decision they've made?
For them the ball is literally going up but because we are in space the ball can keep moving up ubtil it crashes and destroys a random celestial object grabbing words from mass effect 2 Issac Newton is the most dangerous thing in the galaxy
I mean brennan did say they made the most broken characters as well 😆
@@gozzilla177 that's kinda the internal joke they made. The group decided to be a crew of space Bozos then also decided to make the most broken characters they could be. And I for one, am loving the dynamic of Hyper capable Idiots.
That's how you know they're playing correctly
The slight panic when he heard "Thirty-" because he only had 39 😂
The dead sincerity of Ally demanding how many levels down the jump is makes me think they are the only one who learned from the "Is it ten stories?!" mistake in Sophomore Year 😂
As the one who tried to use a ribbon dance mechanism to fly, I‘d hope they learned their lesson 😆
@@ShearGenius88 in the other hand, they're Ally Beardsley... I can see them learning nothing and doing something even crazier.
Kristen Applebees should've raged and she would have been fine
kristen: he didnt even try to ribbon dance down huh, he just went for it? huh. ok. respect.
It's okay Kristen his ribbon dance was his rage ability lmfao. (Will always love the "So you get down there way before Angwyn)
They’ve come so far from ribbon dance
++
gotta love it when going to "The Zone" actually assured your survival.
When you're so focused you don't even notice those crunchy sounds coming from your legs
It's fine, we're gods.
this was the first comment on this video. as it deserves.
CLIFFDIVE!!
I turn into a goldfish
I was thinking the same thing when this happened. At least Barry has a drop suit.
Barbarian (or in this case, Berserker) Rage means you take only half damage from falling. You get to do a cool superhero landing where you punch the ground, it's great.
Love how Zac looks into the camera after making a pun
"I might not get a response from them, but the viewers. The viewers will know. 😏"
You’re about to hit 69 likes. Nice.
*Barry stands up, legs broken and bleeding* "I'm okay!"
Both of his legs are just dusted into pasty mush.
I haven't watched this series yet but based on what I've seen, Murph is finally roleplaying as the irresponsible player he never had a chance to be.
Yeah, Murph is giving Zach a break from always playing the resident himbo of the campaign.
Murph playing a himbo is a very rare thing, only seen before with one or two NPCs on "Not Another D&D Podcast" which he DMs. (Even with all Murph's NPCs he still hasn't played a himbo very often, sadly)
To be fair, he doesn't really get that chance since Emily and Allie constantly play the same annoyingly irresponsible and pretty dumb characters and Lou is kinda the free lancer of the group who consistently gets the best characters because he's so good. That just leaves Zac and Murph to pick up the scraps of the super serious guy and the lovable goofball most of the time. They both do great with either of those though.
@@jasonvazquez4953 Murph doesn't play the irresponsible goofball because that's just not the kind of player he is. He's also a DM and he tends to be pretty strict. Not in a bad way, that's just his style.
Can't believe you guys forgot about Cody, the Hot Topic manager that wanted to save the mall he worked at, his second character in the Sleeping City series. If that wasn't another irresponsible goofball I don't know what is.
@@jasonvazquez4953 Wrong on so many levels.
I'm just crying at "is it candy? Are you hungry? " 🤣🤣🤣
A valid question, where Mr. Furnace is involved.
I just imagine him falling and landing on his back with a loud *”crunch”*, followed by him lifting up a thumbs up and weakly going “I’m good!”
They get down to him and say, "Barry, your knees are sticking out of your face."
ITS KNEES ARE BACKWARDS, MY GUY!!! LOL some content creator on RUclips said that once🤣🤣
"Hey Billy"
Big “Bruce banner jumping onto the rainbow bridge and folding like a chair when he lands” energy
The level of feral in this campaign is off the charts. For once, Brennan is playing the straight man to the party’s insanity.
Also “in the zone” made me cry with laughter
Bigger and bigger sunglasses
I like this comment, because it was meant to be the opposite. In this season, Brennan is the one creating insanity, throwing literal nonsense at his players. They're the ones that have to play straight.
