- In Germany we don't say the Podcast - Episode 25 (Christmas special)
We combine cultures for a Denglish Christmas as Valérie talks about how she experienced Christmas in Germany, whilst Liam has some traditional British Xmas surprises up his sleeve...
I’m Portuguese and my wife is Polish, so I feel an affinity with both of you and your mix and match Christmas traditions. We do same here and it’s always fun.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to Carpenters. I’m from Ukraine natively. Now I’m living in Israel. I have been Watching your couple’s show since the beginning of it and subscribed to Liam’s shorts and videos mb two years. Happy to sharing with people that comment. Guys keep on moving . Interesting to see differences of mentality’s German and English. But still are together and creating nice content. ✌️🎉
Ich wünsche schöne Weihnachten, Valerie und Liam und allen Abonnenten dieses Kanals🎄
Merry Christmas for all! Many thanks for this video! Have fun over the holidays in England!
We had this tradition reciting a christmas poem or song before we get the presents. I loved it. ❤😊 We are a musician family. All were singing in a choir or playing several instruments. Me f.e. Blockflöte, Piano, guitar, Cello and Akordeon. My mother guitar, e-bass, Blockföte and piano. My father the drums. My sister akordeon and Blockflöte.
We did that, as well. Even if Santa didn't come to our house in person as the Christkind brought the presents.
I, actually, disagree with her: just because less and less of people do this anymore, it disqualifies as a tradition.
I always love listening to you guys have a merry Christmas
Merry Christmas and salutations from Belfast Northern Ireland 🇬🇧
Hello, Liam & Valérie, I enjoy the extra camera angle. Frohe Weinachten! Pats for Mia & Charlie
Wishing you both and all of your followers a very Merry Christmas!
Frohe Weihnachten Euch beiden und alles Gute für das neue Jahr.
I always enjoy your videos. Have a Marry Christmas in England. You’re a Cute Couple for sure. Las Vegas here. Cheers 🎉
Love Valérie's stereotypically monotonous voice. Frohe Weihnachten!
She adapted to her husband.
A German would NEVER hide a pickle (or any other foreign matter) in the christmas tree. There standing me the hairs to the mountains, if I imagine this.
It’s a pickle ornament that gets hidden deep in tree. It’s usually a gift card or something small. I only learned it when I moved to Pennsylvania at 11.
Glad to hear that Valerie’s family put Christ at the heart of Christmas.
As a child dad would encourage us sing a Christmas song before a present. He wanted us to have fun and make it last and it was great. He would clap like we were just amazing haha ❤(USA). And I never heard if the pickle thing 😝
Love episode. Don't argue with Valerie, Liam.
She's a good wife
Very wholesome show. Thanks ❤
Merry Christmas from Australia!❤ love your videos!
That's harsh leaving milk out for Father Christmas: you're supposed to leave him a mince pie and a glass of brandy!
He's like thousands of years old and doing the same insanely busy job _again_ for another year so he deserves some booze to get him through and take the edge off the cold. 😄
Greetings from New York! I’ve never heard of a pickle in a Christmas tree, false rumor. Have a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year! 🎄
Never heard of hiding a pickle in the UK , Germany or Canada 😂
Nobody knows where that trend started, or why it’s connected to Deutschland.
Sorry... but you intended 'mumming' - not 'mummering'. Mumming is the act of dressing up and going house- to-house and involved, traditionally, acting out fragments of plays in exchange for gifts.
It’s become a tradition in the U S; we were told it’s a German tradition. I think it’s just a way for Old World Ornaments to sell another ornament
@ yep
@@SuzzieMarie0130 I think used to there's were "well known" glass blowers in Germany that made glass ornaments for Christmas trees and one of the popular ones were a "pickle". 👀
I assume that's were it's started from mby .. 🤭
Liam & Valerie are the best! Wish they'd worry less about quality, instead just uploading more & more videos! I'd like to start everyday watching them, even if that just means watching them starting their days! (Liam reminds me of an old friend from Gillingham who I don't see any more)
I thought this was gonna be Richard and Karen..😂
Happy Christmas!🎄✨️🎄✨️🎄
We tend to eat clementines and oranges in Autumn and winter, because that's when they are in season.... They don't store as well as apples, which are also an Autumn fruit and can be stored up to a year under the right conditions.
Once upon a time, many (the majority of) people in England were so poor all they could gift to their children on Christmas Day was an apple and / or an orange. That is why these fruit are included in the Christmas gift tradition. In memory of those much harder times.
