- Wang Shunjin demonstrating his Bagua, and Liao Wuchang demonstrating his monkey boxing. This video was an extract of Robert W. Smiths personal video collection when we was in Taiwan during the 1950's. The first man punching Wang Shujin's stomach is Mr. Smith himself.
Hey YT, Kent Howard has 2 instructional Baguazhang DVDs, he is a student of one of Wang Shu Jin's main disciples. The DVD is excellent, really clear demos of Wang's 8 basic palm changes linking form. Highly recommended. The 2nd DVD seems more advanced, the swimming body palms. It basically fits under Cheng style. I use it for health and meditation but you can fight with it with enough rou shou practice. Wang Shu Jin took on many challengers and was not ever beaten or seriously injured in a fight. He also once challenged champion boxer Joe Louis. There's a good Wikipedia article, his legacy is a Kung Fu School: the "Cheng Ming". At his peak, he had about 1800 students.
The second guy hitting Wang to no effect may be Donn Draeger. Back in the day, Mr. Smith would show these films around twice a year after Saturday morning T'ai Chi at the Y. Great stuff, really brings me back t see it!
Wang Shujin aka Wang Chu Ching one of the great internal master of the century. He mastered Pa kua, Hising I and Tai Chi chuan.
Great.
If There's a netizen or a keyboard warrior who wants laugh and give a poor comment, please realized when a warrior from ancient time creations a skiled or a style,it's about alive and dead matters.

神の領域だな。🙄
Where did you find this? This is footage from Mr. Smith is very rare. I trained with a disciple of his for years. Do have any more of this?
That gets you an immediate sub. and my thanks. Never thought I would see for myself Liao Wuchang doing his deep form, Monkey Biking? Very happy, as always, to see Wang Ssu Chin. Watching him meander through Pa Kua was entertaining. Any tape from these days is worth its weight in gold.
Mr. Smith's books have been a long and treasured friend. Thanks very much for sharing with us.

Hi, just wanted you to know I didn't write that. Someone else posted the comment when I was logged in. Apologies for my name being used for that abuse.
Yes, but the saying is from Bruce Lee and the sentiment still rings true no matter from a 17 year old queen fan to a 35 year old father.
Wonder if there is any footage out there of Master WSJ doing whole eight palms set - would be amazing.
Wow, thanks for the clip.
This is a great master ... and he is adorable ... not fat!
Nice! Wang Shu Jin!
@MrDenverdan It's from the soundtrack of "House of Flying Daggers".

Yes, Wang Shu Jin is using a heel-toe step here, but if you learn the mud-wading step it is faster than that. You start with the 3-part, then the four-part step, finally the 2-part. You end up shifting your weight off the back foot very quickly. Even if you play with it an hour or 2 you will be surprised....a few lessons help too.
"Too often one of those big-belly masters will tell you that his internal power has sunk to his stomach; he's not kidding, it is sunk and gone! To put it bluntly, he is nothing but fat and ugly"
wang shujin killed a number of people who challenged him to a fight. don't let that belly fool you
@@daboodeef179 It is recorded somewhere who lost. He used to love to put down karate and this caused a lot of karateka to come and challenge him. This was back in the day when challenge matches and whatever happened in them were not considered prosecutable crimes.... Let's just say none of those karateka came back to their dojo.
