Unfortnately gacha community is one that will tell you always that Genshin is a trash game and not worth talking about then proceed to compare it always to any other gacha, I recommend you just not taking them seriously and just play what you want, they'll always over hype or over hate any game, specially big content creators since the most reactive players will watch them religiously

Gacha games can no longer get away with a lackluster story. People have come to expect a good story in gacha games. Why else would you need a story mode if the story simply does not live up to the standards set by the alternatives on the market? The bar for what can be considered a good gacha game has risen significantly since the release of Genshin Impact. You may not like that, but it is the reality. While there are certainly many valid criticisms to made against Genshin Impact and Hoyoverse as a whole, you cannot deny their impact on the mobile game market.
I am personally one of the harshest critics, especially when it comes to Genshin Impact, so I'm not here to defend Genshin Impact or Hoyoverse. But the reason everything is being compared to Genshin Impact and Hoyoverse is because they set the standards. Hoyoverse raised the bar sky high, that is a fact. It is undeniable objective reality. The bar has risen significantly with the release of Genshin Impact, and despite their flaws Hoyoverse continues to reign at the top of this industry. Anything that does not live up to that standard will be considered sub-par. And as such a gacha game that has a story mode MUST have a good story. It's no longer good enough to have an average story.
Again, you may not like it but that is the reality of this industry.

Agree, as much as i hate the rng and no longer f2p friendly of HSR (unless you have god tier gear), the quality of the game is superb. There's a reason that the Hoyoverse gacha system become the standard for newer gacha compare to the traditional like Arknight/Blue Archive/etc.... Still, as you say, they push the bar way higher that unless the game have some unique twist (in Snowbreak case, a shooter gacha with the first of interactable 3D skin) you wont survive or you have to bend to the masses to the point of twisting the game (also like Snowbreak, with removal of male logistics before they suffer the incel r****d sigma personality).

well noone has the funding that mihoyo has so this argument may be true at first sight but after closer observation this is just not possible for most gacha developers...mihoyo is not the standard its the exception thats why they are so successful in the gacha space...they spent 200 million dollars every year to develop genshin sometimes even more as they stated themselves and they are making billions...comparing for example snowbreak to this is just not a smart way to look at such things

@@Z0o0L Mihoyo didn't have the funding they have now when they released Genshin Impact either. In fact, Genshin Impact was a huge gamble on their part due to the insane production costs and no real guarantee they'd make all of that back, never mind turn a profit. It turned out to be a huge success, but if that didn't happen Mihoyo would likely have gone bankrupt.

@@Satyr42 making genshin costed them around 100 million dollars they stated themselves but not every small gacha developer has 100 million dollar to spent for a game.hoyo could afford it because of their former gacha game honkai impact third.but snowbreak for example makes 5million+ in its entirety maybe 10 million cause they said they make most money on their pc client...expecting hoyoverse funding quality is just not going to happen for most games especially its the first game they make

Poor optimization is valid criticism. There's a Reddit guide on how to fix it. Also makes characters look better.

      @mosesnyper 4 месяца назад

Until the devs include all the UE shader optimizations in the base game they deserve critique.
Character models are usually the main appeal of a gacha. The story is dialogue heavy so AI won't cut it.
If they continue English VA they can focus on battle, base, and lobby lines since that's where you'll see your characters.

Also, most people know what a good or bad character looks like, if I showed a ugly character to 10 people 9/10 would agree it’s trash, I don’t think Snowbreak characters are all mid but most would agree Snowbreak isn’t setting any standards for character designs, TOFs new characters probably look better I’d say but it’s still a opinion. And PGR, Genshin, NIKKE, HSR, and others have better designs most would agree. Most of the new games coming out have better designs as well.