That amount of dice hitting the table always sends chills down my spine
ah yes, a perfect prequel to barry getting shot in the face a hundred times
Flashbacks to Red Vs Blue Maine
Reminds me of one of my favorite RPG stories as a player. We were playing Shadowrun, basically Cyberpunk with fantasy elements. I was playing a troll loaded up with cyberware, so I could take HUGE amounts of punishment. We were trying to assassinate this mid-level executive in a corporate skyscraper, and we had gotten into the building by posing as workers. While the others caused chaos, I used the opportunity to get to the top of the tower and kill the guy. We had this big plan that I would escape by jumping out a window and the player playing a shaman would use magic to catch me on the way down. What we failed to remember was that corpo buildings are typically warded, which in D&D terms is kind of like an always-on automatic counterspell. The shaman failed to overcome the ward, and my troll fell like 80 floors and splatted on the pavement. I lived, but just BARELY, and the shaman had to drag my dying troll like 100 meters in the middle of a firefight so he could get me out of the ward and heal me. God, I miss the shenanigans we used to get up to in Shadowrun.
I loved playing a Troll in Shadowrun.
I had 1 int, and once outsmarted the mage by rolling seven 6s and a 4 for an int check. I forget how many 1s the mage rolled, but the crew never let him forget that one time "Belch" the Troll was smarter.
Having a box with hard candies next to you should be a thing. Shake it for heighten anxiety.
Barbarians just jumping off shit is one of my favorite parts of D&D. Once you get to a certain health, it just becomes a valid tactic
That was almost Murph's "We're gods!" moment
Murphy’s delivery of “I’m going to the ship” is so fkn hilarious it kills me every time. Just so bold, no consideration for consequences. Barry knows he can take it, and he’s gotta save his friends! He’s goin to the ship! Even if it’s a ¼ mile free fall!
“If I die just leave me” 😂❤
"It's fine, we're gods."
"We were at a spa today" I feel this to so many degrees on so many levels
"Are you trying to go to the next level down or are you going straight-"
"I'm going to the ship"
lou of all people would know about raging through fall damage…….
Glad to see these guys have their own version of "Its cool, we're gods!"
“Those are candies right? You’re just hungry?”
Lmao
I loved this moment so much. Starstruck is amazing
FLYYY MEEE TOOO THE DANGER ZOOOONE
The lyrics are "Highway to the Danger Zone." Which still fits. lol
@@luv2skat that makes more sense lol. I associate that song only with top gun, so it's always been "fly me" in my head xD.
He was definitely flying in this scene. Or falling with style. Your pick.
I love Zac making the "Wurst day" joke to the camera knowing no one there would get it, and then looking back at us when Ally makes the same joke
I love the way the Intrepid Heroes cover for Brennan rolling and adding up dice by doing bits
_“Those are candies, right..?_
_You’re just hungry...”_
Brennan _is_ famous for his need to Snack.
God Barry is a fuckin action hero for real
I love still that rage halves fall damage. It's my favourite thing
I'm getting flashbacks to when ally tried to use a dance ribbon to fly
Low key, the BEST dimension 20 series. It’s so freakin good.
My most recent session, we had our level 2 druid LEAP into a CAVERN without looking down. 12 health total. With rolling 1d6 for each 10 foot she fell, she racked up 63 damage of splat. Yeah, we weren't to happy with here when there WAS A STAIRCASE DOWN RIGHT BESIDE US. She cut off the dm that she jumps in, he said "are you sure" then "yep!" *entire party groans*
Ooo! Your party could have Druid Pancakes when they get to the bottom! 😋 🥞
The original damage was actually 66 and Gunnie only had it halved to 33.
It was halved because Barry was raging, which halves physical damage
@@DeathnoteBB Isn't fall damage calculated as force damage?
@@kuchinator8843 Which is a physical type of damage, yes. Idk DnD law I just know “Thing hit Raging Barbarian. Thing hit half as hard”
And well, the floor hit Barry. But things like magic or elemental damage isn’t halved.
@@kuchinator8843 No, it's calculated as bludgeoning damage.
@@DeathnoteBB Force damage is not physical, somehow, but fall damage is bludgeoning damage.
I am loving this season, while it has super relatable problems, it has a heaping amount of stupid fun to keep me laughing.
Sounded like he emptied a bag of ice on that roll 😂😂
on my next session, I'll just suddenly unleash a mountain of dice without telling anyone what it's about, and then just silently calculate something, nod to myself, and write something down with a displeased expression
"This is our worst day!"
"We said that yesterday!"
The clip totally cuts out the fact that it was 33 points of damage AFTER being halved due to Barry being “In the Zone”
No it doesn't. Lou says he's raging. And they explain how it reduces damage... Did you even watch this?
@@kernalmustang260 to clarify, the clip does a bad job of explaining that the damage was “66 halved to 33”, not “33 halved to 17”. They cut out the part of the episode where Brennan divulges the full damage, so the clip isn’t clear on what the “full damage” was. No need to be rude, dude.
@@VandreadMasterX yes, but it's clear because of context:
"You're raging" and "I would have to be 80 damage" mean that Barry had around 40 hp. "6 hp left" mean that these 33 damage were already halved.
