  • Simple Relativity is a 2D short educational animation film. The film is an attempt to explain Albert Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity with a simpler visual representation and exciting animation. In a time when our day-to-day life is surrounded by technology, most people find it daunting to understand the science and its application. Simple Relativity is an attempt to excite the viewer about this complex phenomenon of Relativity so that they can approach this, and science in general, with a lot more curiosity rather than inhibition.

Theory of relativity: Reference frame. But it can't deal with bending time of slowing or stretching it. Time is constant yet time is relative. Im talking about the real time not the physical one. It was general law of time.

@@tonyb83 Even if the speed of light is constant the distance is increasing so it will take more time cover that distance. Secondly as the lamp is moving with so the light should also have the same speed in forward direction as any body moving in any ship does have the same speed as that of the ship so the speed of light should be its own speed plus speed of ship. That is speed of light should vary.

They always make it sound so bizarre and complicated.
In truth, all objects travel at "c", and they all do so in the 4 dimensional environment that is known as Space-Time. If you examine the outcome of this phenomena, you will independently discover Special Relativity(SR). You also independently derive all of the SR equations.

Imagine a bunch of particles moving at the speed of light within the 3 spatial dimensions of a transparent box. Now imagine we add one more dimension to the box such that its new shape is a 4 dimensional Space-Time shape. It now extends across 3 spatial dimensions, and 1 time dimension. The particles inside it are still on the move at the speed of light, but now they may move across the added dimension as well. The greater a degree a particles motion is across time, the lesser it is in motion across space. Since some percentage of the particles motion is across time, an external observer would observe that these particles are moving at less than the speed of light, even though their magnitude of motion has not changed.
Anyhow, if you examine the concept of all objects traveling at "c" within 4D Space-Time, the outcome of the analysis is an independent discovery of Special Relativity and all of its mathematical equations.

    • @new-knowledge8040
      @new-knowledge8040 7 лет назад +6

If you reverse engineer SR, you find that all objects move at "c" within Space-Time.
See " The Elegant Universe " PDF - By Brian Greene, Pages 26 & 27.
Even if you have no physics education, and you just use your head to analyze "motion", you will eventually discover SR and all of its mathematical equations independently.

bugman bugman I struggled with it for a long time also. This is the way I finally understood it...pretend (I know this isn’t real but just to help you understand) that the speed of light was 1,000 miles per hour and nothing in the universe can go faster than that. Now imagine you are running 10 miles per hour with a flashlight in your hand...and then you turn on the flashlight and point forward. That would mean the light would be traveling straight ahead at 1,010 miles an hour right? (The speed of light plus the extra speed you are adding by running). But we know now that is impossible...light is a constant so it cannot go faster than 1,000 miles per hour (in this example). In order for it to remain at 1,000 miles per hour something else has to slow down and that is time. Since light can’t slow down or speed up. So we are the ones affected. Think about the x men movie where quicksilver is beating up those guards I. The pentagon....he is moving extremely quick and time has to slow down around him.

    • @SeventeenSphinx
      @SeventeenSphinx 4 года назад +60

bugman bugman well keep in mind well that Example isn’t perfect but keep in mind that’s why it applies specifically to things moving at or near the speed of light, as you get closer to that speed everything else seems to completely stop. There are lifeless planets in the universe that are traveling hundreds of thousands of miles per hour faster than us which is why living there for a year would be like living 30 years here.