Most Brits go on a Boxing Day walk to help burn off the excess food from the day before.
40:35 we played this at child birthdays long ago with a chunk of chocklate that is wrapped up multiple times with old newspapers. First you have to put on mittens, then a scarf and ushanka, the take a knife and fork and open the present as far as you can do in a minute, after the minute you pass the mittens and stuff to the next kid, that does the whole procedure for a minute and so on until the chocklate has been eaten, very funny...
FROHE WEIHNACHTEN wünscht euch Patricas Mama🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲
Merry Christmas to you all! I just learned about the Christmas pickle. We bought one at the Christmas market. So this is going on the tree. A few years ago I hid a raspberry pi in the tree. Not a raspberry pie. No cake, the mini computer. It has a green circuit board and I chose a small one. Nobody noticed until the tree was taken down. 😂😂😂
Frohe Weihnachten euch beiden! Macht weiter mit euren Videos, die sind echt lustig!
I wish you both and everyone on this channel a merry Christmas
Merry Christmas, Carpenters!!!!!
I heard the pickle story first about 3 years ago when we had a work-quiz and the American organiser wanted to convince me that it as was a German tradition. I had certainly never heard of it, I asked my parents as it could have been regional thing, but they did not know either, so I googled it and it is actually a fascinating story....but it is not a German tradition, even though the Americans believe it is. There is, however, a connection as to why they believe it is :) Froehliche Weihnachten hoert sich besser an als Frohe Weihnacht ;)
"Goodness such a lovely tree you guys have this year!"
"Ser ar tu männi laits on se trie. Häf ju not ried se *Brandschutzverordnung?"*
Merry Christmas to your family! 🎄🎅🏻🎁🇩🇪🇬🇧
In Canada, babies wear jumpers (onesies) and adults wear sweaters.🇨🇦
1:11 yes they do🎉, Happy Christmas
Merry X-Mas 😊❤
Frohe Weihnachten 🎉😊
all English friends being over at New Years were absolutely amazed that the whole country is going berserk and firing rockets (fireworks) at Silvester, they had never expected that from Germans and being outright flabbergasted what goes on during that night
Schöne Weihnachten 🎄
20:44
I love that "Hä?". :D
I’ve heard of hiding a pickle in a Christmas tree but always thought it was a German American tradition. Like something you would see in Frankenmuth Michigan
My family here in the US has a strong English background and we always have mince pie at Christmas. It’s always made with venison and made in one pie and not individual pies.
I'm surprised that a pom didn't know about the silver zac being in the pudding.
I (German) and Eric (English) live very close to you both, about 50 kilometers? Merry Christmas! 🎄❤
Huh when my family talks about a Denglish Christmas it usually means that it’s a Danish/English Christmas
Playmobil Funpark near Nuremberg ist fantastic for smaller Kids (till 8?) Outloor attractions and tons of playarea with all sets inside
Frohe Weihnachten! Remember, don't feed raisins to your dogs. St. Nikolaus was a bishop from Myra, today Turkey (270 - 343). He died on a December 6th. In southern Germany, they have the "Christkindl" (Christ child).
Raisins can always be be omitted.
Oh shoot too late well third anyway
Will there be English subtitles?
🎄
In our family, we don't say "Frohes Fest!", we abbreviate it to "Frest!" and think it's wonderful 😁
Gutes Video
Happy Yule, Happy Holidays :)
14:20 Is she implying it's a fire hazard? Because the real candles in the tree isn't?
We usually give gifts in England, not 'gift' gifts!🤣.

Yes You should absolutely say a poem or sing a Christmas song by da Christmas Tree for d each gift. 🎁 👀
What do You think, You should just b given all da gifts for free. 😶🎶
"Christkind" is infant-Jesus for most people I guess. Not an angel. Although there are apparently some areas where it is seen as a separate angel ...
Liam putting the socks twistedly is triggering me 🫣
Ich frag mich schon oft ob du überwiegend englisch oder deutsch sprichst
Oh mann dieser britischer akcent 😂
I feel like she hates English things, other than her husband 🤣
I wish I had a norwegian boyfriend
I wish I had a finnish bf. Haha
Aus der Dachkammer
How do you say "deport them all" in German?
First in comment :D
Regarding the poems/songs I mean if lots of people do it its a tradition right? All traditions are new at some point. And its cute not cringe, cultural cringe is the real cringe.