Player: I jump down the hole with no discernable bottom
DM: sighing....we're gunna need more dice
"Those are candies right?'
*dice rolling intensities*
Legs, are, shattered. A good night's sleep will cure that.
My groups last campaign, (I was a lvl 10 monk) jumped off a small cliff, grappled the BBEG out of the air. Didn't use slow fall and landed on them after a 240' fall.
I took 98 damage (had 2 health left), he took his 98 and mine for 186. Grapple takes one of your weapon attacks. So I still had an attack and flurry of blows. Crit on both flurry hits. Ended them in one turn.
DnD is amazing. "Yeah, this pair of characters could survive a 240' fall. And yeah, the monk is in good enough mental and physical shape afterwards to beat the other guy up."
Dude got up with basically two percent of his health and said time to punch
Dude just Master Chief'd and went (mostly) unpunished for it.
Bro casually just breaks both his legs and is laughing like he heard the best joke ever
Long-haired Murph was such a delightful chaos monster.
Health is a currency, and god I'm paying with it.
"Rage makes for a hell of an anesthetic"
Getting a subscription to drop out is so worth it, I watch this stuff for hours and have been for months!! Everyone clearly loves what they do and creates just spectacular stuff I don’t see anywhere else!
and THIS is exactly why DMs only roll dice for the sound it makes
Jacob is so likable and his decks are so powerful. And Kyle is the absolute best at friendly banter. A++ pod!
A level 8 barbarian can survive a fall from orbit
I love these series so much
"...how far are you falling?"
*"Y E S"*
Shades of Kristin Applebee’s “ribbon dance to fly” action 😆😆😆
Those superhero landing are really hard on the knees 😂
You haven't really played a barbarian until you've survived a fall that would kill something twice your size
I love how Zac and Ally are in the same headspace
If a moment ever needed to be animated it's this one
"I have three health left!"
_waddles onto the ship, as his legs are now in his shoulders_ 😂
i love when murph makes objectively dumbass decisions because it's suck a rarity but always a treat. and it usually somehow turns out better than when he makes really good decisions and rolls a 3.
I like it when murph gets to be chaotic :)
Nothing proves that HP is a resource better than this. Barbarians get the biggest hit dice and they're gonna damn well use it
And that's the d10 HD express elevator!
Starstruck is my fave campaign its so chaotic and beautiful and fun.
The real damage is the friends we made along the way.
This group always find a way to jump off something that can kill them
more amazing than the ridiculous fall that just occurred, is the fact that barry is somehow still alive after all that. what a male.
Lou letting everyone know the rage means falling is safe. He knows, he's done it before.
Why am I getting flashbacks to Keyleth saying “Its fine we’re gods!”?
I picture this as that scene in iCarly where gibby falls from the ceiling
Ally’s ribbon dancing PTSD kicked in REAL hard lmao. “Wait how many levels, how many levels?!”
not even unconscious. what a chad
Barry and Gunnie look at each other and say, “Family.”
I miss you Wurst Crew
"We were at a spa today..." 😂
Ah good ol' rage shenanigans
My favorite class feature period
Barry was the baller brawler that campaign.
This scene was so -ing cool, comet between the floors
Look, statistically, and we learned this from Amethar too, with full health and rage, most barbarians don't die from fall damage. They take it, sure, and it can be crippling. But they are not likely to outright die. At worst, they may fall unconscious. But damn, is that not a fine edge to walk.
I believe Amethar was a good 3-5 levels higher than Barry, and the risk wasn't necessarily that he'd die (he's at full, 39, which means that even at max falling damage, after rage, would reduce it to 60), it's literally that Gunnie wasn't strong enough to carry him if he got knocked out
A lot of the time I feel fall damage isn't high enough but these moments are always cool
I love that you didn’t make a fuckin 10 minute video on this, clear and concise.
I like how everyone around the table, one by one, not all at once, picks up on the 'Wurst day' joke
It's funny because this isn't another ribbon dancer moment, this is one DM looking another in the eye with "are we _really_ gonna do this?"
Flashbacks to Banner and the wolf in Ragnarok
Just got to this episode tonight, and frankly Barry might be my favorite Murph character
SING WITH ME, SING FOR THE YEAR, SING FOR THE LAUGHTER AND SING FOR THE TEAR
Shoulda turned into a goldfish
Every day is the worst day if you try hard enough. Don't let anyone ruin your day, it's your day ruin it yourself
"Gibby!" *smashes into the floor*
Is all I could think of while watching this clip.