What attracts me to a game is its gameplay, and I will keep playing something as long as the gameplay keeps attracting me, although other aspects like story and characters will make me keep playing longer (Waiting for Firefly from HSR) if I don't like it gameplay I won't play no matter how good the story is or how attractive the characters are.
Nikki is a great example, they say it has an excellent story, it has great characters but I think the gameplay is slow and I would get bored very easily, and I am aware that it is slow because it is something for mobile. If Nikki had gameplay in the same style as Snowbreak I would love it.
Genshin is another one that has an incredible world, great characters, I played in launch, but the combat style of having to do an elemental reaction to deal damage didn't appeal to me, and finally I dropped the game.
Snowbreak has a lot of potential but needs to be polished, in EVERYTHING, story, characters (mainly), gameplay, etc.

First criticism of this video. More rewards does not equal more content. It's the reverse argument a lot of Genshin fanboys use. Genshin fanboys love to claim that more content equals more rewards. This argument emerged when Honkai Star Rail showed people just how stingy Genshin is and how much tedious busywork you have to go through to get rewards. Then Genshin fanboys began to claim that content is a reward in and of itself and anyone who disagreed with that was marked as an "ungrateful hater". And as such the argument devolved into "more content = more rewards".
Now here we see the opposite of that. When people point out the lackluster content you counter that with "more rewards = more content". The problem with that is "more of the same thing" is not good enough if people do not like the thing. The content being lackluster has little to do with the rewards you get from the content and more with the quality of the content you get the rewards from. More game modes does not make a better game either if the content in these game modes remains lackluster.
I will continue to watch the video and as such I will update this when necessary.

OK so now you go with the "muh subjectivism" crap when it comes to character designs. What people consider beautiful is literally ingrained in our DNA. Beauty standards are defined by human biology. Gacha games sell character. That is the main product. If the characters are either ugly or average it is not good enough because the game has to compete with other games that sell the same product. And if people can get a better version of what is essentially the same product then people will go elsewhere.
Let's put it like this. You and your friends want to go out to eat pizza. Now there are two pizza shops in town. One pizza shop is just average. It's not terrible, but it's not amazing either. It's just your average run of the mill pizza. The other pizza shop sells pizza that is amazing and it's not even much more expensive than the other pizza shop. People are willing to pay a few extra bucks for a higher quality product. And as such the average pizza shop is going to lose customers to the better pizza shop.
And then you decide to defend the average pizza shop by saying "the average pizza shop is not terrible and taste is subjective therefore the average pizza shop is good and people should not complain". With that argument you are missing the point. No one is saying the average pizza shop is bad. It's just not good enough compared to the alternative. The same counts for Snowbreak. No one is saying the game is bad. It's just not good enough. It cannot stand up to scrutiny when compared to the alternatives out there. So no matter how much you claim that beauty is subjective (which it isn't. Beauty is objective and is ingrained in our DNA. It's genetic and fundamental to our nature as human beings) if the character designs are not good enough compared to the alternative people will rather spent their time and money on the alternative.
And as far as I can see no one is saying the character designs are ugly. People are saying the character designs are boring and dull. They have improved recently, which is a good thing. Fan service sells. There is no denying that. And in gacha games fan service is everything. Just look at any anime style gacha game out there. What do they sell? Characters with a high degree of fan service. That is just the reality. Snowbreak is competing for people's limited time and money with giants like Hoyoverse and Shift Up. You may not like it, but the companies that reign at the top of this genre set the standards. Anything that does not live up to those standards will be considered sub-par.
The mobile gaming market is one of the most competitive markets on the planet and about 90% gacha games shut down in less than a year. So you better live up to the standards set by the industry gods that are Hoyoverse and Shift Up or else you will fail and your game will be doomed.

