The wonderful thing about Dylan’s art is that it resonates with the listener in different ways as we go through our own personal journeys. I was 42 years old when this song came out. It was a haunting peek into Dylan’s soul at the time but, nothing that I related to personally. Now at 67 I feel this song in a way that I couldn’t before. His music changes and evolves along with us. That is why it is timeless and why he will be remembered as long as there are people in this world to remember.
Well put, Alan. Dylan is a creature of change, and he is brilliant at keeping it creative in the process. Once when one of his engineers in the studio asked him why he changes things up so much, constantly evolving, he squinted his eyes and took a long drag off of his cigarette. His response was, "Would you want to keep living the same day over and over?" Such an utterly Dylanesque answer.
Yes! Yes! Exactly my point of view too! And how he can change OLD songs like : "Shenandoah" and "Dixie!" When he is singing "Shenandoah", I am transported to a river on the East Coast, in a canoe, late 1700!
It doesn't get much better than this. Close your eyes, breathe deeply and Bob will transport you to a beautiful and mysterious place. This degree of depth and potency is a rare thing. All hail BOB.
This is the album that kick started The Bob's remarkable late career resurgence. It is probably my favourite Bob Dylan album which in itself is impressive considering the body of work that came before it. I love watching your reactions to Dylan, Cimdy. Just beautiful. 😍
Time Out of Mind is a brilliant album. Amazingly, Bob Dylan would still be one of the all-time greats if his entire career began with the albums Time Out of Mind, Love & Theft and Modern Times, plus the later records up to 2020's Rough and Rowdy Ways. Truly a genius.
This is the song of someone becoming an old man ~ and not enjoying it much. As it turned out it was the birth of a new phase and a bunch more good songs leading up to his 2020 masterpiece Murder Most Foul
Dylan released Time Out of Mind in 1997. I played the cd of it quite often that year. His eldest son, Jakob, also had a hit in the charts that year with his band the Wallflowers.
I know this would not work out for your reactions to Dylan on your channel, but once you feel you’ve reacted to enough of his songs, I would highly recommend just starting at the beginning and listening to each entire record chronologically, especially his earlier stuff- although this song is an example that there is so much beyond that as well. Amazing artist.
This song was released in 1997, so it's much later than Dylan songs you have featured recently. Most of those came from 60s and 70s. Personally, I think early songs are his best but the quality is still there in the later stages of his career. I saw Dylan in concert around this time in Nashville, Tennessee. I thought the show would end twice before it actually ended. Dylan didn't want to leave the stage, much like his career. Dylan can't walk away from a life in music.
Hope you like this early Bob Dylan singing folk songs video. People say that he can't sing! Not only has he written over 1.000 songs, he has a mind the retains, every song he hears. He is also a visual artist in metal, oil, watercolor, pen and album art. His portraits are often amazing. I feel lucky to have discovered him when I was 13. I never seemed to initially understand any new album. It was the lyrics that always drew me on and won me over. My question has never changed since then, "Where do these words come from?" As long as there is human life and the grid stays up, Dylan's songs will be heard. ruclips.net/video/PR5ShVsy7EM/видео.html One cover of one of Bob's greatest songs: ruclips.net/video/rED8_VkqJNk/видео.html
In the liner notes to the new Bob Dylan "Bootleg Series" (Volume 17) which focuses on the sessions for this very album, Steven Hyden writes that "Time Out of Mind" holds a special place in his heart because it was the first classic Bob Dylan album that he got to experience in real time. That struck me, because I know exactly what he means. It's actually a thought I had had myself before. I'm too young to remember any of his '60's stuff, or Blood on the Tracks, etc. "Oh Mercy" from 1989 was a great album, and I experienced that in "real time" I guess you could say, but it's not quite the classic that this album is. TOOM knocked my socks off when I first heard it, and it still does today. And, remarkably, he managed to one-up it in 2001 with "Love and Theft", one of his all-time greatest albums, period!
No songwriter like him unbelievable the greatest songwriter of all time 👍🏴😄 Mr Bob Dylan love him
This is one of my favourite songs. With age, Dylan knows exactly what the world is about. Your review is excellent. Also, you seem a charming person.

Agreed, Bob has catalog of great songs, but I’m not sure if he has a greater one than this. Flawless.
Once again you've knocked it out of ball park darlin 💗
The man is a genius fair and square 🏴😄🕶️❤️ Mr Robert Allen Zimmerman
Bob Dylan is like a universe unto himself.
One of my favorite songs from the latter stage of his career.
Love this song
He has a photographic memory, which is how he remembers all the lyrics
Mr Dylan plying his magic
The guitars and drums are perfect in this song as well

He's also a prophet.

My sense of normality has gone down the drain. Absolute truth!
I believe it is, "My sense of humanity has gone down the drain."

Hi it'd be great if you could please react to Bob Dylan's song 'Murder Most Foul' from 2020 when he was aged 79, thanks!!!!

My Vol. 17 came in the mail a few days ago! Haven't gotten around to opening it yet, looking forward to the outtakes and alternates when I get time!
@@zenhaelcero8481 You won't be disappointed. The outtakes are great, and the new 2022 remix of the original album is outstanding. Enjoy!
The night that Jesus said was coming is almost here. That night ( darkness ) is falling from the sky.
Again just one question who is your number one idol ELVIS or Dylan? Lol
Dylan no sweat lol 🏴😄👍🕶️
@@jasondylansargent2195 you'll see lol she's like an elevator with both of them one day Elvis the other Dylan lol I say Elvis Presleys the king 👑 👍
What do you think about this song?
I think this is one of Bob's greatest masterpeices. Everything about it shines and stands for all of time as fulfilling all of his multiple talents.
