  • Decided to jump into the white belt absolute divisions this tournament, I only weigh 160 pounds, so I basically got thrown around in some of these matches. This is the third and final part of the CBJJF provincial tournament.

"I do not want to get caught under a big guy." *Proceeds to pull guard on heavy weight big boy*
    Good rolling, lol.

yeah. pulling guard and maintaining shield is fine. once his weight is on you life sucks.

I guess it's not getting caught if you get there on your own🤪😂

As a guy who competed at ultra heavy in my first year I learned to NEVER underestimate the smaller guy. Had a guy in an absolute who I outweighed by a good 100lbs double leg me from go, grapevined my legs and held on for dear life. I could not for the life of me scrape him off. That was a humbling and frustrating way to lose but it taught me a lesson.
Keep doing these absolutes and keep humbling these big guys. You're doing us a favor.

I like watching white belt matches because I’m a white belt and it helps to see what others are doing. It’s more practical. Black belt matches are fun, but they’re doing things I can’t or in situations I’ll never be in.

Great content! I'm getting ready to compete for my first time. Could you tell us how many days a week (minimum) you would suggest going to class to get the stamina for a tournament. I'm working full time with a family and I'm going 3-4 days/week.

Should go as much as you feasibly can in my opinion! The real stamina comes from staying relaxed and calm in the moment. Compete how you train basically