Since the universe is expanding and evolving, 1st theory is not 100% correct automatically. Big Bang theory says that the current age of universe is 11-20 billion years. But according to new observations, i.e. clusters of galaxies, super-clusters, Great Wall (Tully's complexes), it is quite evident that our universe is much much older than that. Lots of cosmologist believe that big-bang theory is not correct although it is most widely accepted. In short, modern man is not aware of forces and science which are needed to expain the creation of universe.
Lets look at vedic science and what it says. Right now I am quoting only what it says:
      a. Total age of universe is 311.04 trillion years (human years).
      b. Current age is around 155.521972944 trillion years.
      How it is calculated:
-> There are 4 ages on earth which keeps circulating:
Satya Yuga - 1.728 million years
Treta Yuga - 1.296 million years
Dwapara Yuga - 0.864 million years
Kali Yuga - 0.432 million years
      Total: 4.32 million human years.
-> This yuga cycle is called maha (in english, it means great/big) or divya (divine) yuga. One thousand such cycles forms one day of Brahma (a demigod in hindu religion which governs the universe). So one day of Brahma is 4.32 million * 1000 = 4.32 billion human years. Each such day of Brahma is called a "kalpa". His night also constitutes 4.32 billion human years. During his day, life exists in universe. In nighttime, no form of life exists. So one complete day and night has 8.64 billion human years.
-> Age of Brahma is 100 years. Each year of Brahma has 360 days and same number of nights. Thus, total age of Brahma is 360 * 100 * 8.64 billion = 311,040 billion human years. i.e. 311.04 trillion years. This period is called "maha kalpa".
-> The life span of the universe is one "maha kalpa". i.e. 311.04 trillion human years. This time span is also the duration of one breath of "Vishnu" (the ultimate god in hindu religion). When he exhales, thousands of universes emerges and one "Brahma" is born in each universe. When "Vishnu" inhales, all universes get sucked and Brahma dies.
-> This cycle is non-ending and eternal. Thats why "Vishnu" is considered eternal in Vedic Science (or religion).
How much old is our universe:
-> Note that the period of Satya Yuga is 0.4x, Treta Yuga is 0.3x, Dwapara Yuga is 0.2x and Kali Yuga is 0.1x where x is the time-span of one maha-yuga cycle. I will use 'x' as 1 maha-yuga cycle subsequently.
-> In 1 day of Brahma, there are 14 "manvantara". Each "manvantara" is divided into 71 "maha-yuga" cycles. So total make 14*71 = 994x (mahayuga cycles).
-> Remaining cycles (1 day of Brahma contains 1000 maha-yuga cycles) are used to fill gaps between manvantara. Before and after each manvantara (called as "sandhya" and "sandhyamsa" respectively), there is a junction of 1.728 million (age of Satya Yuga, or 0.4x) human years. Total number of junctions are 15 (since there are 14 manvantaras). So total gap period is = 0.4 * 15 = 6x. Hence total makes 1000 maha-yuga cycles or 1 brahma day.
-> According to the Vedic texts, current age of Brahma is 50 Brahma years and 1 brahma day (we are in the 1st day of 2nd half of brahma)and we are in the seventh "manvantara", in the 28th turnover of its 71 yuga cycles. In this cycle, we are in the start Kali Yuga. Age of kali yuga is not known perfectly but it is around 5000-10000 years. For calculation, lets assume 8000 human years.
-> So current age of our universe (in terms of maha-yuga cycles) =
      (50 * 720 * 1000) -- 50 years * (360 days + 360 nights) * total no. of cycles in one day/night
      + (6 * 71) -- 6 manvantara each of 71 maha-yuga cycle
      + (7 * 0.4) -- 7 junctions or gaps for 6 manvantara
      + (27 * 1) -- we are in 28th cycle of 71
+ (0.4+0.3+0.2) -- In this cycle, we are in Kali Yuga. Satya Yuga, Treat Yuga and Dwapara yuga are 0.4x, 0.3x and 0.2x respectively.
+ around 8000 human years -- very small, so ignoring it.
Thus total age = (36,000,000 + 456.7)x = 36,000,456.7 * 4.32 million = 155,521,972.944 million years = 155.521972944 trillion human years. Now add the age of kaliyuga. i.e. around 8000 human years. One we calculate the exact age of kaliyuga, we can know the exact age of universe.
How ancient Indians (or Vedic people, more precisely) come up with these numbers, I dont have a clue.

You must differentiate between proper time and improper time which are in two different frames of reference. In the first the same observer is present for both events. In the latter case different observers observe the two events in their common frame of reference. The point underlying the theory of relativity is that light 'motion' can be measured only with respect to an observer not with respect to a medium.

at 3:51 It would be helpful for listeners if you had emphasized, exactly why "something has to be given-away" for speed of light in both clocks to remain same. I mean it would have been easier to understand if you had explained why the space-ship clock's light had to travel extra-distance.

    • @bigmusicboom1620

Simrandeep Singh if it travel slow the distance will be less and if you travel faster than that light speed,,the distance will be large

    • @Sehyo
      @Sehyo 4 года назад +5

The reason it has to travel an extra distance is because it has to travel the combination of two vectors. Vector A: Up/Down inside the light clock, and Vector B: The velocity of the spaceship. If the spaceship is stationary, Vector A + Vector B is equal to Vector A alone. But if the spaceship is moving, Vector A + Vector B != Vector A, thus there is a greater distance to be travelled. Light speed is a constant, so it is impossible for light to traverse the new combined vector in the same amount of time as it would traverse Vector A. Therefore, this is proof of time slowing down for moving objects.

