How did u get the bolt on to the bottom of the shock, I can't do it, its a little longer should I try to compress the shock with a jack?
Yes that's what I would do.
Any tips for getting the upper control arm out and loose? Mine is pretty stuck under friction

Why did you replace the shock (did you do both?) and what did you replace it with? A used one or a new one, how much were they and where did you source them from?
