Forza Motorsport 7 is a masterpiece compared to the utter dumpster that is fire Forza Motorsport (2023). Of course, FM7 didn't launch in a good state, and it suffers from the very things you went over in the video. But the grand irony is FM is even * worse * than FM7, with its unrewarding, car level grinding that locks upgrade parts behind arbitrary Car XP points. It's so bad, it's driving players back to FM7, and Forza Horizon 5. I've never seen a AAA developer screw up this bad. Ever. The damage they've done to a almost 20-year franchise might be so severe it causes MS to abandon any future FM support? FM is officially the worst financially performing FM in the entire history of the franchise. Post-launch player counts are almost non-existent, and even Game Pass users left negative reviews and already moved on, it's that bad. I think most of the people who made the older games are no longer with T10, which is one big reason the future of the franchise is in doubt.

Knowing the dev team is mostly gone, the state of the new Forza makes a lot more sense. At the risk of being too optimistic, this might end up being a good thing in the long run; after all, if Battlefront 2's backlash gave us Jedi Fallen Order, maybe a similar lowpoint will be the shock Microsoft and Turn 10 need to get Forza back on track.

Turn 10 is just so lost. I can't comprehend how they're still fucking up the most basic pillars of a good racer in 2023.

I feel like it has less to do with Turn 10 and more to do with the demands of their owners at Microsoft; the tech giant has some very specific (and I wouldn't blame you for calling them sinister) motivations regarding monetization and coveting the products they sell (microtransactions, online drm, etc). Combine that with the additional publisher demands for the highest possible visual standards at a rock solid 60 frames per second and a 2-year development cycle for every game except the most recent one (which was a more-or-less ground-up rebuild), and it makes sense that the more modern Forza games are the way they are.

I really still enjoy the multiplayer. Once you get past the super grind of the main campaign, it's probably some of the most fun I would have since 4. I'm kind of worried about the new Forza cause it looks like it has a lot of issues.

Yeah the addition of league play and a rudimentary penalty system in multiplayer really helped to separate the serious drivers from the rammers, both by actually separating them through league rankings and through shifting the multiplayer mentality. Given that the penalty system in Forza 2023 is often penalizing the victims of ramming instead of the perpetrators, it honestly feels kind of like we're going backwards despite all the other improvements.

To be honest Forza Motorsport 6 is probably the last decent Motorsport game in my opinion if not the last decent Forza game for a while. As good as Forza Horzion 5 is that game has loads of problems including the live service B.S that is more of a overpriced, unfinished and sad excuse of attempting to suck as much money from fans as possible. And Forza Motorsport 2023 is just a whole can of worms entirely with it pulling a Gran Turismo 7 regarding the career mode among other things. At this point Forza is at a low point just like Gran Turismo. It'a a damn shame how Turn 10 and Playgroud Games fallen so low as of late. :(

Yeah it really sucks; Forza 6 is probably the last really solid Motorsport game (I still think Horizon 3 is probably the last really high point in the Forza series). As far as 5 goes, I cant help but feel the same way about the live service nonsense smothering a fantastic foundation for a Horizon game (feel free to see my full thoughts on the game in our in-depth Horizon 5 review if you haven't already). I'm still trying to hold out hope that the future of Forza will be bright, but given how determined Microsoft is to make everything a multiplayer and online-focused service, I have my doubts...

I mean, relative to earlier games it is (changing tire compounds in the pits, off-track and contact penalties in single player, etc.). It's not as hardcore as it could be, but it is a pretty notable shift from earlier entries.

@@dankswank9088 that is yea, but I'm just joking about the single player "campaign". There's only one series for purpose built racecars.
