He was repeatedly off by factors of 10 and 1000 in the debate: trillionaires and trillions of dollars rather than billions, price caps of $200 not $2000 (also $15, not $35)... Mixing up a trillion and a billion once is a problem but mixing up every other number is just...

For his real crowds they use every excitement technique: lighting, temperature control, embedded groups of inciters*, prepping the crowd... and maybe free coffee and caffeinated beverages beforehand.