There's no reason why a light pulse that is traveling orthogonal to the direction of space-ship/apparatus travel should mysteriously have added to it a lateral velocity component equal to that of the reference-frame of the apparatus generating and reflecting it. It's not going have an apparent or real or pseudo-real diagonal path at all.
Going at sufficient velocity, the spaceship's photon should start missing the mirror(s) altogether, and that's what an external observer is going to see. That's perfectly _obvious._
What isn't obvious to Einstein in the ship is why the light starts missing the mirrors. His reference-frame is stationary. His clock is stationary; the light pulse should be bouncing up and down quite normally.
I'm underscoring a problem with the classic gendankenexperiment that's seldom or never addressed in these simplistic videos.

  • @nohaxjustxmod-sfs3984
    @nohaxjustxmod-sfs3984 3 года назад +10

Hey, even though both are different, gravitational time dilation and velocitous time dilation are kind of the same when you think about it. Since, energy is equivalent to mass, the more kinetic energy you put in matter, the more mass it will have. This effect grows exponentially as the object reaches closer to the speed of light, to the point that it would require an infinite amount of energy for said object to reach this speed or faster. But, the more mass an object has, the stronger it’s effect on spacetime’s curvature. In other words, it would have gravity. A sub-luminous object would be dominated by energy mass equivalence, and therefore the effect of time dilation for velocity actually comes from the gravitational influence, which in turn is from mass that said sub-luminous object has which comes from it’s kinetic energy. Correct me if I’m wrong, I made this connection myself and I’m no physicist.

    • @KibyNykraft
      @KibyNykraft 2 года назад

Of all the relativists' superb understanding and work, the idea of the space "curvature" is probably the dumbest. All of science in astronomy and advanced engineering of the industrial age is based on the foundation of space as literally empty (a background). Apart from its matter and potentially dark particles or antiphotons etc.

I learnt more in this demonstration video about time, than in ANY OTHER physics class, or video. I have been wondering what time is, or could be proven for 30 years. But it is already proven now thanks to physocs. Thank you for FINALLY, explaining it to me. Time is basically the gaps in between light. Light being constant. And, if one could travel just 1 km faster, time trqvel would be possible, bit only forwards, prpbably why we dont see anyone from the past. I guarantee you can travel forward, but it would also be relative. And, now i know even more about why Einstein says time is relative. One thing id like to propose for out the box thinkers out there is the following. When we dream, time seems to cease existing, yet, it doesnt. We go to sleep, it feels like mere moments have passed, but, iits been hours. This phenomonenon is making even more sense now though. My theory has been and is merely a phenomenon of being human.i used to believe, dreams were a form of spiritual time travel. But i think thats just the way our brain doesnt percieve anything while sleeping much less time. But i was beginning to believe we were able to change time somehow in our sleep. And also had some time travel theories, but i know now. U can go forwards, not backwards! Thank you again

How ancient Indians (or Vedic people, more precisely) come up with these numbers, I don't have a clue.

The thing that this sketch tries to say is that
    1. The theory of relativity applies to objects on earth, because the object on earth moves at a speed slow enough for relativity to b applied on it
If something moves slow for u/ stationary, it is moving/ moving at a very high speed for someone else
Observing it from a different position
    2. However, this theory doesn't apply on light(as said in the video), because light moves at such a great speed that it diminishes the prospect of time
By the time u reach the speed of light
Time no longer holds a value
Since, speed of light is constant
When in space for every extra distance light travels, it's speed never changes
Because for light time spent on covering that distance is=0
    Since, speed= distance/time
    For light, speed=distance/time=distance/0
    So, S=D

(I'm no expert) I had proposed this to my physics teacher; I think that time (as we know it) can be simply understood as a measurement of change. After all, this is what we measure to find time (usually through oscillations), whether it be the oscillation of a pendulum in a grandfather clock, or an atom in a quantum clock.
Thinking this, we are exposed to the idea that with topics of relativity and time dilation, what we are really talking about is how forces as in gravity and acceleration etc, can alter these changes that we measure, something that may affect all particles in a certain way (hence why one may stay young while others elsewhere grow old).
Another concept takes a step back to concepts of an absolute time or a universal quantum. Is this possible, although considered negated by theories of relativity, and if so is there something actually set or constant in the universe not affected by such forces? Through the same relativity it may seem to speed up or slow down in some manner to us.
It's amazing to think about actually. The more we know, the more we don't, an endless cycle of questions.