Also ever since I started playing these types of games starting with Genshin I’ve noticed that the community for the vast majority of them are different then other games, the community seems to be more passive when it comes to wanting improvements,
Comparing stuff is what people do but the moment you compare anything in these games people are fast to say that’s just your opinion and you’re just hating,
If you disagree with or dislike any character for any reason you’re hating,
Don’t like the story who cares it’s not for you,
Not getting enough rewards so what just be happy you get anything it’s free,
You pay lots of money and then have your time disrespected so, you knew this was a Gacha game you shouldn’t have paid…
mad you didn’t get the new character or skin if you’re broke just say so lol
It literally doesn’t matter what you think, if you aren’t saying you love everything in these games you’re hating and your opinion is irrelevant, I’d say most people in the community are normal but there’s lots of bad actors that want to shut up anyone that says anything about disliking the game or characters for any reason, they act like these fake characters are real
I don’t like it either when someone says something like a character i like is shit and doesn’t have any points but if someone is being fair then I’m fine hearing what they say. I just wish everyone was like that.

@@herbertcoxe3601 That's because these games generate a huge amount of sunk cost fallacy in people. Imagine spending so much time and/or money on a game and then someone comes along to tell you the game sucks and needs to improve. That's going to sting. It often makes people feel as if they wasted their time and/or money, and most people would rather not think about that. People are not always rational and often react emotionally to things. This is one of such irrational and emotional reactions. So even if you did not mean to imply they wasted their time and/or money, they will still feel as if you did. Hence why they react so aggressively to criticism no matter how valid it may be.

  • @herbertcoxe3601

This comment is mostly speaking in general Sorry for the book but,
a rule in life is it doesn’t matter if people complaining is valid or not, because they won’t give you money if they aren’t happy, for example if I say I don’t like the characters because they are boring and feel flat it doesn’t matter that people disagree with me or not what matters is if I’m part of the popular opinion, if a lot of people are saying something you probably have a problem on your hands if you don’t deal with it…
look at your gameplay, it way annoy people but the game is boring and feels weak… the gameplay is running around slowly as you shoot enemies, good gun customization when? Good story when? Better bosses, guns don’t feel satisfying and lack punch, the characters don’t have enough personality and story to make people care about the fan service,
The game is doing poorly so instead of fixing it and making a better game they said f**k time to bank everything on ass, not a bad plan but game needs a bit more them that and with all the games coming out why would anyone play Snowbreak if they can’t even compete with TOF gameplay wise. Look at NIKKE no one would even play it if the story wasn’t so good, everyone starts NIKKE for ass and then says oh this game is actually good wow, not with Snowbreak,
The maps are lackluster and feel boring as well, no I’m not a hater of at least this game but they should fix the game, over time they are adding more true… but for rn now it’s not enough for most… don’t blame people for not playing or liking it, blame the game for not being worth playing.
To the people that do play… no one cares that you like the game the way it is if the way it is is dying off, yes people play it but for how long I want the game to be better so that more people can feel as you do.
This is a gameplay and story problem at it’s core, Genshin doesn’t have endgame at all doesn’t even have hard bosses and still so many people play because the core gameplay mechanics are fun, and the story is good even though I think it’s trash. I hope all my comments age like milk for this game but I doubt that.

    • @Satyr42
      @Satyr42 4 месяца назад +1

Something people do not understand is that criticism is not hate. In fact, people who are the most critical also tend to be the people who care the most. I recently returned to the game to see what is new and I think your criticism is absolutely spot. There is a lot of potential to this game, and it has improved to some extend. But is it enough to save it? I honestly doubt it and yet I genuinely hope I'm wrong because I do not actually want games to fail unless they are bad beyond saving. This game is not bad beyond saving. There is a lot of potential here and I do hope the game improves enough so it can survive.

@@Satyr42 The game is not dying, it has been saved due to the change in direction. To start with my argument, the game has peaked 3 times:
-Acacia's banner, the first patch and highest in revenue
-Katya's banner when Seasun doubled down the fanservice and when it earned it's 2nd highest revenue
      - Cherno's banner, the most recent banner and 3rd highest revenue. This is when Seasun optimized the game to be a harem, for you, type of game. It has peaked at 3,400 concurrent players on steam, the highest its been.
Contrary to most people's belief, the game is thriving and it is earning more money than when it wasn't completely fanservice.