The ultimate unification and understanding of physics/physical experience combines, BALANCES, AND INCLUDES opposites, AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY manifest as F=ma ON BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. Here's the proof. This also explains why objects (including WHAT IS THE FALLING MAN) fall at the SAME RATE (neglecting air resistance, of course), AS E=MC2 IS CLEARLY F=MA ON BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. TIME dilation ULTIMATELY proves (ON BALANCE) that E=MC2 IS clearly and necessarily F=ma ON BALANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. Gravity is ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy ON BALANCE.
ON THE CLEAR, EXTENSIVE, SENSIBLE, BALANCED, THEORETICAL, AND UNIVERSAL PROOF THAT ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity, AS E=MC2 IS clearly PROVEN TO BE F=MA ON BALANCE:
Balanced inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE is fundamental, as ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. The stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky. This NECESSARILY represents, INVOLVES, AND DESCRIBES what is possible/potential AND actual IN BALANCE. Indeed, A PHOTON may be placed at the center of what is THE SUN (as A POINT, of course); AS the reduction of SPACE is offset by (or BALANCED with) the speed of light (c); AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity ON BALANCE; AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma IN BALANCE !!! Gravity is ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy ON BALANCE, AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY proven to be F=ma IN BALANCE. TIME dilation ULTIMATELY proves (ON BALANCE) that ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity, AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE. Gravity/acceleration involves BALANCED inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity; AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE; AS the stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky. Accordingly, ON BALANCE, the rotation of WHAT IS THE MOON matches it's revolution. TIME is NECESSARILY possible/potential AND actual IN BALANCE, AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity; AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE. The stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky. Accordingly, ON BALANCE, it makes perfect sense that THE PLANETS (including WHAT IS THE EARTH) will move away very, very, very slightly in relation to what is THE SUN !!! ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity, AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE. Inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE is proportional to (or BALANCED with/as) GRAVITATIONAL force/ENERGY, as this balances gravity AND inertia; AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma ON BALANCE; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity. GREAT. I have explained the cosmological redshift AND the supergiant stars. Stellar clustering ALSO proves ON BALANCE that ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity, AS E=MC2 is CLEARLY F=ma IN BALANCE !!!

Stephen Waldron The particle interactions in a growing beard is not in detail the same as in a clock. So the idea of returning as *biologically* older or younger after wild duch chases at directions into space in cool speeds, is not possible to prove until someone does so. Time is not a fabric or a mystical energy source in space (like you basically explain yourself here; it is a measurement of change given distance of always moving objects). If time was something esoteric or "space"-time in a literal sense in a direct relation with clocks, you would talk and walk backwards if I reverse the clock sticks on your kitchen wall analogue clock for example :) that would be a pretty big surprise... There is a complex way orfcorrecting some of this official explanations of TD. I am going to write a shorter version of that and bring it here after doublechecking some spellings and thinking through. Einsteinian relativity is by far correct and more than much or most else in physics but there are some esoteric rants and diversions that have taken over gradually more .

By pushing my clocks in my house by thirty to one hour , I travel faster than time in performing my daily task of the day ,whether inside or outside my house and im living THE THEORY OF RALATIVITY as explained by the the Genius Mr Albert Einstein as I am a PRAGMATIC PERSON and im PROUD OF MY PRAGMATISM. A WOR TO THE WISE.thks.

As we all know that the experience of time will remain same for both the person (one standing and the other travelling at the speed of light), but in relation, we know the time will pass slowly for the man travelling than that of the man standing. So what will happen if during this phenomenon, both the man contact each other through a phone call or through some radio wave connectivity? Is it possible? Or what will be the situation like? Any idea ?

Ofcourse we contact with the astronauts, time dilation do happen there, but my confusion is with the situation where the time dilation is more, like the case shown in this video

Relativity of theory talks about how our relatives change with time. So dont take them seriously.

OH MY GOSH! I finally understood it! Ugh!(great relief)😌 Great explaination, brother.!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Been watching vids about this for days and just couldn't get it. Until now.
Next, i want to understand how this theory relates to time travel.

What do yo understund tell me??
Say there are two person A and B.
Person (A) start traveling speed of light. How he become 2 years younger than person (B)??

but why does the light beam have a greater distance on the spaceship?

    • @Hellothere-xj3en

light has to travel forward as well as up and down . that mean light is not just travelling perpendicular to mirrors but it is moving forward as well

Light travel to every side. So it just not only up and down. Went light clock move faster and faster. D will bigger and bigger. Just like light move slower and slower. So time will slower and slower.

Because mathematically, a straight line is a shorter distance than a diagonal one which is what has to happen to the path if the source is moving.
